Re: ...TTCAL Week of August 15th...

  • 2.) Benched, but meeting with the RE this morning- hoping to get off the bench today. I'm 7 or 9 dpo and even though we used the PMO on O day, I'm still fighting the urge to test. My boobs hurt! I'm sure it's just normal LP issues, but of course my boobs looked pregnant today!

3.) Ummm I may have actually ovulated on CD 14, guys. This is amazing for me. I'm giving all the credit to acupuncture. Even if it was cd 16, it's still pretty early for me.

4.) GTKY I love gymnastics. I was 5 during the Mary Lou Retton Olympics and made my parents sign me up for gymnastic. Of course it did not last long- I quickly realized I had no natural ability, but I still to this day love gymnastics the most. I also have been enjoying beach volleyball and swimming. DH is super into track and field so we watch a lot of that too. Super bummed that the women's soccer team and Serena got knocked out early.

    3. Rants/raves: I went to a great bridal shower yesterday. I usually find them excruciatingly boring and as a result didn't have one of my own. I've also been married for almost 9 years, so I've been through most of my friend's weddings. Anyways, it was at this beautiful place and had amazing food and such a happy and excited bride. Totally brought me back to the exciting time of getting ready to get married. I always get anxiety though when people start talking about kids at the shower. Not out of jealousy or anything, but more like that people have this illusion that when you start trying it will happen and that makes me stressed for them.

Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. Not stressing too much. Trying to enjoy these last weeks of summer. Beta should be next Monday, and I'm trying not to test until then.

    4. GTKY: Are you watching the Olympics? What events are you into? I've only really watched snippets here and there. I do like to catch up on the gymnastics though and swimming is always exciting too.
  • 2) Got my crosshairs this morning so I guess I'm in the TWW at about 3 DPO. Apparently I Oed on CD 17 which is earlier than my usual CD 19-21, so we'll see what comes of that besides a shorter cycle for me. Good thing I did some opks earlier in my CDs than usual. Fx that there was good BD timing!

    3) I just have this week and next week left to be off from work before I have to go back (work in a school) and I feel like it flew by and I accomplished nothing. How did 6 weeks already pass?!

    4) GTKY: LOVE the Olympics, especially the summer ones. These athletes are incredible at what they do, even the ones who don't medal. I probably have as much athleticism as they have in their big toe. But anything to do with swimming and gymnastics are my fave.

  • @chloe97 Good luck today! I hope you get to come off the bench! And also yay for your body doing an earlier O this cycle! Hopefully that's a sign of good things to come!

@lilylover27 FX that O is soon!!

@BornReady FX so hard for you! I'm sure it'll be easier said than done to not rest early, but you can do it!

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.): WTO - CD9. So early.

    3. Rants/raves: I'm convinced that I delayed O last month by being so ridiculously stressed in my WTO so I'm really really trying to reign it in this cycle and concentrate on things other than TTC. I'm not even going to use an OPK until my body gives me a sign that O is approaching. And I also might not be around as much because as much as I ❤️ you all being here is my biggest reminder of TTC.

    4. GTKY: Are you watching the Olympics? What events are you into?
Yes! Basically everything. Gymnastics and pool related events are my favorite though.

    2. Status: CD 19 waiting for AF. +opk Friday and Saturday am, temp increased to 36.56 (Celsius) Saturday and then nose dived to 36.22 yesterday and is still low today. Which I think puts me completely out of the running for O and this cycle is anovulatory.

    3. As I mentioned in TWW, I'm feeling really sad and defeated right now. Last cycle was my first with Clomid and it really went perfectly (minus I didn't get KU). This cycle was a bust. I'm going to call my OB office this week and book an appointment and advocate for more monitoring, scans before, trigger and progesterone blood draws is all I will settle for at this point. If he's not willing to do all three (although I'm sure he will) then I'll request a referral out. I think I'm going to take a break next cycle though. As it stands right now I should O the day that DH leaves for work, but if I O later then it would make that cycle of Clomid useless. I hope AF isn't super delayed from this cycle because that'll likely screw with October.  October is looking like we get two chances the way my cycles ~should~ line up.
Also I'm just going to take a moment and rant about my friends that are pregnant by mistake. Yep. Didn't want to get pregnant, yet used literally zero form of BC, like not even "pulling out". What in the actual eff! How is it fair that these people who are the least prepared for a baby, get KU literally right away. They've been dating since April and she's currently 10/11 weeks. How?! (Not to say they won't be great parents, but seriously. Wtf)

Edit to add: No offence at all meant to those that can conceive easily and have conceived "unplanned", if it wasn't for unplanned pregnancies I wouldn't be here! I'm just frustrated at my own struggles.

