Hi there!
We got an update yesterday that out of 16 ER, (11 of which were mature, 9 fertilized), that on day 3 we had 6 healthy-looking embryos. I'm way more nervous than I thought I would be, and it makes it harder due to the fact that there's no hard-and-fast statistics out there that indicate how many of them will ultimately make it.
So, for those of you who've had an ER, how many of your day 3 embryos made it to day 5 and turned into a blastocyst?

Re: How many of your embryos made it to day 5?
9 eggs retrieved, 6 mature.
6 fertilized with ICSI
6 still going strong at day 3
2 perfect blasts at day 5 that were good enough to biopsy.
-1 PGS normal 4AA blast
ETA...I should add that I found the 5 days waiting this whole thing out excruciatingly difficult. You invest so much into this process and have at least some "control" when doing stims, but then once it's out of your hands, I had a hard time.
Me - 28, Lean PCOS

FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!

We had 25 on day 3, and then 7 were frozen and biopsied on day 5. I got a call on day 6 that 2 more made it to freezing, so out of 25 total on day 3 we had 9 make it to freeze and biopsy.
I did a ton of reading over the 5-day wait, trying to get an idea of what I could expect. The numbers really are all over the place! So fx'd that your 6 keep growing strong and you get a good update!
(edited to change my day 3 number to 25, I mistakenly put my fertilization number the first time)

I am new to the website. We had 22 at retrieval. 14 fertilized and on day 5 only 5 with 8 cells, none are blastocyst. Is there still hope?
1st IVF 22 retrieved 14 fertilized 0 blast
2nd IVF 16 retrieved 11 fertilized 5 blast
12 retrieved
10 mature
10 fertilized
6 made it to day 5 but only 1 was OK per PGS
in our second cycle we had
7 retrieved
7 matrue
7 fertilized
7 made it to day 5 BUT only
2 made it to blastocyst ( & because its only 2, the RE said no need for PGS, we can just have the body figure it out).
DH : 36, has Chronic Kidney Disease, on dialysis & is waiting on the transplant list (average wait for B+ is 5 years)
Me: 36, Hypothyroidism, PCOS, BMI 32, need to be done with "child bearing" ASAP so that I can be a Kidney donor (was fun realizing we didn't as much time as we thought :-/ )
We're TTC#1
IUI #1 : 5mcg Letrozole (CD 3-7) + Ovidrel Trigger + Had the one follicle = BFN (March 2014)
IUI #2 : 5mcg Letrozole (CD 3-7) + 150 iu Bravelle on CD9 (after much begging!) + Had the one follicle = BFN (April 2014)
7th May 2014 - changed REs, this one seems to care (we think....)
IUI #3 : 7mcg Letrozole (CD 3- 7) + 75 iu Bravelle (CD 8-12) + CD12 Scan 5/16 + Had 3 follicles (2 under 15mm) = BFN(May 2014)
IUI #4 : 7mcg Letrozole (CD 3- 7) + 75 iu Bravelle (CD 8-12) + CD12 Scan 5/16 + Had 1 follicle + DH gave best sample so far = BFN(June 2014)
IVF#1 - ER Only Cycle Sept-Oct 2014, 17 eggs Retrieved, 14 mature, 10 fertilized, 6 made it to Blast & post PGS 5 were not viable due to chromosomal abnormalities
Not sure where we go from here...
We're parents to two very adorable, bratty, affectionate & goofy Bernese Mountain Dog pups who would very much like a 2 legged baby brother or sister of their own!
- out of 22 thawed, we have 7 that made it to Day 6 and are currently frozen (thawed them in batches)
- 2 Day 5's transferred ended in a chemical pregnancy; 1 perfect Day 6 blast ended up making me a mom.
Ive learned that it's quality over quantity. We had SO many embryos (thanks PCOS), but they had a bad attrition rate.
And yes, there is still hope. My embies grew slowly (hence the Day 6's). If you don't wait until blast stage, maybe transfer several. GL.
Hi, all! Hope everyone is ok. We had 2 nice 5-day blasts for the ET. I believe this is not the game for a quality. Quantity is the main issue. For the successful ivf only ONE healthy embryo is enough. As for boosting chances with two put back it should not be the trick. Dr is responsible for allowing or prohibiting it mostly. In our clinic they considered the risks if getting pregnant with multiples. So let me quote for just 1 nice healthy 5-day blast for ivf. X
It's HARD not to fixate on the numbers throughout this process, but the full story is so much more than just digits.
Him: 31, totes fine.
IUI #1: 5 follicles, cycle cancelled :-/
IUI #2: 1 follicle, BFP, chemical
