I just had to sit in my shower hugging my knees and rocking to cleanse myself from this thread. If you are voting for Trump, shame on you.
Really, I respect your right to chose whomever to vote for, but please really think about the repercussions of someone who thinks that banning a religious group could have. Just because it's not your religion now, doesn't mean it won't be in the future. Trump is in no way a Christian, and will halt all acts of whatever he think will win the conservative vote if he gets elected. There are so many things that just don't add up when it comes to him. And before you jump to that I'm just a Hillary supporter, I'm not. Also, Gary Johnson is another choice (though I don't know anything about him other than he's not a Clinton or Trump).

I don't trust Trump, at all, but all the other candidates who have a chance of winning - including Gary Johnson - are pro choice and are actively committed to expanding abortion services. As a person who is adamantly prolife and views abortion as just as much murder as that of a fully developed person, I cannot in good conscience vote for a person who is openly committed to defending it. I have serious doubts about Trump being prolife, too, but at least with him there's a chance. I detest his foreign policy, but I have full confidence in Congress' ability to block his plans for that. I don't have confidence in their ability to protect the unborn, especially given that abortion is already legal. I'm well aware that my opinion is unpopular and that many feel that I should be ashamed for it, but I stand by it and I feel no shame for standing up against what I believe to be one of the greatest evils of our time.

She was the first to post, however she then had someone say they were appalled by her support of Trump. So she said she was appalled by someone supporting Hillary. I didn't see you rail on cjs260 for saying "Shame on you" to anyone voting for Trump? So is it just because she posted first?
And her original post in no way whatsoever was inflammatory or inciting an argument. It was a statement about her excitement. So I guess I was just thrown by the the ire in your post.
I do agree, sometimes certain subjects are kinda taboo but as a few of you ladies have mentioned before, you can't control how another person on the internet responds.

I absolutely do!! I think providing both pre natal and post natal assistance to those who need it is essential. I also am very much in favor of comprehensive sex ed classes in high schools - best way to prevent abortions is to prevent unwanted pregnancies!

I think you should be allowed to shut that down purely on the basis that a mini-mosh pit in your uterus sounds massively unpleasant, and two kiddos head banging would just be more than I could bear.
If he is unwavering in this stance, I recommend the kind of music play systems that just have speakers wrapped around the belly, so at least you don't have to listen to it. Though that is kinda throwing your unborn children under the bus...
I think that avoiding politics, religion, and divisive social issues (abortion, capital punishment, the Kardashians, etc) as topics is probably a good idea. I also think it is important to remember that we are a diverse group of women with different beliefs, so saying "all Christians are.." or "all liberals are..." and so on can really hurt peoples feelings and cause strife when it is not necessarily meant to do so.
@TinaBecher I'm kind of with @poetryandoceans! I feel like two babies bouncing around to death metal is enough to cause preterm labor (totally tell your husband that and save yourself!)
I've always seen the point of all these threads (the Bitchfest Mondays, UO Thursdays, FFFC, whathaveyou) as ways of fostering connection and community. So yes, while things are often posted that go beyond bump-related talk, they're always posted with the purpose of creating conversation and getting to know each other, with a view towards creating a supportive environment. So I totally agree that the politics talk, especially during such a volatile time, both with the US election and the world situation right now, is taking away from that main purpose...
And, as one of the lone Canadians on this board, can I offer everyone some poutine and hope we can all just get along, eh? Sorry for the inconvenience. Sorry.

Little backstory: today was a day of hours of vomiting and diarrhea. Woohoo. As a result, I ended up with a pseudo headache that can only be described in one way: in feels like my brain is full of bile. It's not. It's just uncomfortable.
So, H comes home (I work from home, but ended having to take most of the day off.) and was wonderful and comforting and all that jazz. But then, right as I'm starting to fall sleep, he goes out to the garage and starts using a POWER SANDER to sand fiberglass. And the sound is EVERYWHERE. I feel badly and don't want to ask him to stop, because he's working on something for me. But... my wrecked body, bile brain, and baby would really like to take a nap!
In the meantime, I shall think about poutine and hope that the beauty that is French fries with gravy and cheese is enough to lull me to sleep...

I just spent the last 10 minutes reading the F17 FFFC because I was curious how they had over 120 posts. Holy moly they are a feisty bunch! They make our disagreements look like child's play. I don't know if it's always like that over there, but reading through that made me want to tell you all how much I like our board. You're a great group of women and I'm glad our due dates happen to fall in the same month so I can be in on J17's fun and mild drama.
My non-political FFFC: I have cut myself off from my in-laws. Some of you may remember that we had some drama a few weeks ago; well, it's reached a boiling point and I am DONE. I have informed DH that I am not going to cut them off from DD or LO; I'm continuing to send them daily videos on Snapchat of DD and will keep them updated on LO's progress, and I will be pleasant and super polite when I see them, but I'm no longer holding myself responsible for making sure that they get to see us. Visits with them are DH's responsibility now and I will not be stopping by anymore when I go to visit my family on my own. He is not crazy about the idea because he wants us all to get along (aka pretend everything's good when it's not), but I'm sick of being walked all over by them and constantly being painted as the bad guy. So now, I'm letting DH handle the crazies and accepting my status as Worst Daughter in Law.
@colleenkevin I've noticed they get quite fiesty over there, especially on the UO and FFFC threads. I'm a major lurker since I'll probably have a February baby but I'm just not fiesty enough to fit in over there.

So my FFFC is as follows: MIL asked to come with me to my next u/s and I said no. I actually have a good reason. DH and I will be finding out the sex and we're doing a reveal for our parents. But also, I just don't really want her to come with me to u/s. I've tried explaining this to DH but I always feel bad because I don't want to hurt her feelings. Today, however, aside from warning DH that I may have accidentally hurt him mom's feelings, I decided that I have nothing to feel guilty about. DH actually agrees with me and told me to not worry about making sure she's invited to at least one u/s. Sorry not sorry. The only person I want there is DH. If he's not available, then my mom. But only if he absolutely can't make it.
