Monday Bitchfest- 8.1.16

Re: Monday Bitchfest- 8.1.16

  • Oh perfect timing. I'm super pissed at clients that make an intake appointment and simply don't show up for it. I plan my whole work day around my appointments, I prep for them, and if these people don't show up I don't make money (I'm paid per session). In the last few weeks 7 out of 8 intakes have no showed. It's so rude! Not to mention I can't take new clients after 20 weeks pregnant so it's important I fill my caseload now :(

  • Starting the in-law-bitching! I posted over on TTGP Check In too, but ughhh so annoyed. My OB has agreed that because I had my last baby so fast it makes the most sense to induce me at 39 weeks so I don't have to labor at home and try to figure out how soon I need to come in and run into problems waiting too long. So far my induction date is the day before my birthday and we were at my husband's grandmother's family reunion this past weekend and there are quite a few pregnant ladies in the family so we were all sitting around talking. I mentioned that I wasn't looking forward to being in the hospital on my birthday but that I was glad I wouldn't be in actual labor on my birthday. Well here comes his grandma to chime in with her "oh famous last words! You could go into labor on your birthday or on the day before and be in labor for a long time" and even though I kept trying to explain that it would never happen because INDUCTION DUE TO FAST LABORS meant this baby was coming before my birthday no matter what and she just kept shaking her head and saying "famous last words".
She's bugged me since our older daughter was born, when she was 3 weeks old we took her to meet said grandma and we were standing outside in 100+ degree heat and the poor baby was just crying and crying and his dumb grandma was like "oh she's gassy!" and I kept asking her to return my baby so I could take her inside and she wouldn't because she was "working her gas out" and then she told all of my husband's cousins that my baby sure was cute, but cried too much! OH and at my baby shower she asked if she could call my baby something that wasn't her name and I told her I would prefer she didn't she goes "well I'm gonna do it anyway" So she's a peach.
  • @katesmama0706 I'm curious to know how fast your first labor was. Mine was quick too but they've never mentioned inducing me. My husband's grandma says things like yours does. It's pretty annoying and DH never says anything.
  • I had a bleeding scare yesterday and ended up in the ER. Everyone kept acting like it wasn't a big deal. I understand spotting after DTD is normal, but having blood down your thighs is not. I was a freaking mess and DH had to keep telling people that there was a solid amount of blood. Then they would do the physical exam and be like OH. I guess pure right. Also people in the ER kept commenting on how tiny I was for almost 18 weeks. Um can we focus on the health of my baby here?!

As a follow up, I had to call my OB this morning to set up an appointment this week. The office never took their phone off night service so I had to keep stepping out of the office to make the call. It was almost an hour before I could get through to set up the appointment. I know it's a Monday but get it together people!
  • This is a totally stupid one but I am so annoyed waiting for the results of my Harmony test.  I had it done 2 weeks ago today.  I asked about when the results would be in and they said generally 2 weeks but lately it has been as soon as a week.  I have been trying to wait patiently but at this point I am so annoyed that they are not in yet.  I know "first world problems" but ugh I just want to know that everything is ok!

@underthesea it was less than 5 hours from first contraction to full delivery, I was actually induced last time as well due to low amniotic fluid levels. I asked for the induction up front, but my doctor agreed that it made sense for me.

@christac1010 ugh with the ER during pregnancy. I went during my last pregnancy and I'm over here freaking about my baby and the nurse is all "is her face swollen?" To my husband and when he said no she looks at me and goes "oh. That's just your face?" Shut up and focus on the doppler please. I hope you finally got through to your doctor!
  • @christac1010 Oh no. Is everything okay now? Has the bleeding stopped or were they at least able to figure out the cause of it? Hoping everything's better now!
  • @christac1010 that's so scary!  Is everything ok?!

