Best Tips for TTC?

Besides trying during the most fertile period, does anyone have any other tried and true tips for TTC? I'm 33 and in my first cycle of trying with my husband. Thanks in advance. :)

  • Lots of ladies around here will point  you toward a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and tracking using an app called Fertility Friend.

However, as far as my OB says, "don't temp, don't use OPKs. Don't drive yourself crazy. Days 10-18 of your cycle, have sex every other day for at least 6 months, and talk to me if it hasn't happened by then!"
  • Thanks, ShadeofGreen, that is incredibly helpful advice. :D
  • Glad I could help  ;)
  • I mostly agree with @ShadeofGreen816 except for the days 10-18 part. It will be helpful to roughly know your cycle. I have a 33-35 day cycle and i have a shortish luteal phase of 11 days. I dont ovulate till CD 21 or 22, if i stopped at day 18 i would likely never get pregnant. I do agree with the relaxed mentality though. If your cycle is 28-30 days i would just have sex EOD from 10-18 but if its longer like 32-35 days i would do it EOD from days 14-22. I totally agree that if you have no reason to suspect infertitly then a more relaxed approach is definitely the way to start, but knowing at least the basics of your cycle will ensure that you are actually having sex at the right time.
  • @mollbar - I'm a bit late, but definitely don't wait for days "10-18" to HIO EOD. I usually have ovulated by/on CD 10, so if I waited for then, I would be in my TWW already.

If you don't want to use any TTC tools (OPKs, BBT, CM, etc.), then I would suggest just HIO EOD each cycle. It gives you the best odds, regardless of when you actually ovulate.
