Rants/Raves/Questions? Feeling pretty good pregnancy wise.

Our nursery is almost complete. And our basement is being remodeled and is almost ready for paint and new carpeting. 

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Still craving bagels with cream cheese and my love for cheeseburgers is not as bad it was. Chicken is still iffy. 

GTKY: How did you meet your S/O? We actually graduated from high school together but didn't really talk much or run with the same crowds. We ended up together 10 yrs later thru a mutual friend. Funny how things work out.

Upcoming appointments? GTT aka the dreaded 3 hour this Friday, Anesthesia interview at the hospital Monday 7/25 and regular OB next Wednesday 7/27.  Whew that's a lot! 

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rave for officially being in the third trimester in everyone's book! Also going to this anesthesia appointment Monday is going to make things feel very real and I will probably have more questions then.  Our hospital doesn't allow you to get an epidural without this appointment. We went over the epidural basics at birth class last week but the anesthesiologist will go into more detail. 

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Heartburn has returned and gas pains and/or growing pains. Also peeing every 5 seconds I feel like. 

GTKY: How did you meet your S/O? We met in high school when he was a lifeguard at my pool. We didn't like each other very much then but hung out with the same crowd. We started talking on AOL messenger in college (hey, it was cool back then), and I invited him to a sorority event when I broke up with my ex. It's all history after that!

Upcoming appointments? my apt from july 4, that got bumped to july 11 is SUPPOSED to happen tomorrow. We'll see.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Baby is getting more and more active most days which is fun!

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Heartburn. Miserable awful heartburn. I've never really been a sweets person but I crave just a small something sweet after meals.

GTKY: How did you meet your S/O? The short version is I work with four of his relatives. Haha.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Nesting is coming in waves, which hit yesterday as I started tiding things (even washed all my towels and reorganized even though hubby and I use the same 4 over and over).  It sucked knowing I had to work today because there are other things I want to start doing.

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Green peppers seem to make me gag but last night I had McD's and was so excited, until hubby started farting and I started gagging - yea I ended up being sick which was not fun!  No more McD for awhile

GTKY: How did you meet SO? We met off of eHarmony.  I saw his profile and messaged him, then immediately called my mother and said he was the one.  She started asking questions about him which all I could answer was "I don't know" because he hadn't responded yet.  She asked how I knew then if he hadn't even responded and I just said I knew.  Funny thing is he wasn't responding to many messages, but when he saw mine he said something told him to not let this one go, and a few days later we met, moved in together 7 weeks after that, and here we are 5 and a half years later.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Everyone at work had to comment on how big I look. Jerks. I should have commented on how big they all look. Sure I haven't seen them in a few weeks and I was wearing a tight maternity t shirt instead of a loose t shirt, but still. 

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I've been feeling a lot of pressure today hopefully it's just from working this past weekend. I'm going to try to rest today, so maybe that will help. Now I just have to convince my toddler that I need to rest. 

GTKY: How did you meet your S/O? He worked at a bbq restaurant with my BFF. We went in to get her check one day before a kickball game and he was just getting out of work and wanted to come with. I must have impressed him with my mad skillz

@ibabyloveb87 ... what the hell is an anesthesia interview? Am I supposed to be interviewing anesthesiologists to insert my epidural? Also... good luck on the 3hr test!!! Keep us posted on how things go!

Upcoming appointments? nothing for a few weeks

Rants/Raves/Questions? I posted this on the Monday Bitchfest, but my MIL bought a car seat off of eBay for her and FIL to use. I have tasked DH with talking her to ask her to talk to us before buying anymore things like that. She means well, but I just don't feel 100% comfortable with this car seat. The seller says it's new, but do we really trust this internet stranger? I really would have just preferred to vet this purchase before she actually made it vs her going over my head and me having to come in on the back end and either keep my mouth shut while feeling uncomfortable about it or be the bad guy and burst her "I got a good deal" bubble. SO ANNOYED now that I'm typing it all out again lol. grrrr

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? had some growing pains last week but I think they're worse when I'm not drinking enough water so I'm trying to improve on that.

