TTC after 35

Intro- TTC #1 at 35

Hi. I'm new to TTC and thebump community. I just got married last month and my husband is 44, so we've decided to get down to business. If I could wait longer I would, because I do cherish our current lifestyle and newlywed bliss. But I know this could take years and I REALLY want to have a baby, so here I am. I've been tracking my cycle for a few years via an app and haven't been on BC. I plan to start temping and charting after my next cycle. My period is actually a little late-- I'm on day 37 and usually have 32-36 day cycles. It feels too early to take a HPT though. This all feels like TMI... but I guess we are here to share, right?

Re: Intro- TTC #1 at 35

  • Welcome and congrats on your marriage!  I'm pretty new here myself - also just got married last month (but I'm going to be 39 in October and DH is 41...), but had not been as on it as you have (also I've only known DH for a year and a half so didn't really have a good baby daddy prospect before then!) - just started tracking when I went off of BC in February, just started temping about a week ago, and I'm expecting my first package of Wondfos OPKs to arrive today!

There doesn't seem to be a ton of activity in the 35+ section (apparently I missed something?), but I hope your stay here is a short one!

  • Thanks for introducing yourself, artemis618. I'm OK with a less active board...  the all ages TTC is a little overwhelming to me. :) Good luck with your OPKs.

  • I'm new here too.  I am 36 and ttc.  I have read horror stories about it taking years so we started early.  My husband is 33.  I can't believe I will be in the higher risk pregnancy bracket if I do get pregnant.  I haven't been tracking yet.  Good luck!
  • Welcome! I'm also 36 (SO is 33) and TTC#1. We've been trying since November of last year. I honestly didn't think it would take this long as I have many friends my age who only took 1-3mos. So don't fret, not everyone takes years at our "advanced" age :) hopefully your stay here is short

Welcome to the board and congrats on recent wedding! :)

I just have to comment: I have so many friends in their mid/late-30's (and 3 in early 40's) who have gotten pg no problem, but my 2 friends who had the most problems actually started in their late-20's and didn't get pg until mid-30's (with some help from science). Sometimes it feels like the internet does more harm than good regarding scaring women 35+ TTC.

Vent complete, feels good to get that out!~ lol

  • Welcome! Congratulations on your wedding! I am pretty new to this board too and am going to be trying out an opk this month. I don't know anything about using it or about temping and charting yet so I have a lot to learn. It sounds like you already have a good plan to get started! Wishing you the best of luck!

  • Welcome and congrats on your marriage!  Good luck with TTC!

@Lu19 - I have encountered so many women who started TTC after 35...seems like there are so many these days...and none of them have had any issues other than just being scared because they were considered high risk.
