Diclegis?

i just started diclegis (taken two doses now), but how do you function with the drowsiness? Does it get better? I'm seriously OUT and having a really tough time waking up. Since I have an almost two year old, sleeping all day isn't really an option. Also how long did it take to be effective? It hasn't helped yet.

Oh no! Wish I had some good advice for you about the drowsiness. It kicked in within 24 hours for me in terms of helping the MS, but I didn't experience any side effects (when I took it with DD). If it doesn't help soon I would give your doctor a call and consult with them about potential other options.

  • I just picked up a bottle from my ob this afternoon, will take my first dose tonight! I hope it doesn't totally knock me out, but I'm not usually super sensitive to medication so I'm not too worried.

  • It knocked me out for about 3 days, then it became a godsend! Hoping you start feeling better soon.
  • Just checking in - took diclegis last night for the first time. I worked late, until 10pm and made the mistake of not eating dinner. Took diclegis and basically passed out, woke up to my daughter this morning barely able to open my eyelids, and then threw up for awhile. I'm not sure its the lack of food that made me sick, or that diclegis just makes me sleepy and doesn't help my nausea.

Not sure if I want to use it again tonight, I have a really early flight in the morning. Might just take zofran in the morning to make sure I don't throw up on the plane.

  • What are you ladies finding that works timing wise. The midwife told me one in the morning, one at night, and up either or both of those times to two bills if I think I need it. I'm thinking 9 and 9 for times but wanted to see what everyone else has success with.

  • I tried having it the past couple of days, (one pill sat. morning, 2 pills last night) but threw it up both times so apparently I need to plan my timing better. I've had to resort to zofran a couple of times even though I would rather refrain from that for now, it's really the only thing that keeps me from throwing up.

  • My doctor just prescribed me some at my request...between my brother's graduation with his Master's degree on Saturday and flying to Colorado in a few weeks, I'd rather not be sick...hoping it doesn't knock me out...guess I need to take it early tonight

  • I really hope my body gets used to the antihistamine portion of it quickly because I am extra exhausted.
  • I had to stop taking it because I was continuing to get sick and the drowsiness was not getting better, so it wasn't worth the battle to stay awake anymore. I have another call into the dr now.  The sickness is getting worse significantly, I have yet to keep any food down today.
  • @rebennett06 I'm so far not a fan of it either, makes me tired and doesn't stop me from throwing up. I've been taking half a pill of zofran daily and that's the only thing that allows me to keep food down. Was hoping to avoid taking it if possible, but it doesn't look like I can avoid it.
