Sleeping babies...

How are your LOs sleeping? Mine was addicted to nursing to sleep, we kind of broke him of that but now he only wants to sleep on or next to us... Hasn't slept through the night since five months. We want him in his crib alone sleeping through the night with one wake up max!

Re: Sleeping babies...

  • We co-sleep and he sleeps all night. If he is in his crib he may wake up 3-4 times/night.

  • We have been so blessed.  LO started sleeping about 6 to 8 hours straight when he was 2.5 months old.  Now, he sleeps about 10 to 12 hours a night.   He will complain if he wants his pacifier (we just pop it back in and he's back to sleep).  Recently, we have been having some issues with nap time though.  He will fight naps until he finally cannot stay awake and gives in.  By that point, he's crying, screaming, over tired, and cranky.
We just moved him to his room about 4 weeks ago.  He's been doing fine.
LO is now taking 2 naps a day.  How many naps is your baby taking?
  • My LO has never slept through the night. She would only ever sleep if she was touching someone or being held and every nap and bedtime was a battle of wills until about a month ago. I finally broke down and did a modified version of the Ferber method and she now sleeps in her crib. She still wakes up twice a night, but who cares?! FREEDOM! Wahoooo!
  • LO is sleeping in his crib and waking once a night. He usually sleeps from 7-6:30 with a feeding around 3 am. If he does sleep through the night he is up for the day around 5:30. He is taking two 1.5 hr naps at 9 am and 1 pm.

My LO sleeps all night thanks to the Ferber method. It was tough the first few days but now she sleeps from 8 or 9pm to 7 or 8am...and all I have to do is put her into bed, kiss her goodnight, and leave the room.
  • Bridget has 2 wake ups a night.  The 11pm wake up she's happy with just a pacifier.  At the 3/4am wake up she has a bottle.  I've been cutting back on the amount I give her in that bottle and am hoping that I can cut out the pacifier wake up and eventually the 3/4am wake up.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

  • DD goes down at 7pm and sleeps until around 4am most nights.  She gets a bottle and goes back down until around 6/7.
  • DD goes down at 7, eats at 11 and 3, up for the day at 6.  Lately there's been an extra wake up or 2 just to fuss; she just sprouted her first tooth.  I'm waiting to start serious night weaning until she's taking in a more substantial amount of solids (still can only get a few spoonfuls in her a day).

Naps are on our bed, I cuddle her till she's asleep then roll out.  We're going to transition to naps in the crib soon since she's making like she's gonna crawl soon.

  • Oh gosh I likely have the worst sleeper. She goes to bed around 7 and then between 7-11 I have to go up a few times and put the soother in and tap her bum. Then she usually eats around 1 and 4 up at 7 for the day. Throughout the night she likely wakes a few time also but we cosleep so it's just a bum tap or soother and she's back down. I've screwed up royally with all the sleep associations she has :(. I can't do CIO so I'll just have to live with my screw up until she out grows it. Tear... Enjoy your happy sleepers and know I'm jealous!

Aw.  If it helps you feel any better, my nephew was a terrible sleeper till 14 months, when SIL finally did some sleep training (I want to say the shuffle?  She just sat in the room while he wailed) and it only took a week, now he's a fantastic sleeper.  Even snoozes right through his baby brother's nighttime shenanigans!
  • DD was recently still waking 4-6x a night. We started pickup/put down method about 1.5wks ago. DD now puts herself to sleep in her crib at night and wakes 2x a night. Over time we will work to cut out one night feeding but right now this is a huge improvement.

Naps are another story and something we need to really work on once the night sleep is consistent (2-3wks). She will only nap for 1/2hr if she is put down, and more than half the time when she's put down she immediately wakes up. If you hold her she'll nap for 1-1.5hrs, so definitely an issue.
