35+ Moms?

I am 37 and will be 38 when I deliver. I was 36 when I delivered DD. Who many other moms are in the 35+ club? How are you feeling? I am nervous, nauseous and tired but so grateful.

Re: 35+ Moms?

  • I'm in the same boat, 37 and will be 38 when I deliver! I was 35 when i had my first. I'm feeling as good as expected, hungry, and tired mostly. Nausea hasn't hit (yet), so I'm happily eating until it does.

  • I'll be 39 this Thursday! It's still early on for me so no real symptoms yet. I have been getting very tired in the afternoons. It's like part of my wants symptoms as reassurance everything is going well. The other part of me is hoping for no symptoms, cause my 2.5 yr daughter could care less if Mommy is tired, she wants to play!

I just turned 35 a couple of weeks ago. Feeling okay. Cramping a bit and a bit of m/s on and off.

  • I am 35, 36 at delivery! I'm feeling very similar to my other pregnancies, except I am experiencing some very light spotting as of a few days ago. It's brown and very minimal so I am trying really hard to chalk it up to a totally normal symptom. It's just very unnerving, especially because I never experienced it the other times.

I am very interested to see what, if anything, is different this time around with regard to the doctor since I am now 35. Those of you that were 35 with prior pregnancies - did your doctors tell you they were doing anything differently along the way since you were 35+?

  • I'm 41.  I was 40 when I had my first son.  DH and I are late bloomers so trying hard to build our family quickly.  I will still be 41 when LO arrives.  I had no MS with first one just tired and sore boobs.  This time round is completely different!  Nauseous, exhausted, constipated but no sore boobs

@JAGinMI with my first at 35 my OB recommended the genetic testing and had us see a councilor but not manditorty if we wanted. 35 is my offices age for recommending it. We did it for piece of mind and also we found out babies gender a few weeks earlier because of it which wasn't such a bad thing :)
plus we learned a lot and loved the lady they sent us to. She answered all of our concerns and questions.

  • 35 here. Due date is 2 days after my 36th birthday.
Feeling very sick. I go for my intake appointment Friday. I'm curious to see what they are going to say about testing and whatnot.

  • 39 & LO will be here 3 months before I turn 40. My partner is 40 & will be 41 when I deliver. It's been over 14 years since my DD was born & it's a totally different experience! Nausea, sore boobs, occasional pain but it's probably muscle pain (I have sciatica) since it's more in the groin area.

  • 37 now and will still be 37 when I deliver. My husband is ten years older than me. I had my first at 33. I'm feeling good - I think partially because I'm off work for the summer so I can relax during the day while my son is at camp.

  • I turned 35 in June, so I'll still be 35 when I deliver. I have my first appt tomorrow and am also wondering how it'll go. I was 32 when I had my first. I made the mistake of googling having a baby at 35+ and holy shitballs did I scare myself!
  • I'm 39 now and will turn 40 on my EDD. Every day I'm pregnant is a good day!

I'm having to try to stay off of Google & other sites. I'm scaring the hell out of myself over every symptom & I'm sure peanut is in there laughing & thinking "Oh mom!"

  • I am 35 and will be 36 when LO arrives. I was 34 when my DD was born (we are really busting on this family thing) and because I had not hit that magic 35 years of age I missed out on some of the higher-risk warnings due to age. This time around when my dr.'s office emailed me about my first prenatal the message indicated that due to my "advanced maternal age" I should consider additional tests and consultation. LOL - Nothing like a message to make you feel old! I am going shopping for some pregnancy safe face cream now.

I just had an impromptu appointment with my doctor and he told me that for 35+ they recommend the NT scan and quad screen and then send you to a MFM doctor for the a/s. There's additional testing available depending on the findings.

I will be 36 this week. Had DD when I was 33.
  • I am 38 and I ll be 39 when I ll deliver.  It's my first one, second attempt.  So I am quite nervous.  I don't have many symptoms except occasional nausea, high sensitivity to perfume and mood swings.  But no sore breasts like I had last time...
  • I'm 37 and will be 38 when I deliver if this bean sticks around. I had a blighted ovum MMC with our first pregnancy in December. Nervously awaiting the first ultrasound next week. The anxiety is by far my worst symptom. Grateful to have you ladies here with me.
  • I'll be 35 in a few weeks.  I had just turned 33 when DS was born.  I've had some cramping and am SOOOO tired, but nothing too terrible.  My first u/s in August 5th and I can't wait!!
  • @marion0209 fingers crossed for a sticky bean!!

I understand. We had a MC 12/1/15 at 10 weeks. I can't wait to see this new bean next week either!! Good luck!

I was just poking around on my healthcare system's portal and found my diagnosis of "high risk elderly multigravida". Um, thanks for that.

@MrsBinPA "Advanced maternal age" is definitely preferable to "elderly multigravida" -- although that term is kind of funny.

  • I am 37 and will be 38 when I deliver.  My others I had at 29, 31, and 34.  I had a miscarriage 3 months ago so I am nervous but this feels more like any of my other pregnancies so that eases my fears.  When I went to the dr. for my last pregnancy, they definitely referred to me as elderly!  I told them that wasn't nice and I prefer AMA!!  Feel very blessed to be doing this one more time!!

  • I was 40 with first.  My age was the only thing that made me high risk.  I had some extra testing blood and saliva test...can't recall the names of test but that was it. Everything returned normal from tests so doctors didn't treat me any different until 3rd tri when I had a nonstress test and US every week until I delivered.  I didn't mind...got to see baby each week and hear heartbeat each week. The nonstress test was monitoring the baby's movement so I had to be hooked up and they tracked heartbeat while he moved.  It wasn't scary because doctors reassured me the only reason for doing extra test was my age and that baby and I were healthy. I also got a few extra US in the 1st and 2nd tri that most others don't get. Again I welcomed them as I got to see baby!  So unless there is some other issue going on it shouldn't be a bad experience just horrible labels for us mature moms
  • Hello! I'll be 35 at my due date.... My DD is 5 and it seems like a lifetime ago that I was pregnant with her! I suffered a miscarriage in January which is making me even more anxious with this time around along with being of "advanced maternal age" lol.

I'm 37 and will be 38 at delivery.  I'm nervous but hopeful and I too have been spotting off and on.  But that is actually normal for me.  I've had a bit of brown and mainly pink.  Praying we're all be blessed with healthy babies in 8 months or so.
  • I'm 36, and will be 37 when I deliver, DH is 40, in addition to our infertility plans, etc, I feel like age really played a part this cycle, it took so much more to get me to develop follicles than when I cycled for my DD, my doses kept getting doubled, then tripled, but finally it worked, and miraculously we are having twins....due to my age and infertility it's like a double whammy of worry, will both babies stick, etc, I feel like I can't relax yet
