Eczema help!

I'm desperate. I need advice from anyone who has experienced eczema. LO has had it on his face on and off since birth, nowadays it's all. the. time. It's killing me. We've been to a pediatric dermatologist twice and have tried desonide cream and elidel cream. We get a little relief with the desonide. I can't take anymore comments about his face. My poor little guy, he needs relief and just don't know what else to do. He got an oatmeal bath last night that helped for a little bit and coconut oil makes it worse. Any ideas? Please!

My DS had eczema on his face until I cut out dairy from my diet. It took a few weeks but the eczema (and green poop/gas) went away. I am still dairy free as DS is still BFing, and we haven't added dairy into his solid food diet yet.

That's the only experience I have with eczema. I hope you and he find some relief soon!

Have you completely cut the coconut oil out yet? Food allergies can take a surprisingly long time to work their way out of their tiny systems. Like 10 days to a couple of weeks depending on the allergy. We didn't have eczema and didn't hammer out her allergy (Dr is still most convinced for dairy) but about 2 weeks after starting the hypoallergenic formula she was completely better. 

I don't have any other advice. I just know I was surprised when the Dr told me how long it would take her to work out an allergen so I thought I'd pass it along in case you didn't either. Hope you can figure something out soon! The comments have to be frustrating.

I also didn't have much luck with coconut oil and 1% hydrocortisone ointment stopped working after a while. So far we've had luck with Triamcinolone ointment (prescription), CeraVe moisturizing lotion all over after baths and CeraVe healing ointment to cheeks throughout the day. CeraVe products can be found at Target (and I'm sure other places as well but that's where I got mine).

We did also cut out dairy and put her on a formula for food allergic babies. Now that her eczema is finally mostly under control I am slowly trying to add regular formula in, but I've already noticed her eczema starting up again. 

Good luck! I know how hard it is to have such a beautiful baby but all anyone can see or talk about is the horrible looking red patches!

Thank you! We just started a new formula that is free of coconut oil and also just discovered an ingredient in his body wash could be derived from coconut oil. We have been using cereve cream, but didn't know there is an ointment, I'll look for that. We've also switched to cetaphil for body wash. Just bought an ac unit for his room, thinking that the heat and humidity was aggravating things. We did try cutting dairy and have had LO tested for dairy and soy allergies. We have another dermatology appointment in 2 weeks...

Both my kids had it. To keep it under control, Eucerin Original cream, the one in the tub that has more of a lard like consistency. Helps seal in moisture. If it's really red or has pustules, Aveeno 1% hydrocortisone cream. Just a tiny bit. 

I use the Eucerin baby wash as well. For my kids, their triggers were fragrances in shampoos and detergent, even in diapers. For detergent, I started using arm and hammer sensitive skin with no fragrance.
