he is ALWAYS on the right and is invading my ribs... i cannot sit comfortably at all. I remember someone said that fetuses prefer the right side but i cant remember why...

  • I'd like to know too - He never, ever goes over to the left side, no matter how crowded he is in there.

  • I think maybe it was the all knowing Tarta?  I don't know but I think my son has broken my rib over there.  I need a room divider for my uterus so I can kick him over to the left side.
  • Both my boys crowd to the right, the majority of my day is spent looking lopsided.
  • I don't know the answer, but mine likes it over there too!  I usually get a bad burning sensation under my ribs and my doctor said that was the kid putting pressure on my liver, lovely visual!
  • Wow, you too?  My guy hangs out on the right side too and it hurts like a MF'er - like I have a constant charley horse.

My doctor had trouble taking an accurate belly measurement the other day b/c he was sitting so lopsided.

I am interested to find out why too.

  • My babies are always on the left.  In fact, I only have a few stretch marks on the left side because of it.  Nothing on my right.
  • That's strange. I have the exact same thing. She used to like the left side when she was smaller but now it's all right side. I can't even sleep on my left side. She makes is uncomfortable.

  • Mine is always hanging out on the right...my stomach is so lop-sided.
  • My little man's the opposite--he's constantly hanging out on the left side.  What in the world is wrong with spreading out and enjoying what room he has across my whole uterus?
  • Both of my girls have prefered the right side but I have also heard moms say that their baby always hung out on the left side....Maybe each of us has one side that is just more cushy than the other?
  • My baby boy LOVES my right side too. When I lay down my belly looks completely lopsided because he is always chilling over there. It doesn't hurt me at all, probably because I am carying him so low, but it is kind of funny to see. Its like only 1/2 of my body is pregnant.
  • My doctor told me last week that if you feel most of the movement on the right side (which I feel the same as everyone here is saying) that it means the baby is in the right position to be born.  It means his head is facing down so when he comes out of the birth canal his neck won't snap back.  if his legs were to the left, the natural way they would start to come out of the birth canal is with their face looking up which is dangerous to the neck.

Sooo - good news for all of you!  Your babies are ready and in position for birth!  YAY! I do however feel your pain.  I felt like mine was a little monkey swinging from my right rib as if it were a tree branch.

thank you for the medical explanation! we knew our guy was head down but this is even better news that he's also face down. he is allowed to come out in 2.5 weeks!

I barely ever feel anything on the left anyway because of my anterior placenta and atogether, I think I feel a lot less than what I read other women feel.  But I would say that I probably mostly feel what I think are his legs/feet on the right side too, which makes me believe that he is head down!

  • My guy hangs out on the right side too! What I think (and hope) are his feet are shoved up under my ribs where he politely kicks me all night long. At least it sounds like he's doing what he's supposed to!
