I posted on my FB about getting a Costco card because I've heard the Kirkland diapers are good. Somebody said Kirkland are just Huggies in a Kirkland box and made a face. I then had another friend say that Pampers worked better for boys than girls.
FTM here with a girl. What type of diapers are you going to buy and why? I don't plan on cloth diapering, it's just not for me.
Re: Diaper Brands
-Costco wipes are amazing
- Costco diapers are good but not as amazing as the wipes.
Also, apparently some babies blister after wearing Target diapers... So we'll probably steer clear of those.

luvs had to much of a perfume smell at first. Target brand- my kid reeked like pee when we used them. They also seemed scratch and they would really fill up when he would pee. Huggies we only tried the newborn and i didn't care for the umbilical cord cut out.

If you find that a certain brand works for you for a while and suddenly you're getting frequent blowouts, it usually means you need to size up.
Target was the absolute worst (Up&up). Luvs were also terrible. Never tried Kirkland but have heard good things. Honest diapers have a very similar fit to swaddlers, but are less soft. Seventh generation always worked fine but aren't in our regular rotation (also not very soft). About to try Huggies overnites because pampers baby dry have given us TONS of leaks after sleeping all night. I'm also planning to try Berkley Jensen for overnight, as I've heard good things. If you have the dollars and/or inclination, Bambo nature are a very green/biodegradable brand that get fantastic reviews.
I'm planning on using Pampers, but will also get a month subscription for $20 off with Honesty, and then may switch for good over to My Diaper Box.
DD was extremely chunky. We liked swaddlers at first, but when the blowouts started happening, the only diaper that could contain those were Luvs. When we started only using sposies for leaving the house and naps/nighttime, we found Luvs held the most pee (she was a super soaker). But when we went out, we used Pampers Sensitive (swaddlers started giving her a rash). As she got older, we liked Huggies because they seemed to buldge less. I honestly didn't like Honest Company because they were so bulky. I think we only tried Kirkland once, and after she peed one time it looked like she had a massively full diaper.

My my dd was always in the 95 percential for height and weight and felt like Luv's were longer so they held up better with her, but I could see if you have a little peanut how those may not be the best choice.
@Piperella any idea if the diaper box sends to Canada?
As far as what brands I used, we were Pampers exclusively. DD was long and lean, and they were really thin too. I like the yellow line that changes color with pee (helpful for first time parents learning about when is a diaper wet). We did get hand me downs from other parents who had kids just ahead of us so we were able to try out several brands (Luvs and Huggies, but neither seemed to fit her well), and Pampers worked the best for us. I say reach out to other moms you know, if they have leftovers that their LOs outgrew or something that maybe you can try before you buy, and see what your LO reacts to the best.

With DS we used Pampers swaddlers for nb size. Switched to Honest Co for a while, which I loved (and their wipes are great) but they are a bit pricey. Now we use Kirkland brand, and yes they are basically the same as Huggies Little Movers, but they are a good price and work well for us. For reference, DS has pretty much always been around 75% for height and 15% for weight, so tall skinny kid. I will say in the past few weeks he has been soaking through overnight, so I'm looking into overnight options now!
Ones I really didn't like: Luvs smelled really chemically to me, the Pampers with the mesh layer were weird/gross once his poop was more sticky, and Huggies not the little movers ones) leaked when he was smaller. Hope that helps!
It it really just depends on your kid. No real way to plan ahead other then to have a few different brands on hand for trial and error
We tried Huggies at each size and they never worked well for her. The Target brand were so stiff and scratchy that I felt bad putting them on her
Wipes were another story. Huggies shred a bit more than the others, but not so much that I wouldn't buy them. I just got whatever was on sale. Fortunately she wasn't overly sensitive to any of them.
ETA: we used Huggies for a while on our oldest who was 99th %tile since birth, and they were terrible. Always leaked, he was always soaked.
She's a STM so she probably has a better idea for her kids.
TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year.

IT'S A BOY!!!
We've been stockpiling all brands, so trial and error for us, I guess.
