PCOS without the cysts??

Hi all,

Is it possible to have PCOS without cysts? My ultrasound showed 'no evidence of PCOS' - but why are my cycles so irregular?  After a visit with my gynecologist, he barely let me get a word in to ask this question.. seems like the doctors are always in a hurry.   My cycles vary between 30 - 55 days (however, last 3 cycles were 35 days or so.. seems like they are getting shorter with my healthy lifestyle change). They never cause me any pain.. I feel guilty telling some women that I rarely get cramps! Anyways, I don't know why else my cycles would be all wacky and why i'm not ovulating..  too much cortisol?? lol I do have a low anxiety threshold....

There are a few diagnostic criteria for PCOS. 1. Polycystic ovaries 2. Too much male hormone (signs would be hirsutism/hairiness or male pattern baldness) 3.  Irregular cycles. You need to have 2 of the 3 to have PCOS. If you haven't had bloodwork done, I would ask your OB to run those. If you feel like your OB doesn't listen, I highly recommend getting a new OB. If they don't listen or give you time now, are you comfortable with the same treatment when you are pregnant?

i was told the same thing as megzb510.... my ultrasounds did not show signs of cysts but I do have the two other symptoms ..and the new RE said two out of three would be enough to diagnose as PCOS

I have no cysts but signs of high testosterone and absent periods.  Ask for a full hormone panel.