    4. GTKY: I have been very much slacking with the Olympics. I have not watched a single event. Whoops!

@chloe97 FX for getting unbenched today!

  • 2. CD 3- I have a baseline scheduled for tomorrow and will start on my medicated IUI injectable cycle. This will be my first IUI with injectables so I'm interested to see how I will respond.

    3. No major Rants or Raves this week- just want to get things moving with this cycle and getting mentally prepared for it.

    4. GTKY- I love watching the gymnastics. How awesome is Simone Biles?!? I also watched a fair amount of the swimming. And yes total bummer about the women's soccer team. What an upset!

@chloe97 So happy you are off the bench! Are you guys going to just continue trying naturally then? Sounds like your chances are pretty good.

@roper2617 I'm sorry you are down- this process is rough and with so many highs and lows. I'm glad you are advocating for more monitoring. It makes sense with clomid and the trigger definitely helps. Sorry if you've already discussed this on another thread but have you considered working with an RE?

@lilylover27 this cycle sounds promising :)

    @chloe97 YAY for being UNBENCHED!!!

@BornReady so glad you're feeling good and calm, FX for your betas next Monday!

@lilylover27 oh I can totally relate to feeding the baby fever.  Last week I was around a one month old, two month old, three month old and this weekend a 9 month old.

@roper2617 I'm sorry you're having a tough time right now.  Do something nice for yourself today :)

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.):  I met with my RE Friday morning and I am moving on to Gonal F injections + HCG trigger + TI.  We are currently waiting to see what our insurance covers but I told her that we are moving forward regardless, which is why I am kind of annoyed that they won't just give me the provera now to start AF.  It's like a two week process to start AF off of that so why not go now.. ugh.  Anyways, I am currently in limbo until that is all sorted out.

    3. Rants/raves:  My rant is above.  Other than that, not much else.

    4. GTKY: Are you watching the Olympics? What events are you into?  Yes!  I played water polo through college and have been following that and of course swimming.  Phelps is actually a friend I made when he lived/trained in Michigan and we met socially.  DH has had gymnastics, beach volleyball and soccer on in the background too.

    *edited for Monday typing...
  • @roxgibbons Unfortunately, the closest RE is a 7 hour drive from us, I'm not sure how that would work at this point. It's not off the table, and we may get there soon, but I really don't want that travel yet tbh.  My OB is already 2 hours out of town. I live in a small town and health care in Northern Ontario definitely isn't the best.

  • @chloe97 yay for the good news!! So happy for you.
@lilylover27 I'm so glad you told off that friend who kept asking about ttc. that's a dream of mine!
@aliciagoose i totally understand about needing to take a break from here because it feeds the crazy so much. I love it here but sometimes you need a few days to focus on something else. hugs <3
@roper2617 I'm sorry you're having a rough time. I hope your dr takes your concerns seriously and comes up with a new game plan.
@roxgibbons everything crossed for this cycle, hopefully the injectable do their thing and get you ku.

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.): WTO CD6. I usually O around CD18 but last month I think it was super early at 11 so I need to be diligent with opk early this month and have a better BD schedule.

    3. Rants/raves: rave for sure, I am getting a new car soon woohoo! we are going tonight to check out the grand cherokee and I'm so pumped.

    4. GTKY: Are you watching the Olympics? What events are you into? I love the olympics, I was super into the gymnastics and swimming and now that's it's over, I've been watching track and field. I am amazed by the athletes.

  • @chloe97 so happy for you that you're unbenched!!

