Good morning, mamas! Hope you're all hanging in there through the summer heat!

1. How far along and what are you carrying?

2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?

3. Rants/Raves/Positives

4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?

Re: Moms of Multiples 7/18

  • Also, I would love some help with future "question of the week" questions. Feel free to post things you're curious about or interested in for future weeks!
  • Loading the player...
  • 1. 28+6, di-di twin boys

    2. I think hitting the 30 week mark is going to make me feel like the end is much closer, even though it's not really a "milestone". Next appt is a quick check-in on the 25th.

    3. Our nursery is finally starting to come together! One crib is built, and the dresser is built and filled. I also had a "nesting" urge last night and did some closet organizing (read: purging) in the guest room, which unfortunately ended with DH getting frustrated at me for "doing too much"...We did our hospital tour and registration last week, which made me feel more prepared and reassured.

    4. I feel like most of my "nesting" ability has been restricted to online shopping, ha. Aside from coming home outfits, I ordered monogrammed hats for at the hospital so we (and visitors) can easily keep track of which baby is which. I thought they would also be a cute way to announce names to family and friends.
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    28+3; twin boys.

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?
7/28 for OB and 8/2 for MFM.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Rant: I think I'm getting a stretch mark and I'm mildly disappointed.

Rave: nursery is nearing construction completion. I told DH that all I want for my birthday is a nursery. I hope he delivers.

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?

Decor and bedding! All big items have already been purchased!

    Me: 28  DH: 27
    TTC since 2011
    IVF #1 June 2013 DD born: 2/25/14
    IVF #2 January 2016 Double Transfer: 1/28/2016

    Twins EDD: 10/13/2016
  • @nlane0723 I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking the smaller purchases are kind of more fun! The big purchases (cribs, car seats, etc) are obviously more useful, but the little things feel more personal and fun to me.

I also was noticing a couple of little reddish spots on existing stretch marks - I think they might be growing. Boo.
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?

    28+1; boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?

    7/21 OB; 8/10 MFM

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

Rant:  I wish I could get enough sleep so that I can work on the nursery.  I feel like all of my energy goes to work and DS when I get home from work.

Rave:  I think our maternity shoot went great yesterday.  I'm excited to see them later this week.  Also, I'm taking one day off work this week for a quick beach trip with DH & DS.  I felt guilty taking time off for us, but I feel like it will be the last time that happens before the twins get here.  I'm really hoping to squeeze in at least one date night for me and DH IF we can get a baby sitter.

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?

Oddly enough, I'm excited to have car seats, their stroller, and their nursery furniture.  Unfortunately, it's all still in boxes!  :)  I'm in need of some serious motivation to get this stuff put together.

I have purchased a few cute outfits for them to be twins in, but I'm trying not to buy too much for DS2 since he'll be getting all of DS1s hand me downs.  I did purchase a cute smocked turkey dress for DD for Thanksgiving, but it was such a great deal, I couldn't pass it up.  I'm eager to look at Christmas pjs for the kids too.  I've seen some cute things already circulating on Facebook.

As for future questions @kmvisioli...  Maybe something fun like Halloween costume suggestions for twins, their siblings/family?  And something serious like birth plans?

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    26+2 - di/di girls

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?
    Glucose test tomorrow
    OB 7/21
    MFM 7/28
The 30th makes 28 weeks which was our first short term goal.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
My contractions are so few and far between now, but are definitely brought on by activity. That includes getting up and going to the restroom if my bladder is full, so I try to pee before I get the urge. SO re-did my closet space this weekend and it is fabulous so I got to hang out in the closet with her for a couple hours yesterday. :) I am also still so happy that Baby B (Cora) flipped head down so now I may have the option of how I deliver.

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?
We have bought all of the necessities in case the girls came early and a shower wasn't optional before delivery. So, now, I'm just excited to see what we may get at our shower on the 7th. My mom bought our car seats though and she got them this weekend. Excited to have those and put them in the car!

For future questions - I like the idea of delivery plans.
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    26-6 mo/do girls

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?
    MFM 7/27 Reg OB 8/2

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
No stretch marks so far! And I still feel really good for the most part.
At our MFM appt. we were told that twin B has a velamentous cord insertion which means she will have a growth restriction and hopefully no other complications. Dr said not to worry about it, so I guess that's a good sign. Follow-up is next week to check her growth.

