  • @Schell2013 and @sidecarsareforbishes YES to all. Being pregnant is for the birds. We are done after this one- I never want to be pregnant again. I had a particularly pushy aunt at a reunion drilling me about how I'll change my mind and I told her the only way we'd grow our family again is through the magic of adoption or if an unknown kid from one of DH's previous relationships surfaces.  :D

Also @NoraAurora the squatty potty is a game changer! For a while I just used a stool high enough to get my knees up. It worked just as well, so in hindsight (hindersight hehe) I would have just stuck with that. Life changing either way!

Yes, yes, and yes. I didn't want to be pregnant before trying and spent several months in contact with the adoption agency but there simply aren't any unwanted babies in the EU and international adoption is soooo expensive so we decided to try the old-fashioned way. I am SUPER excited about this baby but I am NEVER doing this again. Either we are done or Baby #2 will be adopted.

  • I sometimes use my son's step stool as a squatty potty substitute.  So, you could kill two birds with one stone and get a matching potty chair and stool and store it until your baby is old enough to train
    Brilliant.
  • I had to google this squatty potty- had never heard of it! It looks like of uncomfortable! But I'm assuming it helps if all of you are raving about it!

My Dr told me not to take alka seltzer, and to try tums instead. I switched to alka seltzer in the first place because tums were starting to gross me out and I LOVE those chewy alka seltzers!
Well I figured out they say no due to the aspirin that is in Original Alka Seltzer. But my type (chewy heartburn relief) only has calcium carb in it.
So I'm still going to take them. They are my saving grace from this wicked heartburn!
My Doc gave the chewables the A-OK!  Plus, they really DO work much better than Tums

  • More of a confession of ignorance...When I first came to the boards, I had read through the commonly used acronyms, but hadn't memorized them, and I didn't frequent baby or TTC boards previously.  I figured I'd just go by context clues.  Anyway I spent the first few weeks thinking that FTM meant female-to-male, and thinking wow we are an awesome progressive and diverse group.  It wasn't until STM popped up that I looked it up and the light bulb went off. duh
I also though AMA meant against medical advice, and was wondering why so many doctors were telling people not to have babies.
I'm AMA and still cringe every time a medical professional refers to me that way because it's always been Against Medical Advice and my pregnant self hears it as extremely judgey.

    FOURTH DEGREE HEMORRHOIDS?!  :#

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • @TurtleMomma yes... They are no joke.  The pain before I got the prescribed cream and oxycodone made me wish to pass out often or just have a constant epidural the next seven weeks. I'm still hoping they go down more so they don't hurt on top of labor pains when the time comes.  If not,  I'm just going to suck it up and go with the epidural instead of nitrous oxide.
  • Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I can't even imagine. I've still got hemorrhoids from DS but they're generally manageable. "Forth degree" anything just makes me want to cry thinking about it.

  • @Piperella Didn't you mention they were going surgically remove them? Did the specialist decide not to?

  • @piperella I had them with DS1 and I can't imagine how painful fourth degree ones are!

my girlfriend just had that rubber band surgery- can't remember what it's called and she said recovery was a little worse than she anticipated but it has been helpful.
  • @LauraPCOS We were scheduled to have surgery on them, but when he actually took a closer look at them, and realized I was 33 weeks this week, he cancelled it.  He said my body would not in heal in time for labor.  I've been on a cream that is supposed to numb and shrink them (they are slowly, and it does numb everything that cream touches...lol) and on oxycodone.  I'm trying to stay off the oxycodone as much as possible.  I am on bedrest again this week and if the pain is as bad as it was last week, he will reconsider banding or removal via surgery.
  • @Piperella ... All I can say is, you poor thing. I know you'll be so happy when those things are gone!
  • @Piperella Oh man, I was hoping it had been taken care of. FX you get lots of rest and they shrink! *Hugs*

  • @Piperella Ugh, so sorry you're dealing with this!  I was hoping you'd had them removed and were breathing a sigh of relief!!  Hoping they shrink fast and you can get a little more comfortable!!
  • @Piperella I'm so sorry, I can only imagine how much pain you must be in. Hoping the cream works and you start feeling better!