@roper2617 so sorry for the rough day. I can definitely relate. Hope you're feeling better soon.

@Aera11 look at you causally throwing out that you're friends with Phelps!!! What!?!?! That is awesome. He's such a stellar athlete!

2)WFAF (waiting for AF). I'm 6dpo with a 0% chance of anything happening this month. I guess that's what happens when you O two weeks early.

3)Raves - I met a cpl women my age at church and got to have a girls night with them last night. It was super fun, we went to a mini concert and then out for Mexican!
Rant - The progesterone increase post ovulation has resulted in extra large boobs, which makes my mind think crazy things even though I know there's no chance. Wahhh

4)I typically can't sit still long enough to watch tv but I do like the Olympics so I find tasks I can do while watching and have managed to watch a ton of swimming and beach volleyball. I also love gymnastics and DH loves track and field.

    2. Benched. Need to get APS and thyroid retested any day now, but I'm feeling kind of defeated and "what's the point?" these days.

    3. My first EDD was Saturday. We were at a wedding, which was probably a good distraction most of the time, as I got to see friends I haven't seen in years. But I lost it at the parent-child dances. With everything going on with my mom and our two losses, I just couldn't handle it. Ended up telling two friends at the wedding because I was acting so awkward. It went fine, but still.... NOT how I would have wanted to tell them. Blargh. Eff everything right now.

    4. Love the Olympics. I love watching gymnastics - I still remember watching the Atlanta Olympics and watching Kerri Strug stick her vault with one bad ankle. DH loves swimming and track, so we watch that too.

@chloe97 so happy to hear this!
@roper2617 I'm sorry for the frustration. It's SO annoying. Right now my FB feed are people along the lines of, "we were done having kids, but....oops!." Grreeeeeeaaat.

3 DPO-ish but I think I O'd before BD, either way. Rave that my DH seems to be okay with trying again. One day at a time, although we will look at now until October as not putting the pedal to the metal just yet (I think, could still change).

Don't have cable so missing most of the Olympics. I did catch the 10K meter men's on my phone 'cause I ran a half marathon with Galen Rupp in December...when I say "with" I mean I got to pass him when he was going the other direction back finishing ;-). Wasn't even breathing hard, we were all in awe...he came in 5th in the 10K, unfortunately, but I loved seeing Mo Farah win!

Edit cause I can't type today.

  • @szwill86 I go back to work tomorrow, and I agree, the time flew! I've been a teacher about 6 years now, but this is my first year in a public school. I used to get 2 week/year whenever like most grown up jobs, so this is my first summer/big break of my adult life. I "only" got 4 weeks, so while it's still short compared to most teachers, it's amazing to me!

@chloe97 Congrats on being unbenched. I hope the ultrasound goes well and the two MCs are just a fluke.

@roper2617 I'm with you on the frustration with unplanned pregnancies, it's so not fair. I'm overwhelmed with other people's pregnancies as it is, I've skipped about 7 baby showers in the past 6 months and just had to unfollow my sister in law on Facebook (she's due 1 month to the day before I would have been).

    1. Introduce yourself (if you're new):
I don't remember if I introduced myself on this board yet. I'm 35, DH is 39, and DH has 1 child already but I have none. TTC since 4/2015, diagnosed with unexplained infertility 5/2016. Ectopic pregnancy discovered around 6 weeks 7/2016 and had methotrexate injection. Unbenched 8/6/16.

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.): I *think* I may be starting TWW. I usually O cd14-16, got +OPK cd15 but no temp shift. Once before I had 2 LH surges, so I knew to keep temping and testing. Got 2 more +OPKs Saturday and Sunday and it looks like my temps may be going up now. So hopefully O'd yesterday ish... If so, our timing is good!

    3. Rants/raves: For the most part, I've been feeling better with this loss the past few weeks, but the last week I've started crying out of the blue again. What in the world?? I've also heard many times that you're more fertile in the 3 months after a loss and after an HSG. While I'm trying not to get my hopes up, I think there may be a big emotional crash when AF shows again.