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?
Finally have crib figured out....they will be sharing for the first while and we get a second hand one as soon as friend's toddler is moved out. My BIL is bringing our changing table thus week...yay! Otherwise I've bought very little because our house is super tiny.
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    26w4d b/g twins

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?
I'm seeing mfm every thursday, biophysical profiles every week and growth scans every other week. And i see my ob on the bpp weeks only. Just taking it week by week right now.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Rants: This fake bed rest I'm on is weird. I don't have any real guidelines other than just don't work.
Raves: Nothing really? Daisy had the hiccups at the last scan and Peter is practice breathing already so hopefully there won't be any major lung/diaphragm issues if we have to deliver really early.

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?
All we've really bought is clothes so far. I'm actually really stressed out about not having cribs or car seats or even a room for them, especially since it's looking like we're not even gonna get close to term. But we live with my inlaws and there's a loft off of our bedroom that we're planning to make into a fake room for them. My MIL does not seem thrilled we're still going to be here after they're born which is a whole other stressful thing.
  • @lmno304 so sorry to hear that your MIL is adding to your stress! I hope once the littles are here she is just happy to have them nearby and willing to be helpful. And really don't stress yourself out about all the stuff- they just need any place to sleep, diapers, and you (or bottles) for a while. If they do wind up coming early, you will probably still have some time before you are all back home to get any critical items sorted out.
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
I am 24 weeks tomorrow with di/di twins.  Both girls

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?
Saw mfm yesterday and everything was right on track

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Just anxious to get the nursery put together...

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far? So far I've mainly been buying the big stuff cribs carseats, and dresser...so I am excited to start buying clothes and stuff like that
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?

    29 weeks 3 days; di/di boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?

30 weeks on Saturday - this was our first short term goal to hit.

Also - 30 week OB visit this Friday and next growth scan with the MFM is at 32 on Aug 9

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

Rants- I hate to be negative but oh man my back is starting to hurt and my stomach is SO itchy and feels stretched to the max.  At my last MFM appointment last week the dr said... just think with the babies and placentas you have almost 6 lbs of baby inside of you and this is how big you would probably be if you were full term with one.   I said.. thanks... but I definitely (hopefully) still have a ways to go which means a lot more belly stretching - oy!

Raves - I am getting my first ever prenatal massage on Monday.  I splurged for the 80 minutes - my coworkers gave us a twin carrier and then cash to pamper and I decided to actually follow instructions from them. SO EXCITED.  Also - since I'm not traveling to MN next week for my SIL's wedding with DH, I am going to stay-cation and my mom is coming to visit.  Can't wait!

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?

I'm excited that we have what we need to get them home and survive the first few weeks.  But- I have to agree the little details and outfits have been so much fun to get!!

I also really like the idea of talking about birth plans for a future question.  & I like the other fun question ideas that @jessk104 shared.  :)  Some other ideas.. breastfeeding/formula recommendations?   My pregnancy brain can't remember if we've talked about that yet.   I'll keep thinking and let you know if I come up with anything else.  @Kmvisioli thank you for putting this thread together each week - I really look forward to checking in with you all!

  • @lmno304 Glad to hear they are both still growing!! & I hope this confusing/weird bed rest is somehow helping Daisy even if we don't know exactly how that is quite yet!

@sjo_thetwins I hope everything is still going well with your bedrest too!!

Sending you ladies lots of good vibes for those babies to keep cookin!

  • I am late this week!!

    1. How far along and what are you carrying?

    28 weeks today, boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?

glucose test yesterday, OB appointment today to get results and check up, multiples childbirth class tonight.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

I finally picked a color for the nursery and DH spent the first half of last Saturday painting. I came home from running errands and saw the room and cried. I don't like it. Its too green. Reminds me of a Key West color instead of the very soft pale green I had in my head. So after some discussion, he has agreed to repaint this Saturday so I better make sure to pick a more likeable color. Ugh.

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?

I was able to get 2 brand new cribs from an auction website for under $200, got 1 brand new Graco car seat from Craigslist for $100, and one of those double snap and go stroller frames from Craigslist (also new) for $30. I am on a roll with my deal-hunting!

As for future questions, I also like the birth plan idea, pictures of "bring home" outfits, and if you are currently working, what are your plans after baby?

Thanks for the future question ideas, girls! I love checking in with you all and hearing how things are going for other multiple pregnancies (having also had a singleton, I can attest that it is a whole new experience).

@GoBucksOH I hope you find a color you're happier with! I made that mistake with our dining room- painted the whole room as a "surprise" and it wound up looking like a prison cell instead of a nice warm neutral. oops.

