The Feliway diffusers are damned MAGIC. Most cats respond positively to them. And as @bnsmith85  alluded to, there are anti anxiety meds for cats if it comes down to it.

  • @Alikvasnok Yes yes and yes on the broken brain! I do it all the damn time, at work, at home, this brain just doesn't work as of late. I know what I mean, but that's not what my mouth says!!

My (late) BF is I almost had my first unwanted belly rub yesterday. There's a girl who I used to go to high school with who works at the grocery store I go to. We aren't close, but she's close with some of my other friends (we actually were just in a wedding together).

This is not the first time she's done this to me, either. When I was pregnant with DD, I got a wicked cold right out the gate. I called my doc, got the ok for what meds to take, and flew to the store to pick up anything and everything I was allowed to have. I was at the self checkout, which she was manning at the time, and came up to me, rubbed my belly, and said "Are you sure all this is good for the little one?" I about ripped her face off. I can't remember what I said to her, but I know it wasn't very nice. She thought I was funny, which was fine with me. I just needed my drugs and to go home.

Fast forward to yesterday. I'm again at the self checkout (she was not running it this time, but must have seen me pass her lane), and she comes up to me while I'm ringing up my stuff and reached for my belly. I blocked her with my groceries. She then proceeds to complain that we aren't Facebook friends and since we aren't, I need to tell her what I'm having. I respond that I haven't told anyone yet, and "What makes you so special?" Again she thought I was hilarious (even though I was stone cold serious) and pretended to get all mad if I told mutual friend what I'm having before her. WHAT?! Mutual friend has been one of my best friends for like 15 years; I will tell her everything and you nothing because I find you to be the most annoying person I have ever encountered.

I was just going to suggest a Feliway diffuser.  I volunteer with a cat rescue and often cats are high stress due to being abandoned by their family, to a shelter, to a 8 hour car ride, to a foster, to a vet, back to foster, and eventually to furever home.  We always recommend Feliway deffusers, often multiples if needed, and almost always they help.

@ibabyloveb87 I asked today, and they said they don't stress about position until 36 weeks since they still have plenty of room to move around in there until then :)

STUCK IN BOX: I read this first part and thought, "Aw, how sad that her best friend died."
  • @SpaceBurger @LauraPCOS Oops! I should have made that clearer lol.

  • @TurtleMomma @LauraPCOS Thanks ladies! My vet sells them, I'll go get one right now.

Poor guy isn't having a good day. The sedative they gave him isn't working so he's agitated because he doesn't feel good and is locked up in a bathroom. He was supposed to be too doped up to notice.  :'(

  • @krzyriver... ask about increasing the sedative dosage. One of my pets is super sensitive to the sedative we've had to give and another has to almost be maxed out on dosage to notice. Your cat might just be more tolerant than most. Also, so sorry you're going through this, I know it's so stressful :(
  • @bnsmith85 Crazy stressful. I can't even imagine what a mess I'll be when the baby is sick!!

After a long day, my kitty is now staying overnight at an emergency vet. He's so dehydrated, they just want to keep him until he's back to normal. Then he'll be on a strict diet and we'll have to careful so that we don't over stress him anymore. Poor guy.

  • @krzyriver... Poor baby! Keep us posted on how he's doing me when you pick him up tomorrow.
  • @bnsmith85 Well unfortunately I won't be picking him up today. They found that he's also constipated! The good news: that may have caused all of this and it may not be stress related. The bad news: he can't come home until he poops. They said if he poops today, he can come home tomorrow. But they've already given him two enemas and have to give him another one! Poor guy. But they said he's in good spirits, loving all the attention he's getting from them. That sounds like my kitty. Lol

Dehydration is quite the beast! It's amazing how hydration links so many systems. Hopefully they can get his systems back on track quickly.