    4. GTKY: Are you watching the Olympics? What events are you into?
I LOVE watching gymnastics. But, we're not a TV household and don't have cable, so I haven't been able to watch any :-(
  • 2 - In the TWW now. About 5 dpo. Not charting or using OPKs this cycle. Trying not to test until end of next week. I haven't been in a TWW that felt so pressure-ish in more than 6 years when I was TTC my first and I don't like it. I don't like staring at the calendar and thinking about every twinge in my body.

3 - Yesterday I spent 4 hours cleaning all the baby stuff up in my garage to pass it along to my older sister who is due in 4 weeks (and 2 weeks after my EDD) It was hard because *I* should be prepping for a new baby. also saw my younger sister yesterday who is also pregnant and due in February. Its hard because her life seems so 'together' where as my DH and I feel like we are falling apart. His dad just started treatment for stomach cancer - his dad is also his business partner so its a big blow for him because he's in charge at work too. And I lost my grandfather a few months ago - his house just sold so its so final now. And how do I explain all this loss and illness to my fiver year old? Its so difficult!

4 - LOVE the olympics but we haven't been watching/following as much as i like to. children in the house make it difficult! But I'm partial to swimming - I was a competitive swimmer growing up and swam with quite a few people who went to Olympic Trials. I had an Olympic swimmer as a coach for a while too.

I figured sharing is not going to change what happened to me but maybe it will make them think twice before assuming and pressuring people into talking about it you know? @roper2617 so so sorry you're having such a hard time :(
@RiverSong15 Yes!!! I was just talking about Keri Strugg the other day! (We watched the movie The Bronze -super funny- and it made me think of when that happened)

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.): TWW but 13dpo with BFN yesterday so just waiting on AF

    4. GTKY: Are you watching the Olympics? What events are you into?
Summer Olympics are my jam!!! I love gymnastics, swimming, track & field. But I don't have cable :( We streamed a bit the other morning but it wasn't playing events I was excited about so I didn't watch for long :/
  •  @ladipale sorry about the difficult time dealing with the baby stuff. I'm dealing with a lot of the same feelings and I can't seem to escape them! Be strong!

@chloe97 glad to hear you are having a positive experience with acupuncture. I really want to try it!
@szwill86 Oh man, i work in a school too and am wondering the same thing!! I always think I will get a million things done over the Summer and disappoint myself. I have to  stop doing that. Maybe I should finally clean out the dreaded hallway closet tomorrow ?!

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.): Kind of benched, as we are awaiting the start of ivf. Af came yesterday, so today I went in for the "day 2 of cycle" blood work. I'm guessing I will find out about the next steps after that comes back.

    3. Rants/raves: Having a terrible day. bro/ sil want to send me an invite to her shower. just the thought of getting that invite in the mail makes me cry. I def won't be able to go. My supervisor send out an announcement that her baby boy was born ( with pics) to the staff. Cried hysterically after opening the email. When will this all end? I can't seem to get a break from the pain. Going back to therapy tomorrow.

    4. GTKY: Are you watching the Olympics? What events are you into?
Been watching everything! gymnastics, swimming, track. I love watching the less popular events like badminton! No matter what it is, somewhere out there is insanely good at it, lol.

  • @KarenBeth714 I also have that dreaded hallway closet. It's looming and all I can think about is how once I get a BFP I will be too tired to clean it, so I need to do it now. Still hasn't happened.

@rainbowturtles sorry you've been sleeping badly. I went through horrible insomnia after my first kiss. I hear you on wanting to lounge all day. Ive been so lazy lately!

@ladipale I'm so sorry about your FIL, it's got to be doubly tough. My DH is business partners with my MIL who has been in remission for 5 years, we have talked about how the added stress of your livelihood being affected if her cancer returned would be so stressful.

@EverythingsBetterOutside welcome and I'm so sorry for your loss!

@amberruka Crazy that you ran a half-marathon with an Olympian! Where was it?

