First name ideas for middle name Dorothy?

I would like to honor my gma Dorothy with a middle name.  Can you think of any first names that go with it.  It seems like names that end in "A" work pretty well, like Fiona or Veronica.  But any other ideas? :)  Thanks!
My TTC History:
2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
2010: Infertility
2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
2012: Baby #1
2014: Baby #2
October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

Re: First name ideas for middle name Dorothy?

  • I actually think a lot of names go well with Dorothy but I would go for shorter ones like:

    Anna
    Claire
    Erin
    Lena

I think Fiona pairs nicely with it.

  • What's nice about pairing with Dorothy is it has the stress on the first syllable (DOR-uh-thi) so as long as you don't pair it with something exactly the same (like Emily) it should have a good flow. I agree that a vowel at the end of the first name works well!

    Alana
    Cecilia
    Maria
    Christina
    Sophia
    Melissa
    Makayla
    Diana
  • I love Fiona Dorothy!

    Stella
    Victoria
    Veda
    Grace
    Natalia
    Brynn
    Olivia
    Eve
    DD: Ophelia 5/18/15
  • For me Dorothy is all first name, which is of no help to you. I just want to say I think it is an awesome name and PP have given great suggestions. Good luck :)
  • Thank you all! All great suggestions. I'm trying to convince my Dh to go with Julianne Dorothy. He likes Julianne, but is not sure about The Dorothy part. I also like that she could go by JD if she wanted something less girly. Do you think Julianne Dorothy sounds OK? Our last name is 3 syllables and ends in ski. So it would be Julianne Dorothy lastnameski.

  • I think it sounds fine and Julianne is beautiful! Several people questioned the flow of LO's name but for me it was way more important to honor my grandmother than to make sure the fn I loved flowed well with her middle name.
  • I like Julianne Dorothy m
  • I think you should go with Julianne Dorothy!

Thank you. I really love the name Clara, but it reminds me of Clara Belle the cow from the Disney show.  :)