@katesmama0706 that is fast! I'm anxious I'm not going to make it to the hospital this time. My contractions came on fast around 10 am and went to LD. They sent me home at 12:30 at 4cm with contractions 4 min apart. They said it would still be a long time and labor might stop. I walked in the door at 1:00, my water broke within 5 minutes. At LD I was 10 cm and baby came at 3:00. This time I demand they listen to me when I tell them it's time and I'm not leaving!!
  • @underthesea ugh yeah if they won't admit you I'd park myself right in front of admittance and tell them you aren't moving until they get you into triage. I went from a 7 cm to 10 in 3 minutes and the nurse argued with me when I said I had to push. This time around I won't be taking any shit from nurses.
  • Mine is work-related.  I'm back at work after a week off.  I just don't want to be here. Our harvest intern just started last week and the other person that oversees interns with me is out so he's all mine to think up tasks for.  I feel like I'm on babysitting duty right now.  At least I have a 2pm OB appointment so I get to ease back into the week with a short day.

@canavara UGH.  That's so irritating.  There are certain people at my work that ask for vague information all the time and then get upset I didn't put it in the exact format they wanted (even though they never told me how they wanted it).  It drives me batty at times.

  • Mine is fairly minor today - I am sitting in my living room and can see/hear my neighbour going to TOWN on watering his planets and his grass. We are in the middle of a drought and have water restrictions in place, not to mention watering at 11 a.m. is a total waste, because so much water gets evaporated in the heat of the day; there's a reason it's recommended to water first thing in the morning or in the evening. But dude is totally taking advantage of the fact today is a public holiday in BC so there are no bylaw enforcement officers out.
  • @canavara The bleeding is definitely lessened but has yet to completely stop. It took them two hours to figure out that I have a very sensitive spot on my cervix that is bleeding from DTD (also she asked me if we used a sex swing or other tools - what are people doing while pregnant?!). Everything looked good though (amniotic fluid, baby's size, cervix length/closure, blood tests), so no one seems overly concerned. Well besides me, because who wants to see blood/clots at almost 18 weeks pregnant?

Right?? I don't think there's ever a time in pregnancy where you see clots that you're not allowed to freak out. Glad your LO is doing okay even though you had a really scary experience there!
  • @canavara
Welcome to my world. I work as a Business Analyst/Project Manager in IT. This is my life, I get requirements from the business side and make sure they are clear enough for the developers to work on and manage that so it gets to the business on time. So I feel your pain in the non thought out requirements department. I literally just had someone drop a enhancement request at my desk (we have an internal website for this) and tell me here is a hard copy "for my records". ...Thanks. *Eye Twitch* plus the enhancements directly contradict other requirements of the system.

I feel like pregnancy rage is in full force. Yesterday I went grocery shopping and I almost lost it. First, I needed Basil (simple enough, right?) couldn't find it. Ask the guy working in produce. "It should be right here." Mint, Sage, Oregano, Cilantro...no Basil. Do people not make pesto? This is the second time I have gone to this grocery store and not found Basil, now I know they just don't carry it. Then they didn't have a single type of Italian sausage, or cheese tortellini. It wasn't like I missed it, I asked and the people looked at me like I was clinically insane. What sort of grocery store doesn't have these simple ingredients?
  • I woke up today feeling like total crap. Sore throat, runny/stuffy nose which I didn't even know was possible, and just plain exhausted. I hate that I can't take anything to help so today I'm am just super crabby.

@canavara I am so sorry you are frustrated and can completely understand. I am an IT project manager and have to communicate with all sorts of teams, some non-technical and some extremely technical. It blows my mind with the responses I get back when I am asking for status updates or even just asking, what can I do to help. I don't think people understand that I could makes their lives so much easier if they just told me what they actually needed!

Pumpkin Spice Gone to Far| Jan '17 September Siggy Challenge

  • I had two people that I work with tell me they didn't even know I was pregnant...."so you just thought I was fat?" "Well kind of?" Wtf guys like that's a pretty obvious bump
  • @mrshuse525 Did you ask your dr and they said not to take anything? I'm currently sick (hopefully at the end) and had a stuffed/runny nose. My dr told me it was fine to take mucinex (plain, not + stuff.) I've also been taking robitussin as mine developed into a cough. She said cough drops, vicks, and throat lozanges were fine.
It's not like the world opened up and I'm great now - but they did help a bit. I have a tendency for sinus infections so I wanted to do what I could to not let that happen.
  • Hopefully soon it won't bother me much, but belly touching this early is not fun.  My mother in law did it when I was like 6 weeks along and I HATED it.  I'm showing a little now, but not enough for it to feel like a true bump.  I feel like people are just rubbing my fat. Ugh
    IAmPregnant Ticker
  • @shlecka I got my first belly rub this weekend, from another pregnant woman, who then said "don't you hate that?!" and laughed. Um, yes, I do so quit it. Even when I was super pregnant last time I was super picky about who was on the list of acceptable people to touch me.
  • I am so sick of feeling nauseated and I'm even more sick of gagging and puking all the time. I'm 15 weeks and more than ready for this to subside.

