Doesn't FMLA only apply if you have 6 months of work?
Most companies it's a year.. I don't know anybody that applies for it early in their pregnancy anyway. This whole thing is really shitty. I'm so sorry @AfKash
Thank you for everyone's support. It really truly means a lot to me, right now. I feel better just being able to talk to you about it. And yes, that is what I thought, too, that FMLA is for after one year of hire. I started this job on May 2nd. But when I was on the phone with them, like my brain just want working. And I should have said something about the FMLA and I also should have asked them point blank if they are doing this because I'm pregnant....just to see what their reaction would be.
At this point, I'm not sure if I should even try to find another full-time job. As I stated in a separate post, who would hire me while I'm pregnant, anyway? Do I even go through that headache? I'm thinking about looking for a part-time position, though. The other reason being that just being so exhausted all the time from the pregnancy itself.
Again, thank you to ALL of you for your support. You're really helping me get through this difficult time and keeping me from freaking out. I've just been so angry that I've been crying.
Aw, @AfKash I'm so sorry to hear about your job. It's downright criminal what some companies get away with. Though I would definitely follow up with a different HR person in your company and air your concerns, it should absolutely raise red flags that they let you go just after they found out you were pregnant.
I once got let go for having a panic attack at my desk and getting sick into the trashcan at my cubicle 7 times in the course of four hours. (Found out it was hormonally driven as I had just started a new type of BC, the attacks stopped as soon as the pills did). When I finally asked to go home they said that was fine, and the next day they presented me with term papers saying because I left I was voluntarily resigning my position at the company. I didn't want it back.
@MrsLittleMac do you really think I could talk to a different HR person? In my past experience, I've learned that HR exists only to protect the company, not the employees. I feel like they will say and do anything to get rid of you, if they really want. So that's why I feel like nobody else will help me, either.
I wouldn't put off a job search just because "who would hire a pregnant girl". I have a friend who lost her job at like 6 months pregnant (it was nothing shady, the company just went under), and she found a new job fairly quickly. Yes, she said there were some interviews that she could tell the pregnancy was going to prevent her from getting a job, but she was surprised how many potential employers were understanding.
So if it's something important to you, don't let this terrible experience prevent you from looking. Some jobs are a-holes, but some places have compassionate people too.

Yep, and if they smell a whiff of lawsuit potential they will do what they can to minimize it!
My mother in law is a medical coder and she has always had a main job and a part time work from home job. I'm not sure if you have to be coding for a certain amount of time before working from home, but that could be something to look into?
She was actually trying to get me to do medical coding so I could work from home when I started a family because it always worked out well for her.
@SawyerRichardson I could work from home, too. It's just that regardless of whether it's from home or the office, they want somebody with more experience.
Re: Twatwaffle Tuesday 8/2
This sounds shady AF.
What was your date of hire/start date?
Big Bro 7/14/13
Little Bro 2/6/17
