My baby's irregular heart

This is a picture of my baby boys heart. 
It is missing one chamber and there is a lot of extra space in there.
The doctors are requesting the baby has heart surgery asap after birth.
I am going in for an echo to look deeper into it

If any of you other moms out there had the same experience please share with me I am super worried!

I don't have any experience or advice to offer but I pray that all goes well for you and your LO.

I can understand. One of my twins (the girl) has some abnormalities with her heart. We won't know the extent until we meet with the MFM on Wednesday, but my regular OB was already talking about delivering at a hospital with pediatric cardio surgeons...so I'm pretty sure he thinks it's serious. It looked to me like not all 4 chambers were present (I'm obviously not a Dr, but I had seen what my sons healthy heart looked like about 5 minutes before...so there were clear differences to me), so we are ready to have a firm diagnosis. Did they give you a diagnosis? It's so scary, I'm sorry that you are going through this as well. Keep in touch!

It's all so scary no diagnosis yet I have an appointment this Thursday and next Wednesday and will update

While I don't have personal experience with a child with a congenital heart defect I have worked in a pediatric intensive care unit for the last 7 years where we care for Children of all ages after cardiac surgery, including newborns. Once you have a more specific diagnosis on the type of defect I would be happy to provide you with information as to what to expect before and after surgery if you and your doctor decide that is the best option for you. My thoughts are with you as I know this is very stressful!!

@nowakjamie6 Just wanted to check in. Did you get a diagnosis? We officially got ours yesterday. Baby girl has hypoplastic left heart syndrome...so she will be having surgery very soon after birth as well. I know having some form of info and a plan brought me some comfort...I hope you are experiencing the same.
