Hey that's me! Hi Everyone!

What is your first name? Jodie

When is your due date? 12/7/2016

What part of the world are you from (be as vague/specific as you want)? I'm in the greater Seattle area

What number baby/pregnancy is this for you? 1 & 1

What is your occupation or dream occupation? I'm a data scientist at a large software company and generally like my job.  I've often thought about being a teacher of some kind, but instead try to do teaching in my current role by mentoring people.

Does your/will your nursery have a theme or color combination? Yes, Winnie the Pooh!  We will probably paint the walls yellow and we already got the bedding set and we are registering for all the matching things.

Have you bought anything for baby yet? I bought a onesie that has a robot on it and says "Lil' Geek" on it as well as the Pooh bedding set. And, arguably, we bought a house for baby ;-) Our rented townhouse was just not big enough.

If you have bought things, what is your favorite thing that you have gotten so far? I'm really excited about the bedding set and getting the nursery all set up. 

What is your favorite part of pregnancy so far? At the risk of sounding cheesy, at this point, my favorite part is just being pregnant. I haven't had a very hard pregnancy and we had a very hard time getting pregnant (though not as hard as others). We went 2 years of trying without seeing any sign of me ever being pregnant straight to full on IVF (skipped right past IUI). Doctors have told DH it's very unlikely that he can get someone pregnant naturally.  The coolest thing about having done IVF is that we have a picture of LO when she was just a bundle of cells, and that we knew from Day 1 that is was a girl.

Do you have a favorite maternity/baby brand? As a plus sized lady, I've been really happy with the plus sized pants I've gotten from Motherhood Maternity.  I'm not really showing at all yet so I haven't had to by any tops 

One thing you will splurge on this pregnancy?  I think our biggest purchase will be on the glider (and gliding ottoman) we want to for the nursery, but we also plan on getting the Owlet monitor. Also, see comment above about buying a house ;-)

What are your top pregnancy related priorities? Having a healthy baby.

What is your favorite book? I read a lot so it's hard to say and often re-read books. My favorite author is probably Brandon Sanderson. I also generally prefer to read series than standalone books.

What is your favorite tv show? Of all time, it's probably Firefly, but currently airing, Bones.

What is your favorite movie? Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is probably my favorite move of all time.

What is your favorite band/singer? Probably Ben Folds, but I also really like any band that Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie) sings with.

Anything else you would like us to know? I'm a twin and was always the "blue" twin. My mom dressed us in identical outfits, but in different colors and my sister always wore the more traditionally girl colors where I wore more neutral to masculine colors. This apparently had a long-term effect on our personalities. I'm actually hoping to not dress my daughter in any pink until she is old enough to ask for it because I'm not a fan. I'm also a little nervous about her being really girly because I'll be no help at all!

Congrats on the house! Especially in the greater Seattle area... I know that can be a serious undertaking finding something.

@slartybartfast: Thanks! It took as a while to find the house and it was complicated by the fact that I hated everything during the first trimester :-)  It got to the point where the realtor would ask if I had had dinner before he would show us a house ;-) I'm pretty pleased with the house we bought, now we just need to finish unpacking!

I love Seattle! What a great part of the country to live in. I'm also a "death cab" fan so I'll have to check out some of Ben Gibbard's other bands as well. 

Yes to Firefly! If only there were more seasons! Although I really enjoyed "bones" back in the day, my hearts no longer in it for the past few seasons. 

Congrats on on your little girl!

I loved Firefly, though I didn't watch it while it was on.  I also love Bones and can't wait until this season comes on to see how last season's cliffhanger turns out.

Hi! I'm also in the greater Seattle area, northeast in Maltby area. And we also spent 2 yrs TTC, I'm so happy to be here ! While we didn't do IVF, I feel so appreciative to be on this board. 
Where are you having baby at? We are at Overlake, where we had DD 2, it was amazing. 
Congrats on the house! And your job sounds so fun, also a nerd over here. I love science. But went with the teacher route, maybe one day I can be a science teacher! Special Ed. Right now, but SAHM while I get my masters. (Enter tantrum)

@aframe77 Ben Gibbard had a solo album a couple of years ago and his work with Postal Service is phenomenal!  My H feels the same way you do about Bones, but puts up with it for me :-) I really relate to Brennan.

@phoebecar: I haven't seen the finale yet, its still on my DVR waiting for the Olympics to finish. I'm glad they get one last season to rap things up.

@yellingbanana: We live on the east-side too, but we are planning to deliver at Evergreen which is like 5 minutes from our house. I've had a few friends deliver at Overlake too. Good luck with your Masters! I got mine right after undergrad.

Nice to meet you! We're Team Green & everyone keeps telling us how we will regret not being "prepared" if it's a girl, with dresses and pink and whatnot..... I'm not anti-pink, but I have no intention of treating my child like a doll! A girl can rock any color!

@jptrumptone and @yellingbanana it's so fun to see other Seattle area bumpies! I'm in NE Seattle (almost to Shoreline). I've heard really good things about both Evergreen and Overlake, we're delivering at Swedish (First Hill).
Also- LOVE Bones! And DH is a data scientist, too!

@andra.81410: My DH works in NE Seattle! I had surgery at Swedish years ago and was pretty impressed, but it just makes sense for me to go to the hospital that is a stones throw away.

Especially with traffic! Imagine going into labor at 7:30 am and trying to get into Seattle!

Yes, no bridges between me and the hospital please!  At least the drawbridge is gone. I was once late for an appointment at Swedish because we got stuck behind the drawbridge.