@girvin21 enjoy your massage and staycation! What awesome treats!

    1. How far along and what are you carrying?

    27w3d MoDi Girls

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?

not really a milestone but had my weekly ultrasound pushed back to biweekly, but Baby A has dropped a little on her growth chart so we will see how long biweekly's last

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

I don't think I have ever wanted a summer to go by so fast! I am usually not a complainer but OMG I have reached the miserable point in the pregnancy and still have about 9 weeks to go.

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?

We have a lot of the big items and have been given a ton of handy me downs for clothes, so I haven't really bought anything for the girls yet. But I am excited to buy presents from the girls to my 2 year old, to give to him when he meets them for the first time in the hospital!

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    27w3d mo/di twin girls
    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?
I had my glucose test today. It was absolutely awful. I didn't get to choose the flavor so I was stuck with fruit punch. :(. I also had to get my TDAP shot today but that wasn't bad.
    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Rant: I am so sick of people telling me I need to eat more (I've only gained about 10 pounds but all the weight is going to my belly). If my doctor isn't worried then neither am I.
Rave: My mom is coming into town next week for my shower and I'm so excited. I can't wait to spend time with her and visit with all our friends.

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?
i picked up one of the mattresses today and the rest of the furniture should be delivered next week. It arrived at the store yesterday so they should call today or tomorrow to schedule delivery.

  • Hi ladies!

    1. How far along and what are you carrying?
I am 29w2d with didi twin boys.

    2. Upcoming appointments or milestones?
I have an OB appointment on Monday and she always does an ultrasound, so I am looking forward to that.  The next milestone is my last day of work in just 2 weeks!

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Rants - I don't sleep through the night at all anymore.  I used to be able to get up, go to the bathroom and go right back to sleep.  Now I am up for hours in the middle of the night for no reason whatsoever.

    4. Question of the week: What purchase(s) are you most excited about for your twins so far?
We have the dressers, the cribs, and a few clothes.  My mom and aunt got us the city select double stroller, so that was exciting!  We have our shower this weekend, so I will start buying whatever else we need after that.

Future questions: birth plans, sleeping arrangements when the babies first come home, who is going to help with the babies, breastfeeding and pumping.

Thanks @kmvisioli for keeping this group going and for coming up with great questions so far!
  • Had MFM today... didn't go well. Peter is very healthy which I can be glad about. He's over 2lbs and very active. Daisy has only gained 15g in 2 weeks. Half of what she gained between the last appointments. Her growth has stalled to a point that the dr. has finally given us odds of survival, 2%. It seems to be a foregone conclusion that we're going lose her soon. She's developed absent diastolic flow in her cord which points to sooner rather than later. We were offered twice weekly u/s just for peace of mind to know when it happens, but it seems extravagant and wasteful, so we chose to keep our regular schedule. It's hard to hold onto hope with the chances we were given today, but if she hasn't given up yet, how can i?
  • @lmno304 that breaks my heart. You are such a strong woman and those babies are so lucky to have you as their mama. I'm not sure how to offer any help or wise words, but my thoughts are with you and your family. I think Daisy is such a strong little fighter, and if she hasn't given up, then you shouldn't either. Hugs, mama.
  • Oh, @lmno304 my heart is aching for you and your Daisy. So sorry you did not get better news. Please keep us posted and let us know how we can support you.
  • @lmno304 I am so sorry. Hearing this breaks my heart and I want to reach out and give you a hug. I have no words that can make you feel better, just know I am thinking of you, Peter, and Daisy. I will continue to think about you and send positive vibes your way.

  • I'm so sorry. My heart is breaking for you. Please
know that you are in my thoughts and that you have us to lean on too. Big hugs. @lmno304

@lmno304. I'm so sorry.   We're here for you.  I'll keep praying for you,  Peter,  and your little fighter Daisy.
  • @lmno304 I am so sorry about the news you got today. You and Daisy are in all of our thoughts. I'm hoping for a miracle for you and your family.
  • Thanks everyone for your support. We still hold onto the hope that things will turn around... after all, she isn't gone yet so we can't count her out. The biggest struggle is how the feelings come and go in waves. One minute we're feeling her move and feeling the hope, faith and optimism that go along with it and the next we're curled around each other sobbing for hours until we fall asleep. But we have each other, and, for now, we still have 2 babies. Trying to cherish the time we have with her, if it's all we have left. Thank you again ladies, your support, belief and encouragement have helped me make it through today with my head still on straight.