@RiverSong15 I'm so sorry the parent-child dances were a trigger for you. I totally understand. DH and I were at a wedding the week after my D&C he said to me "I may never get a father-daughter dance. Lily may be my only daughter" We both bawled. I've found that weddings have been unexpected triggers for me. Too many toasts from idiots begging the bride and groom to hurry up have kids to make them a grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc. This kind of goes along with what @BornReady said about the illusion of having kids easily and how much anxiety it breeds in me to hear people talk that way. Our closest couple friends are DHs age (36) and even though he knows I've had 2 MCs, the husband always talks about how his wife will be popping out a kid at 38 and 39 when they will finally be ready after being married 5 years. It drive me nuts that he is putting
that much pressure on her body to perfOrm

@SoonToBeMommaHowe Yay for new lady friends! Since I've been with DH, I've found it so hard to make new friends separate of him.

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.): WTO cd3. Started first round of clomid today

    3. Rants/raves: medicated cycles have begun. I guess that could be a rant or a rave depending on your point of view

    4. GTKY: Are you watching the Olympics? What events are you into? Love them!! I played volleyball on a college scholarship so that's always on. I get to into watching smaller countries succeed. Last night the sprinter from South Africa was waterworks central

  • @chloe97 I seriously want to shake some sense into that friend of yours. The idea that people (me formerly)  think that they can just up and have a baby brings me so much anxiety. I was talking to my husband before going to this shower and was like "Do you think it would be weird if I got her Taking Charge of Your Fertility"? He suggested I hold off. And so sorry about the father-daughter dance trigger. This stuff just sneaks up on us.

@EverythingsBetterOutside  Welcome! Sorry for your loss.

@RiverSong15 I'm sorry the wedding was hard. I find that loss/infertility has made me see the last/present/future in such a different way. Like inserting myself into situations or wondering what it will be like if/when. Making things like graduations, weddings etc. hard on me. I'm suddenly a sentimental mess.

  • So many people on here with no cable, I like it. We don't have cable either but we have an HD receiver and get like 20 channels in HD including NBC I believe, so we get some of the Olympics.

  • Ugh so jealous of you non-cable people. We want so badly to cut the cable cord, but we can't because a little over 50% of Cub games are broadcast on cable. Since MLB blacks out local markets, the only way we can get the Cubs is by paying $150 a month. We literally watch only Netflix, Cubs games, and rerun Big Bang Theory yet we must keep cable to see our local baseball team (and hockey) in the winter.
  • @chloe97- sports keeps us tethered to cable too! We are both huge sports fans. Baseball and hockey. Basketball a bit too BC of warriors. And I grew up a huge NFL fan too.

We got rid of cable for a while but are back on it and won't give it up!

  • I'm with you all on the "illusion/misconception that having kids is easy" and the anxiety it provokes when others think this. Whenever DH talks about his two sisters who are each pregnant with their fourth, he talks about how they always "planned their children together"....that when one would get pregnant they'd call the other and then she'd get pregnant too so that their kids are all the same age. Like poof. It was that easy. FOUR. TIMES. Ugh. It turns my stomach every time and thinking about it and the fact that they're both going to have newborns soon almost gives me a panic attack on the spot :'(
  • Oh,  @rainbowturtles - I'm so sorry :( I have 3 sisters and 3 of us have kids all kind of close in age but it was NOT planned quite like that. Although, last winter when I got pregnant, I'm 95% sure my sister got pregnant on purpose right after. Not to have kids right at same age but so she could 'one up' me and have her 4th. So, she was able to plan it. Gets me so bad.

  • @chloe97 - I'm happy to see you have some good news and I hope everything goes well with your ultrasound!

@rainbowturtles- That makes me so ragey. I have a SIL who can apparently get pregnant on command and my brother had always made it a point to say how easy it is have kids. STFU.

    2. I'm back at square one. AF has arrived. This was our first round trying since my D&C 5/28 so I know I shouldn't be too worried but it was still devastating to see AF yesterday.

    3. It's comforting to have so many women who I can relate to right now. I feel like no one in my life really understands what I'm going through because they haven't experienced a MC (only our close family members know so I'm sure we know people who have gone through this but it's been an unspoken thing).

We're going through the process of buying a house right now which is exciting but after reading all of your stories, I'm afraid people are now going to ask the baby question more than usual because they think that's the next step after buying a home. We're going to a family party this weekend and I'm not sure how well I'm going to be able to handle my emotions if someone brings this up.

