I haven't woken up because of it but I have noticed my arms being asleep when I wake up. I think it's because I found myself sleeping with my arms above my head (which is not how I slept pre-pregnancy) now that I have a pregnancy pillow I can sleep closer to how I was sleeping before I got pregnant and haven't had as much of an issue
@kenglish1 yes! I am constantly waking up and having to move from sleeping limbs! It's the worst! Mostly mine is one arm, which I apparently stick straight off the side of the bed whenever I'm on my left side.
@kenglish1@hayhay87 Yes! I thought it was my pregnancy pillow too, because it's usually the arm I'm sleeping on (and under the pregnancy pillow). It definitely wakes up faster, but it's really weird. I never thought about it until you mentioned it.
I drool like crazy when I sleep. It's disgusting. I don't even understand where all the fluid comes from in my mouth.
Glad it's not just me, but I'm kind of lost on how I'm supposed to sleep now! Seems like it happens no matter which pillow I use or which position I'm in. The joys of pregnancy.
@kenglish1 this was happening to me! I couldn't figure out why, but my husband said I kept throwing my arms up over my head in weird positions so maybe that was it? I have a glorious Leachco U shaped pillow so I've been tucking my arms underneath so that they can't flail above my head. I think it's working? This pillow won't let me turn onto my back though so even when I wake up, I'm still slightly on my side which is good.
The only problem with the U shape pillow is that it's so big I had to start sleeping in the guest room. Really great for my marriage you know.
My arms fall asleep when Ive slept on one side for too long but other than that I just have some hip pain a couple times a night, and again I just switch sides. I have not been sleeping on my back at all since around 15 weeks.

Same exact thing for me! I've always been a side sleeper but now I cannot fall asleep that way or even stay that way while asleep! I wake up with my arms above my head and on my back and I don't know how to stop!
So I've been alternating between my pregnancy pillow and regular pillows. Depends on the night. My hips are really bothering me from sleeping on my side and a pillow between the knees isn't really helping. I have found though, if I put a pillow on the bed and put my legs on top of it (under my knees) it seems to help the hips. Getting and being comfortable is tough work. I am still most comfortable on my back and find I end up there. I try to stay propped up with pillows but depending on the night it's no use. My son ends up in with us most nights. I can't wait until his room is finished and he has a big bed to sleep in. Then we can lay with him when needed and sneak out back in to our room. Sleep will be a little easier at that point (1 more week!!!).
Guys, I'm worried. My ob told me that if I sleep on my back that the blood flow could be cut off to the baby. So, I've been trying to sleep on my side exclusively but I keep waking up on my back. This is making me very very nervous and anxious. I'm planning on buying a pregnancy pillow, but I have an u/s appointment Monday and I have this rising sense of dread...
ETA:UPDATE
Baby was perfect at the u/s and I now have a Snoogle so no more rolling on my back!
I can't fall asleep unless I'm on my stomach and then somehow I always wake up on my back. If I don't have enough pillows I definitely get uncomfortable so I really have to prop myself up to sleep nowadays.

@LCartee2016 I try to wedge pillows under my side so even if I roll over, I'm not flat on my back. The weight of the baby/uterus is what can restrict blood flow, so if you can use a pillow to prevent you from being completely flat you eliminate the risk-all that weight isn't resting on blood vessels.
I have not been able to sleep comfortably lately. I feel like I toss and turn all night trying to find a comfortable position and still wake up with my lower/mid back being sore. I even have a snoogle to assist with sleeping on my side. Still uncomfortable for long periods of time. What are your best sleeping position tips?! I was really frustrated & discouraged this morning when I woke up because I just want to sleep good and as of right now I feel like that will never happen again!
I just want to pop in and proclaim my excitement over my new Snoogle. It's fan-freaking-tastic and I sleep like a baby most nights now (unless we fight and it tries to throw me off the bed). I wasn't going to buy one, but I'm so glad I did!!
Reviving this a bit because I just saw my OB today and she said if I am waking up on my back every night that it's probably fine as long as I prop a pillow under my arch of my back. She said my body obviously isn't in distress if it's naturally doing it and it's not affecting my breathing and heart rate. She said they suggest the side to sleep due to less pressure on the heart and chest but ultimately it's about what works for each individual... This gave me a sense of relief knowing if I keep waking up on my back is okay!
Is anyone else waking up during the night due to your limbs falling asleep? It seems like if I am leaning on an arm or my leg or arm is bent at all it falls asleep now. I'm assuming it's due to increased blood flow but wanted to see if anyone else has this issue?
Yes!!!!!! Whichever side I'm laying on that arm is always asleep!!
I am still sleeping half on my stomach and half on my side with my leg bent.... it's starting to get a tad uncomfortable and I always worry about the baby... but it's the only way I can fall asleep!
@Emma61210 I think we sleep the same way and I always feel like I'm squishing the baby! Sometimes he kicks or moves to the other side and I feel like the worst mom ever for squishing my unborn child.
This meme is pretty much the only way I sleep these days. Except the Snoogle is wrapped around my back, under my head, and through my knees.
@emma61210 and @christac1010 I sleep this way too. I've actually been putting a normal pillow under my bent knee and then wedge it up under my belly a little. It helps me feel a little more supported. Normally it doesn't stay under my belly but it helps to start. Not sure if you can get the snoogle up that far, I haven't tried but a regular pillow helps.
So I have discovered a new and fantastic, although ridiculous, sleep solution. After listening to me complain and toss and turn for several nights, DH went and took all the pillows from the guest room and built me what is essentially a sleep fortress. A body pillow on each side, two pillows behind my head to make sort of a ramp incline, and two under my knees. It's basically a two pillow high square with a hole in the middle for my butt. And it is heaven. I can wiggle and roll in any direction and there's always a pillow between my knees and support for my bump. Or I can sleep "on my back" while not laying flat at all! The only downside is I can barely reach DH and I always touch him while I sleep.
@BAJDesigns ha! Whatever works for comfortable sleep! I've been using 2 under my head & 1 or 2 under my knees for comfortable "back" sleeping and it's helped immensely!
@emma61210 this is how I keep finding myself falling asleep too. Last night after waking up for my usual 4am bathroom trip it was the ONLY way I could get comfortable and baby kept kicking me. I hope I wasn't smushing her space!! I have a gigantic pregnancy pillow too but I just keep doing the half stomach / half side position...
Waking up every morning with numb hands and arms is getting old
@hayhay87 haha! Same thing last night I got back in bed and laid half on my tummy and baby kicked the mess out of me until she got comfy again. I'm sure she was aggravated cause I woke her up. Lol!
My husband has become another pillow lately. Propping my knee up on him feels so good for my hips. So basically he can't roll over or move once I'm comfy.
Hi all, so wifey is a side sleeper, lately she's been ending up on her back, she also built a fort like @BAJDesigns lol she mostly switches from side to side. I know that when we both lie in bed when I do my reading, she is on her back and the baby sometimes kicks, she does get 3-4 times a night regularly and it is affecting her sleep patterns. (not a morning person and def needs her 8 hours lol) The whole sleeping on the back thing i've heard many different stories on it not quite sure what to believe. I know she changes positions many times during the night to the point I have a small corner of the bed all to myself. All good things though.
Hello everyone! Just wanna give a shoutout to my Snoogle. I love it so much that I'm giving it its own suitcase and bringing it on my babymoon next week cause what's a babymoon without your huge pregnancy pillow?!
