Pregnant after IF

Lurking from TTCAL - question about Gonal F!

also posted on Success after IF

Hi ladies!

I am lurking from TTCAL board and met with my RE this morning to discuss the next steps since I am done with Clomid.  I most likely will be moving on to Gonal F injections + HCG trigger + TI -- if that doesn't work after a few rounds, same thing but IUI instead of TI.  Have any of you done this and had success with it?  I am really excited but nervous to take these next steps and I need reassurance from anyone who has had success   It was just a lot of info to take in and I think if I can hear the good/positive, I will totally be ok!  Also, is anyone pregnant with multiples?  The nurse stressed how that it is more likely to potentially have multiples.  Thank you!!

Re: Lurking from TTCAL - question about Gonal F!

  • I'm glad your doctor is next steps ready for you! Gonal F/Menopur seems to do pretty well for many folks, so I wish you the best! A few girls here are pregnant with multiples. The risk is slightly higher with IUI because there may be several follicles ready to go. I don't know what the rates are of multiples for IUI compared to the general population though.

  • Hi @aera11!
I've only been using gonal-F and IUI two times before changing to IVF with Gonal-F (did a total of 5 IUI)
Due to using donor sperm my timing had to be spot on and I was exhausted of not knowing if I managed to get ovulation of 36hrs and survival of sperm of 24hrs matching, so swopped to IVF.
My doctors never had concerns about multiples as they don't do IUI if I would have to many mature eggs. They are very strict on that in Scandinavia.

My bestfriends wife who also has PCOS like me did Gonal-F without TI and got pregnant after second try. She's one month behind me.
Here in Norway Gonal-F is the 'to-go-to' drug.

GL on your journey. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

  • Thank you @dragonfaerie & @tvh1982 .  I saw my RE and am moving forward with Gonal F & Ovidrel, FX!!
  • I did clomid + trigger + IUI, then gonal f + trigger + IUI, finally, the magic combo for me was clomid + gonal f ( lower dose than first time) + trigger + IUI.

    Good luck!

  • @Aera11 I did only IUI's and then IVF with Gonal F and Menopur so no experience there, but I just wanted to wish you the best !