GTKY: How did you meet your S/O? I met DH when I was 16. It was my first job as a cashier at a grocery store. I had the biggest crush on him off and on through HS and some of college. Then, we were finally both single at the same time and started hanging out more... and that was all she wrote. We were inseparable since then. I followed him to a new city after college where he now works for the corporate office of that grocery store we met at so many years ago and we married a few years after that

@bnsmith85 I would be upset about the car seat thing too. We ordered one infant seat and two bases for my fiancé and I. I told his parents to just get an extra base as well and that the seat will just always stay with the baby.

Rants/Raves/Questions? For some reason it's not clicking in my head that there isn't a lot of time left. We can't start moving into the new house until September 1 and we need some work to be done right away so we are just slowly moving in over the month, but then I looked at my calendar and was realized that we better hit the ground running otherwise there will be nothing done! Also this little girl still doesn't have a name! We have so many other things to do that we never even get to talk about it. We don't even have a top 5...

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Still no meat (except tuna fish which I can only have once a week). Idk what it is about being pregnant with my girls, but they basically turn me into a vegetarian. 

GTKY: How did you meet your S/O? We met as freshman in college. I had just broken up with my 'all through high school' boyfriend and I didn't feel like dealing with my normal circle and all of their questions so I started hanging out with some on campus acquaintances and he just happened to be among them. Started dating a week after we met and never looked back!! 11 years later, I think people have come to terms with him not being a 'rebound' hahaha

@bnsmith85 It's just a meeting with one of the 3 anesthesiologists at our hospital and we go over all the details of an epidural and I get to watch a super awesome video about it apparently. Our OB makes it very well known that you HAVE to have this meeting if you want/think you might want an epidural. I don't know if it's required everywhere, but I called the hospital to set it up. If you're not sure, just give them a call and they can probably tell you!

What size is baby? Bunch of bananas - or a big bottle of Sriracha sauce. (you guys, remember when they were poppy seeds and orange seeds??)

Upcoming appointments? Growth scan tomorrow at MFM.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I can't believe it, but I'm still feeling really good!  The occasional swelling in my ankles, and I've switched from my real wedding rings to my much larger fake wedding rings, but otherwise, not doing too bad.  Waiting for the other shoe to drop...

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I want allll my drinks frozen.  I can't get enough of slushies/slurpees/sno-cones, even crunching ice.

GTKY: How did you meet your S/O? This one night, at a bar in Philly....   I had traveled about an hour and a half to visit some girlfriends for a night out, he was in the city for the night (he lived over the bridge in South Jersey). We started chatting, did a little dancing, mayyyybe a little smooching, then just couldn't call it a night, so we went for something to eat.  A turbulent cab ride, some throwing up in a bush (him, not me!), and a little stroll on the sidewalk later,  we exchanged numbers and dated long distance for almost a year before I found a job in Philly and I followed him to South Jersey.  Now, just a short 6 years later, we'll be welcoming our first little one!

My Gestational Diabetes morning fasting number is getting higher and since that's hormone based and not by diet, medicine my be my only choice and I'm bummed! I've been doing so well with the diet part of it and I was just hoping I could avoid meds.

I'm not really hungry so I need to force myself to eat. Shouldn't it be the other way around? LOL

GTKY: How did you meet your S/O?
Blind date! At the last minute! I was supposed to go on a date with his friends cousin but he bailed last minute so my husband went. We hit it off the first night and the rest is history! We just celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary and our 10 year dating anniversary the following week!

Upcoming appointments? Midwife appointment tomorrow then we move from monthly to every 2-3 weeks.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm so worried about my BH and not knowing when labor starts. I had back labor with DS and was induced so I knew exactly what my contractions were and didn't have to worry about them. I have no idea what having them in my front feels like, or what having water break, or pushing etc is like. I'm feeling like a FTM over here, except I have a toddler.

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I am so freaking thirsty, all I'm craving is liquids.

GTKY: How did you meet your S/O? The internet. I was reading something I stumbled upon that he wrote and looked him up. Turns out he lived a little over an hour from me so I sent him a message and we chatted for a week or two and went on a date. 363 days after that date, we got married.

