Should I worry?

We had a busy busy day. We were getting ready to go away for a week. Baby boy didn't eat a lot.  A few bottles maybe 4 or 5 8 Oz bottles. Some toast this morning and then puffs and rice rusks. He didnt want real food amd wasnt fussing all day. He did have a fever the last few days so he hasnt been eating alot more bottles for sure 6 to 7 a day. And was seeming himself other then not eating a lot today.

I changed his diaper 7:15 pm is was full and wet. He had had three or four other wet diapers today and two poop diapers too. He fell asleep after not napping all day around 8 pm in the car. When we got to our location at 9:30 pm he woke up when we got out of the car. I went to change him but his diaper was dry but I changed him anyway. He wouldn't take a bottle either.

I'm worried there is something wrong with him. Is it just the busy day and travelling? Maybe recovering from having a fever for two days? Any advice would be great because I'm losing my mind thinking something is wrong

Re: Should I worry?

  • Is he teething? My LO runs a fever and doesn't want to eat when she's teething, if it keeps up it wouldn't hurt to get a check up but if he's not running a high fever I'd just watch him

  • I think so. I think some of his back teeth and molars are coming in. No fever today and he was back to his normal self really. I'll keep an eye on him if his diaper isn't wet in the morning I'll get him checked.

  • My kids are always a little off when we travel. They don't eat or sleep like normal. I would keep an eye on it but wouldn't be too worried.
  • Has he had a cold in the last two weeks?  Every time my guy has a fever it has turned out to be an ear infection.  Usually occurs 1-2 weeks after a cold right when it seems like he's starting to get better.
  • No cold. I'm thinking it's just teething. Trying not to worry myself sick.
  • My little man does that sometimes. He had a dry diaper after sleeping all night but was back to normal after his morning bottle. If he isn't soaked in the morning is give pedialyte, that's what I gave him when he wasn't eating while he had a cold.

  • My baby had a high fever, vomiting and then a cold over the past week. He had little to no appetite for three days when he first got sick. The doctor said it was fine that he went a few days without solids because he is at a healthy weight. He said to only worry about dehydration if he went 6-8 hours without a wet diaper. I get the worrying part though. I seriously brought him to the ER at  2 in the morning the other night because I thought he was wheezing and would stop breathing in his sleep. Turns out he was just snoring because he was congested! Oh motherhood!
  • Less than 2 hours without a wet diaper isn't an issue. Teething could definitely explain all of that, including not having interest in solids. And honest 4 or 5 8oz bottles is normal if not a little over what most are getting in formula at 10 or 11 months. Id just keep an eye on him and keep check on his temperature. Like po said, if he goes 8 hours without a wet diaper then definitely make an ER trip since that is a sign of dehydration. But it doesn't sound like that's an kssue.

  • Was worried for nothing. He had a small wet diaper when he first woke up and not even a n hour later had a full wet diaper. And he has eaten an 8 oz bottle. Phew. Thanks for the advice ladies.
  • Agree with @shelbydd about the volume of formula. We are still on just BM and he takes no where near that amount on a normal day. He sounds like a healthy baby!