     4. I've been watching gymnastics, swimming, track and field and volleyball. I'll pretty much watch everything except for ping pong and the long events like cycling and the marathon. I'm really disappointed I missed trampoline though!

  • 1. Back again. MMC diagnosed at 10 weeks in March. Just had an u/s today that diagnosed another mmc - just waiting to mc now.

    2. Benched.

    3. Trying to figure out whether to wait to mc naturally or have a d&c. I miscarried naturally right after my u/s last time so I didn't have a decision to make. Since this is my second one I am not sure if any testing after a d&c would be beneficial. Also frustrated with my drs office I feel like they are a little too lax about all of this. I feel like they just treat mc like something that happens and you can't do anything about it. Just in the one week I have been dealing with them for this pregnancy I have dealt with 2 different nps. One very nice, one who I have dealt with for all the years I have been treating there was rather cold after my u/s last week she said she just came in bec she heard we were freaking out.. it's like what? And today the u/s tech said a dr I have never heard of from a totally different office than the one I treat with is going to call me today to let me know my next step is. Its like okay that's comforting!? I think maybe switching drs offices might be my next step.

    4. Have been watching bits and pieces of Olympics - love Simone Biles!
  • @TScalei oh I'm so sorry, so many hugs. I definitely think changing dr's is a good idea. Take care of yourself <3

  • @rainbowturtles you know I can relate, girl! my sil also got pregnant right away, I'm pretty sure to sync up with her sister. And the panic attack feeling, I know it well. They wanted to send me an invite to her shower in September. My first thought was I would rather jump off the Brookyln bridge/ dig myself a hole all the way to China/ book a flight to Guam than go to that shower.

@TScalei - I'm sorry for your loss.. I would say go with your gut instinct and go to another doctor. One thing I've learned from all this is that you absolutely have to be pro active about your medical/ family needs. Do your own research, talk to people who have been through it, and seek other opinions. good luck

  • @TScalei I'm so sorry for your loss. I also have had 2 MCs and I will saying knowing what caused the 2nd has been helpful. That being said, I've also had to do 2 D&Cs and if I could do it all over again, I would not have done a D&C with my 1st, but opted for Cytotec. The reason is because the 2nd MC I had to have a D&C and my lining has subsequently thinned quite a bit. I've also been very worried about scarring as well. I'm still waiting on a test in a few weeks to check more closely for scarring issues, and my RE said that my lining should thicken and may not cause a problem with conceptuon, but now I'm worried if I have a MC and need a 3rd D&C.

If you want to MC at home and to test for chromosomal abnormalities, a lot of hospitals allow you to miscarry at home and bring the specimen in to be tested. It's not ideal though I understand.

I hope my post isn't alarmist. I will say that my Dr is adament that D&Cs rarely cause scarring, but I've had so much anxiety over my recovery from my 2nd MC. I'm pretty sure I had a period in which I didn't bleed with my first cycle and my 2nd cycle was very light. again, so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself!
  • @KarenBeth714- I know one thing this situation has taught me is that you have to be your own advocate. A friend referred me to infertility specialists she saw for recurrent losses and I am going to give them a call. Its a bit daunting to be going down the infertility doctor road but I think being proactive about it will help me.

@chloe97 - don't worry your post isn't alarmist at all. I would like to know people's experiences with it. I had a natural mc last time and my natural inclination is to do it again. Did testing from the d&c you have lead to knowing what caused your mc?

@TScalei I actually found out at week 12 that my baby had Triploidy after 2 failed NIPTs, a very bad ultrasound (with a HB), and a subsequent CVS. Because I had very bad betas at 6 weeks, I had been preparing to miscarry naturally and was working with my OB to collect the fetid at home and bring it to the lab. It never happened, the heart beat kept going until sometime between my CVS and our scheduled D&C. It was 7 weeks of hell, knowing the pregnancy was likely doomed, but try to keep faith that things would be ok.
  • @chloe97 - ugh I'm sorry. This process is so tough!