I have also broke down in tears like four times lately because I'm sad about losing my alone time with DD once this baby comes. Rationally I know it will be fine, but here I sit, bawling, because what if age doesn't adjust? I know she will, but hormones are making me insane.

  • Today I went back to work for the first time all summer since I'm a teacher.  I got to wake up later than usual and worked at a comfortable pace setting up my classroom.  But GOOD LORD am I tired! I don't know what I am going to do when I actually have to be at work on time and teach all day (work doesn't officially start for me until Wednesday).  I'm already missing my summer time naps.  No wonder I was more exhausted during my last pregnancy.  I had to work during the first trimester.
  • I've had a summer cold since Saturday and being sick while pregnant is the worst! Especially since the hubby gave it to me and I diligently avoided trying to catch it. I have debated chopping my head off but seeing as that isn't very logical I'll go for the alternative and just be plain hateful.

In other news, my friend's bachelorette party that I skipped was this weekend. My friend let me know today that while she initially was hurt that I didn't come she was ultimately happy I didn't. I guess one of her future BIL's girlfriend was a complete drama queen and my friend said I would of undoubtedly killed her because she almost did and she was wasted the whole time! Lol She also loved the gift box of goodies I sent her! Thanks again for the awesome idea ladies!
  • Ugh! So I went to my new school today to work in my classroom and my AC wasn't working! Agh!!!! Hopefully it'll be fixed tomorrow...
  • I know I'm late, but I am so sick of this morning sickness! 17weeks tomorrow and all its done is gotten worse the last 3 weeks! Now I'm puking about twice a week, so not as bad as my last pregnancy, but at 14-17weeks the last think I expected was to THEN start the puking.

And on the MIL front, she was driving me nuts on Sunday. The boys were so excited about the new church we tried out so they were talking about it at my SIL birthday party and MIL kept asking questions on why are we leaving where we are, and what happened, and there just HAD to be a reason, and she couldn't picture us at any other church...! What church we go to has nothing to do with you and is a decision between myself and DH! Gah!

  • DH has a cousin that lives nearby and is due in February she texts me pregnancy questions constantly. And I always ALWAYS want to ask if she doesn't have Google? Or a doctor?  I should also add she has 3 other kids. Yet she's still like "can I jump on the trampoline?" or "canI take a hot shower?" Ugh. Today it was more reasonable questions but still totally answerable by 5 seconds of Google.

This drives me absolutely nuts! I'm in a local circle of moms group on Facebook and some of the questions people ask astound me..like seriously 14 seconds on Google and you'll have your answer. The other day someone asked where a certain doctor was located, I literally typed his name and our town into Google and it popped up, couldn't help myself but I answered "Google can help you" Sometimes I just want to snap on people.....I'm hoping this rage goes away soon because I cannot deal with stupid people and my city seems to be FILLED with them! Ugh

@mudderbear omg yes. I was like "I'm not a fountain of pregnancy expertise I just Google well" it makes me so ragey. Especially because she's done this before! If she was a first time mom I'd be way more sympathetic.

  • @mudderbear @katesmama0706 Can I introduce you to lmgtfy.com? It's a website that allows you to be assy when people use you as their google. You go to the website, type the question in, and it generates a link you can send to the person. The person clicks the link, it takes them to the google homepage, types in the question, and then displays the results.

Even if you don't actually use it, perhaps the existence of the site will make you feel better, because so many people have the same problem you do that people went out and wrote code to passive aggressively deal with it :)

Oh I remember this from my last BMB (much more snark). It was hilarious but got the point across.

  • I have a late MBF.