Waiting on glucose test and 28 week appt now. Just drank fruit punch drink and actually liked it.  Now waiting for the next hour.  Should get results on Thursday.  
Rants/Raves/Questions?
Just having a lot of trouble balancing work right now.  My grandmother is very sick.    turned off machines yesterday so I'm heartbroken.  I also have a dr and dentist appointment this week.  I had to miss work yesterday to drive to WV to say goodbye and now I'm missing for dr/dentist appointment today.  Unless there is a miracle, I'll be missing more toward the end of the week to attend services,  so I feel like my job will get frustrated with all of my time off.  I know my family and my baby come first but it gets overwhelming at times.   
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions?
I'm hungry and tired all the time.   My weight gain was really high at this appointment, so I'm a little concerned. I spent 8 hours in a car yesterday eating fast food and salty snacks, so Im hoping that it's just water retention and will normalize.  
GTKY: How did you meet your S/O?  We met in high school.  He had saw a picture of me from a slumber party and asked my friend about me.  The rest in history.   We are 32 and have been together since we were 14, married since 21.

So sorry about your grandmother. I know it's overwhelming but if your work isn't understanding about these extenuating circumstances, it's probably not a very good place of employment because your boss isn't exactly stellar. You need the time off for valid reasons because, like you said, yourself and your family come first. Hang in there and I'll be thinking about you and your family

Thank you @bnsmith85.  They have been really great so far with the pregnancy so I'm sure it's all in my mind.  We are really short staffed now because we are transitioning my team to another office and not replacing two people that quit recently due to the transition.  Now is a time I really should be stepping up but I have too much going on to do it.    I might not know my new team before maternity leave so I'm afraid if I don't perform there won't be a place for me when I come back (even though my boss has reassured me 100x that there will be)

@MKJeffrey2002 So sorry to hear about your grandmother. And your stress at work sounds extremely frustrating... And, of course all your feelings are amplified because you're pregnant!  At the end of the day, do what's right for you and baby and it will somehow work out.  Thoughts with you as you get through this with your grandmother.

UGH. SERIOUSLY. This is my WTF Africa post. Haha. Because 1. they still ran the clinic and THE DR NEVER SHOWED UP.  Which means I had my blood work done and an ultrasound and paid for my apt and sat around for hours. Also why is it that at 28 weeks they still aren't sure if it's a boy or a girl?! Not to mention the power went out halfway through my ultrasound so the guy just decided he had seen enough instead of waiting for the generator to kick on. 
Anyway. I'm pretty pissed and trying to figure out a new plan...

@kmolleltz seriously WTF. My DH is in Africa all the time with work and he was told visiting the local hospital is often worse than waiting to get treatment in Germany (if he were to have malaria, for example). Do you have a city hospital nearby? Maybe it'd be worth going to at least get one high-quality appointment so you could have all of your questions answered.

Thanks ladies for all the kind words about my grandma. @kmolleltz I couldn't imagine the frustration you are going through.  I'll have to think about your situation the next time I get testy because a dr is running 30-45 minutes behind on appointments and appreciate that at least I get seen eventually.   I couldn't imagine having the excitement of checking on things at an appointment only to have that happen.   That's crazy that you have to deal with all that.

Had my 29 week appointment and anatomy scan yesterday.  Got a prescription for a glucometer and checked my blood sugar for the first time since I was diagnosed with GD 4 weeks ago.  My numbers were better, 112 fasting and 120 2 hours post meal.  I'm finally feeling better about the GD.

@books&icecream I would NEVER go get treated at local government hospital. It's a disaster. I've decided I will probably just go to the maternity clinic at the private (lutheran) hospital that has a few American Drs and in general is quite modern. It's where I planned to deliver anyway but it's just on the opposite side of town. It's the hospital the Dr I have been using is regularly scheduled at. But they don't really do appointments everything is clinic set up so you show up and get a number and then sit around for hours. Normal to expect if you arrive at 9am you won't leave til maybe 3 or 4 pm.


And thanks all for your sympathies. I just really needed to vent yesterday.
