Hello ladies! We made it through another week. How is everyone holding up? Anything new to report? How often are you seeing your ob/midwife now?

Everything has been quiet over here. I have had Braxton hicks contractions a few times a day, but they're very spread out. I'm seeing my ob once a week and alternating between a cervical length ultrasound and an ffn test each week. I like going once a week because it's the only time I get to leave the house!

  • I am still on bed rest- hoping to maybe go back to work after the 26th... This mama needs to get paid.

I see my OB once a month right now- I am 24 weeks tomorrow. If I don't feel movement or have any type of bleeding she wants me to come in. But otherwise it's still once a month and an ultrasound to check growth once a month.

we have to travel a bit to get into the city so I'm okay with this schedule right now. I'm also finding myself to be exhausted if I do something- like go to a doctors appointment. I'm on week 4 of bedrest and I feel like my body is just falling apart!
  • I feel you on the body falling apart thing. I get out of breath walking to the bathroom! I hope you get to get up soon. It would be awesome to not be stuck for the rest of your pregnancy!

does anyone here have other kids at home? I am really struggling with my toddler.
  • @serenaxo84 Yes, but mine is almost 6, so she's pretty good at entertaining herself. She does have days where she gets bored though and I feel super guilty for not being able to go do something with her. I can't imagine having a toddler and trying to do this! Is there anyone around to help you?

  • I don't have a toddler either.  FTM here.  What's seems to be the issue?  Maybe we can all brainstorm together to help you out.

  • Thanks ladies! He is 3 at the end of August and he is pretty observant and smart. He knows mama has a boo boo and that I was in the hospital already because he visited me there. But he knows I can't really follow through with discipline so he's really testing me. In the mornings he's usually really good- he comes into my room per usual when he wakes up and lays in bed and cuddles with me. My husband brings milk up in a cooler before he leaves for work- so he drinks his milk we watch tv. Then my mom comes over and helps me get him ready. Yesterday he kept running into the guest room and slamming the door shut on us- refusing to get dressed and finally I just picked him up. I'm allowed to move around- get up a few times a day etc but I'm definitely not allowed to pick him up. But at that point I just had to. He eventually calmed down but it's behavior like that.

It really is typical two year old behavior. He goes to daycare all day and husband picks him up and brings him home. But it's similar behavior- he will use his hammer and hit the window and look at me and when I say no from the couch he will do it again.

So im left feeling like a bad mama- I can't take care of him how I usually do and now I feel like I am yelling at him a lot! We have had a lot of nice moments and he has been liking to sit with me and read books or I'll sit with him and build Legos. But a lot of times I feel like I am just yelling! And that's not that mom I am!
  • Yes, I understand! I'm sorry you're having a rough time. I guess at least it's for a very short time and then you'll be back to being non bed rest mommy. At least he has somewhere to go during the day where he can get out some energy (although 2 year old have an endless supply of energy). I wish I had some advice!

  • @serenaxo84 I'm not on bedrest, but a lurker.  I'm following.  My 3 yo tests my limits too.  His dad doesn't discipline as strictly as I do, and I'm high risk for AMA, multiples, GD, thyroid issues.  I've tried limiting picking him up since at 22 weeks my cervix was short at 2.9 funneling to 1.7.  It's been diagnosed as dynamic since then and doubled in length!  But since that scary few weeks, I've tried not to pick him up at all.

I'm not sure what the solution is, other than hoping when these babies come, I can FINALLY re-address his discipline.  Obviously, if he's in danger of hurting himself, I'm going to pick him up and put him in timeout, but short of that, I'm trying to ignore some of the milder issues.  I've asked hubby to step up the discipline, but he wasn't raised as strict as I was, so he just doesn't.  It's so not a good solution at all, and I'm curious what others have to say.

  • 3 was the hardest with my son, I can't imagine being on bed rest with him! The only recommendation I have is to kid proof as much as you (or DH) can and have a good distraction on hand. We started doing time out around that age and it helped because I could just say 'stop or time out' and he would stop at least some of the time, but that's hard to start on bed rest ...

  • @jessk1014 it's hard not being able to pick them up! I'm sorry you're having the same issues as me! But I'm glad I am not alone. My husband isn't big on the discipline as well. @byebabybunting we started time outs a couple months ago... But he's too damn smart and knows I can't follow through because I can't pick him up... Although this morning I did have to pick him up twice. It was just too much!
  • @serenaxo84  The other ladies gave great advice. Seems like you have a smart one on your hands. He maybe craving attention.

I hate that you have to pick him up. It's kind of a catch 22. Can your mom come over a little earlier to help out before school?
