I just had a massage and an adjustment at the chiropractor. I feel like a new person. And I get to do it again on Friday. I left M with my husband for two hours, which was hard but he did great!
Recommendations for new tv shows I can binge watch on Netflix? I'm finishing up PLL and criminal minds currently but I have no idea what to get into next.
I'm already looking at baby Halloween stuff because I'm crazy. Probably an UO but I think baby costumes are usually pretty dumb, I LOVE all the little coordinating outfits though.
@rnyland1 I love Friends, Parks&Recreation, The Office, 30 Rock..also Supernatural and Bones. I am definitely checking out Stranger Things when I'm finished with Bones, I keep hearing great things about it everywhere.
@theshannondee Since I'm off in October I've been warning my husband about the 31 days of Halloween we may experience this year. So many picture opportunities
Jane the Virgin is pretty fun. I also like Parks and Rec, psych, and archer. My mom bought two cute Halloween outfits today for Aubrey. Not sure what she will be yet, though
What's everyone else doing after husbands go back to work? I've got 2 more months leave after he returns and I feel like I'm going to be bored and lonely with just me and baby all day every day... We need activities!
@PootsDragon I've watched a lot of netflix admittedly while feeding and then when he sleeps I rest or eat or clean. When I get stir crazy I pack him up and drive to my mom's for company and so my dog can run around with her dog. I want to start going to Mommy & Me classes soon too, I'm all about keeping busy! Now that he's more alert during the day we do more floor time and reading too!
@PootsDragon Now I have a toddler with a busy schedule, but last time I took DD to baby time at the library and some local organized play dates. She couldn't play yet, but I could talk to other moms.
After 2 weeks unplugged while my husband was home with us, I'm happy to be back on the board. I have lots of catching up to do, including posting a birth announcement!
My husband just returned back after 2 weeks off. Each morning I make a small to do list for the day. Each day will include some sort of exercise for me (light yoga/stretching for now), getting out of the house in one way or other (a walk, visiting someone, errands, etc), a cleaning task, and something that's just for me. It feels good to check stuff off the list but it's not overwhelming. We're currently cluster feeding and its so easy to feel like I get nothing done except nursing my sweet girl. So having a manageable little list helps me feel sane. I also make dinner most nights and get dressed with hair and makeup everyday. I'm hoping to add a baby story time or something similar in the fall when she's not so new @PootsDragon
@LDSJM123 I like your daily planning. I've just been winging it and nothing gets accomplished. I intended to deep clean the front of the house yesterday and despite the feeling that I worked very hard I don't feel like I got very far. I was disappointed. I may adopt your method.
DH didn't really take any time off from work (he went back to work the day we were discharged from the hospital) but he has been taking every Wednesday off. This past weekend he ended up working overtime, and he told us that he wasn't going to be able to take tomorrow off, and I was super bummed about it. Turns out, he worked late last night and can take tomorrow off, so I'm trying to think of something for all of us to do that would also entertain a 6 year old. It's still fairly warm here, so I don't want to spend too much time outside with the baby, but I know my oldest is getting a bit bored.
@erin7264 yes! I always accidently drip all over her face when I'm trying to get her to latch. I feel so bad but can't help but to laugh every time it happens lol @setosh I tried that one night, but woke up with them all bunched in the wrong spot. ): as much as I'm going to dislike it, I'm going to have to wear my nursing bra to bed
@PootsDragon I go for walks everyday (I am determined to make two dogs plus baby not awkward) and try to have some sort of mission out of the house. The heat has had us trapped more than I'd like but I'm looking at it as cuddling and c/s recovery time. Starting in September there are a bunch of mommy and baby cafes and classes will be dropping in on.
I've actually found that my nicer PJs I had have been the best for wearing to bed for nursing because they hold nursing pads in place and are super comfy. I hate wearing bras to bed. I ended up buying more just for that purpose! Mine are these ones from AdoreMe (beware their subscription conspiracy if you buy from them) but I'm sure other places have similar sleep tops that would work the same!
This is more of a confession than anything, but our sheets have milk stains all over them from my random leaking. I will not wear a bra to bed and DH complains if I wear PJ's. Andplusalso it's hot, we have no AC.

I'm so guilty of the milk stains. But that's from being lazy and nursing while in bed.
I hate leaking and always wear a nursing bra to bed. It was so nice when DD was weaned and I didn't need it anymore.
DH's grandma, "you're not driving yet, are you?" LO is 10 days old and I had a normal vaginal delivery with like 2 stitches. Apparently in the 60s, she was told not to drive for 6 weeks. So hard not to roll my eyes at her and just be polite. She also showed me how she cuts the tops off of strawberries after seeing how I did it.
I've tried Swaddle Me swaddles and Halo Sleepsacks...any other types of swaddles people are using successfully? My LO kicks out of pretty much all swaddles and can get his arms out of almost any swaddle and then wakes himself up.
@whataboutscience the hospital told me not to drive for two weeks. Mostly because if you get in an accident and are driving you risk extra injury to the and abdomen from the steering wheel. I had a vaginal delivery as well. I has never heard of not driving until I was leaving the hospital and it was included in my discharge directions.
@rnyland1 swaddleme also has a swaddle pod which zips up. It doesn't keep their arms as snug (they can put their hands up by their faces while still in the sack) but keeps them in.
100% guilty of the milk stains also. I just can't be bothered about it though. After wearing a bra all day, the best thing ever is taking it off. So I'm taking it off! And I'm definitely not ripping the sheets off the bed everyday to wash them! What. Ever.
I was told not to drive for two weeks also, although I took LO to her appointment by myself 3 days after discharge. DH was back to work so not like I had much choice. They also said no heavy lifting and no sex, so I'm 0 for 3 on following directions I guess!
@rnyland1 try this swaddle method. Baby's body weight holds the first blanket down. Keeps the arms in. You could do a velcro swaddle me as the second layer for ease.
@rnyland1 Summer Infant Swaddle Pod/SwaddleMe Pod! There is zero chance of hands getting out, plus has a zipper at top and bottom so you can use the bottom zipper to change a diaper without taking them out.
@Backbypopulardemand and anyone else who has watched Stranger Things, this is going to sound super lame, but was it scary? I am such a wimp and can't handle anything scary!! But I am curious about it
@arhodes6 There are definitely scary parts. I am also a wimp, but the story made up for the scary parts. I had to watch it with all the lights on and with my husband.
I want to have a glass of wine but I can't bring myself to to it. I think after watching my mom try and take care of my niece while drinking heavily (i used to have to go relieve my niece of that nonsense when my sister was working) I've developed a complex over drinking when I'm taking care of a small human. I'm totally not bashing anyone who does - I know this is just a Samantha complex. I just wish I could get over it.
Re: 8/1 randoms
Stranger Things

we love our halo swaddle our hospital had them as well and she sleeps so well in it