Sexy time comes few and far between lately with hectic schedules and pregnancy exhaustion. So this morning I made a conscious effort to wake up 15 minutes early, shower and shave, and then wake up DH in hopes of starting off the day in a "fun" way. DH was so surprised (I'm NOT a morning person) and just as things are starting to get good, we hear BANG BANG BANG coming from DD's room.

DD just moved into her new room, complete with a big girl bed that she can easily escape from. Apparently she can't quite figure out how to open the door on her own so she proceeds to scream for me while banging incessantly on the damn door. Talk about a mood killer.

  • I have a late one as today is my Monday at work. It is a work one too. So I work in a clinic at a college and we do refills of birth control for students. I am a Medical Assistant there. The MA's are just learning how to do this procedure. I have done it exactly twice with the nurse right by me helping both times. We get a call that a student wants her efill (that's what it's called since they request online) by 2 pm today if possible. The person who answered the phone said it might not be until after 2 because the nurse is out at lunch at the moment. Another MA is listening in said to give it to me since we can do them now. She needs to mind her own effing business!!!! The two times I did it there was a glitch and I haven't been told it was fixed yet in my account. I'm getting all revved up again just recounting this. Where does she get off butting in when she could have easily done it. Oh wait that means she would have had to stop her precious facebook time, oh wait I mean admin time, to do it. If she's such an expert she should do it then GAH! She is lazy to begin with and she butts in where she doesn't belong and doesn't know the whole situation before she says what she wants.

I'm adding an addendum to my MBF: I just hate my company right now. We're definitely doing lay-offs in about 2 weeks and it's created this enormous power imbalance. People that are half-decent at their job are slaving at the mercy of upper management making horrible, flakey, flippant half-assed decisions in a panic for profitability. The people making the decisions are completely disorganized, reactive, and don't seem to have any idea what they're doing.

I've been repeatedly told by people I'm not getting laid off but it just kills me watching upper management try to walk all over people knowing that everyone is terrified of losing their jobs. If I weren't ~5 months pregnant, I'd have tendered my resignation 2 weeks ago and opted for their severance package because I'm just appalled by the unfair working conditions and lack of ethics displayed. And it's painful because the product we build? It's a popular educational product that is life-changing for some people and part of me wants to go around telling people "No, do not use this product, it is produced by a company that does not treat its employees fairly" and the other part of me wants people to keep using it so they'll learn and change their lives. Ugh.

The light of the end of the tunnel: I'm looking forward to resigning after I take maternity leave and am back in a place where I know I'll have 0 trouble quickly finding work with a company that treats its employees well.

This is literally the greatest thing I have ever heard of! Thank you so much!! I'm totally going to use it because people are effing annoying and I can't take it anymore. "What walkins are open right now?" Seriously ducking google it. There is a walkin chart posted as the first thing on google like seriously fuck right off.
I woke up to this question this morning, set me on edge for the entire day
  • @christac1010 omgggg I can't believe they didn't pass that on!
Well okay, that's a lie, when I was pregnant with DD I ran out of amniotic fluid, I had a high risk US done at 37 weeks and some change and basically the results showed I needed to be delivered that day, but because my doctor was out of town until 3 days later (over a holiday weekend no less) the file sat on her desk until the following week. She was furious with the hospital for not passing it on to the on call doctor. Everything turned out okay but it could have been so much worse.
But seriously! The communication between these people needs to be way better!
  • I know it isn't Monday but feel the need to bitch.

my doctors office just called and they scheduled my next ultrasound which is a level 2 anatomy scan for Sept 8th at 20weeks. I ASSUMED it would be sooner and have family and friends coming to town labor day weekend for a gender reveal party.    really trying to get them to do it sooner. And it's making me feel like a horrible person at the moment but it's really important to me and they probably think my reason is ridiculous.

@Knottie25816533 That totally sucks that people are coming in for a gender reveal that may not be happening! But anatomy scans are typically done at 20 weeks? Did you have a reason to assume it would be done sooner?
edited for clarity: I'm sure they probably wouldn't move your scan up for a gender reveal party, but they may move it up if you had another reason for assuming it would be sooner and could use that reasoning.
