What color are your cabinets? Also just from our experience wood/tile sucks for babies learning to crawl. Just something to consider and thought I'd throw out there.

I love 1 and 2. I personally like 1 the best because I think the lighter color opens up rooms and makes them look brighter and bigger. But I don't think you can go wrong with any of them!
I picked 1 because of the cabinet stain. I just finished painting my cabinets white, and it was a HELL of a job. It took about 3 weeks, and I worked on them every day. And it took over my whole house, not to mention my whole life. I wouldn't buy floors based on a potential cabinet paint job. It's a huge commitment, and you don't want to marry yourself to that plan if you don't have to.
I I will say that I LOVE how my cabinets turned out. If you ever want any info on how I did it, I'll be happy to share!! I'll send you before and after pics to show you the huge transformation, too
Same as pp, I originally voted 2, but I'm switching to 1 after seeing the cabinets. Also, the comment about how lighter floors will make the room look bigger and brighter is a good point
Another thing is that my hallway is reeeeeaalllyyyyy dark. I feel like 2 may darken it more.
I like 1 & 2. I think that I was leaning towards 2 in cabinet picture, but this makes me lean towards 1. I'm assuming in the dark hallways it would look like 2 so it would be a good balance. 2 in a dark hallway might be darker than you'd want like you mentioned.

2 because it won't show dirt/scratches quite as obviously. 1 would be 2nd choice because it's a happy medium between too light and light enough to brighten the hallway. 3 is too light, and 4 is just too busy!
Its number 1 from me, whilst the darker would prob be easier to keep i think it 1 goes better with the cabinets & will make the hallway brighter & bigger.

If you have lots of natural light my vote is 2 or if your house is like mine where not a ton of sunlight makes it into the house then my vote is 1. I think both would look good with your cabinets even if you change the color to a darker or lighter cabinet color later down the road.

I know you don't like #4, and nobody else is sharing love for it, but I actually think it will compliment the rooms nicely. I think because it will be covering so much floor space, having the darker strip will look nice. If it were only in a small room it could look cramped, but going through different rooms will be enough space to see the beauty behind the multi colored strips. I don't think it will be too busy. With the picture in the living room (?) It will look beautiful sitting under the colorful padded bench seat. In the kitchen next to the cabinets, I think the light color will look good against the wood and will still look good if you do end up painting them a color. The dark stripe will tie in with the countertops. Seeing just a sample square my first thought was to like #2, but #4 in a whole layout will look really nice.
I think 1. If you go with two you'll be more stuck with lighter wall colors. We do darker floors in our rentals, but always with those boring light tan walls.

I always do light walls. I'm not a fan of dark walls because our house is smaller and one story.
We have the same color cabinets and I want to paint them so badly but H is afraid we'll ruin them. I can't change anything else (countertops, floors, etc) until we figure this out. Share a picture with the finished product please! I want to see how the lighter wood looks next to the honey oak cabinets.
I've had both light and dark floors and I've always preferred light to the dark. Dark shows feet prints, dog nail marks, etc much easier. Granted I'm not saying light floors allow you to let your house get filthy, but you won't be mopping daily like you will with dark floors.
@hudson1029 If you are considering upgrading your floors any time soon with dogs, they make vinyl flooring now that is freaking fantastic. You basically cannot hurt the stuff... water, dogs, whatever. Even paint will scrape off of it after it's dried.
And if you're a DIY fan, it is super easy to install with no special tools. You need one of those snap off razor knives, and some knee pads. DH and I put down our first bedroom of this stuff in about 2 hours, and we sped up slightly from there.

I don't like 4, it's weird. ( H pick)
But I like 2-4 equally.
