CPR training

Hi!

Is anyone considering doing some Infant CPR + First Aid training? 

I'm considering doing this just so I can worry less just in case something happens. I did actual adult CPR training so long ago but infant is totally different.

What are your thoughts?

My husband did it, and my mother and I are going to a class called "tot saver" - it isn't just CPR, it is also what to do if your kiddo eats a mushroom out of the backyard, burns their hand on the over, has a fever over 102 - all that good stuff. I think that will be much more useful than just CPR.

The class my husband took at babies r us went over both adult and infant cpr, but not any of the other stuff and he came away officially certified. Which since he works in a factory now, earned him a sticker at work. (not kidding, he really did get a sticker on his name badge identifying him as CPR certified)

You never know when you might need it - I had to google "how to Heimlich a cat" once because my cat choked on a rock she decided to eat while going for a walk on her leash (when I lived in the city, I walked her rather than just letting her out) - I was panicked enough with that, if it's my BABY I'd want to know, and know I was doing it right-  and not have to rely on doctor google.

We took a child/infant cpr class when I was pg with DS. I thought it was very helpful. DH wants to take it again. The teacher also said knowing the proper technique is important because while you may be panicking in the moment, if you're on the phone with 911 or whatever and they are trying to talk to through the steps you'll have a reference point to go back to.

Yup! We are taking a "Baby Safe" class tomorrow. It will cover infant CPR as well as some other first aid and safety-related stuff. Not the ideal way to spend a summer Saturday but I think it's worth it. Ours was offered by our hospital, but you don't have to be delivering there to take it.

We took the infant and child cpr class this morning through our hospital and I'm so glad I did it. I was Cpr certified like 12 years ago but had forgotten everything and obviously things have changed. If you have a chance I'd recommend it!

We took a class that covered adult and infant CPR and first aid. It covered everything from choking to seizures to deep cuts to heat stroke to hypothermia and shock. I'm really glad we did. My thinking is that if something were to happen and I could have saved my child (or someone else) if only I had learned how, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself. 

Eta: The thing you are most likely to use is the technique for a choking baby/child. So if nothing else, look into that for sure.

We took the CPR class at BRU (but we didn't get certified). It just covered CPR and choking. I have taken an adult CPR class, but it has been years, so this was a good refresher, as things have changed since then anyway.

We are taking our Infant CPR class tomorrow offered to NICU parents. Looking forward to it for sure.
