WTF Wednesday (July 13)

Re: WTF Wednesday (July 13)

  • @annabenanna there are tons of small companies that make furry-specific outfits where yea...there are holes. I think it's part sexual part reality. Their sexual persona kind of turns into their every day life or vice versa. There was a furry at my college, and he literally wore a fuzzy ear headband along with a fuzzy clip on fox tail every single day rain or shine. That was just what he was at that point.

I guess a good comparison would be drag queens - some do it for sexual reasons, some it's just another persona, and some people their drag queen persona and every day life persona kind of meld into one,  and some keep them very separate.

  • It just took me an hour and a half to drive 17 miles. WTFFFFF
  • I was a furry for a while. Well, I role played online as one for a few years. I never wore the costumes or anything. It was more about how you identified as a person, and some people more identified themselves as a particular animal than anything else. Yeah, there was sexual stuff involved, but mostly we just goofed around and role played scenarios (fantast/scifi/etc). I don't see it as any different than someone who, for example, LARP's or gets really into D&D.

  • @TurtleMomma  Is it weird to ask which type of animal you were?

  • if it is weird, you can lie and say you were a turtle

  • Please say a Liger...
  • I loved that CSI episode!

  • @TurtleMomma where did you role play cause so did I.  I was only a virtual furry (I was a very sexually playful black kitten), and I did role playing but I never took it further than the interactive site.  I did have a friend that used to be a secret furry, but he was really struggling with self identity so he never went public.  His furry (a typical fox) was gay, but he himself was into girl, so I think he was bi, but being in small town Texas he didn't feel safe coming out (in any of his personas).

  • Mostly I was an ocelot, but I had a subcharacter that was a peacock and another who was a tiny dragon.

    @LauraPCOS

I mostly role played in the text-based MUCK called Anthropomorphia and I tried Furry/Fuzzy Logic but didn't like it much.

  • This thread just took the most awesome turn. Thanks guys!
  • I loooooove reading about people's different lifestyles and fantasies/personas. Yay for change of topic on TB!
  • So I have a weird bellybutton phobia, I hate for it to be touched in any way. Hubby thinks it's hilarious.  Anyways, I'm dreading the day it pops out, he'll never leave it alone, I might stab him and it's completely his fault.
  • @LauraPCOS Pittsburg actually hosts the largest furry convention in the US yearly. We actually talked about it in my Gender and Sexuality class back in college.
  • I have never heard of a furry. Thanks for enlightening me!!!

Also, I hate when people touch my belly button too @samkins

The role playing really was great fun, tbh. People got super creative with their characters/personas and I loved seeing people explore that way. In a weird way, I attribute a portion of my writing skills to RPing because it really required talent and imagination to tell stories like that and interact with people.

ETA: I don't consider myself a furry anymore, per say, but I do identify with part of my inner nature as a cat.

  • @samkins I have a thing about my belly button, too.  I hate when my husband messes with it.  I have an irrational fear that it could unravel and my organs will to fall out.  (I know that is impossible, but I can't help but think about it every time I think about my belly button).  I didn't get an outtie my first pregnancy (just a flatter, more elongated belly button), so I'm hoping it doesn't happen this time.
  • @LauraPCOS yep! They have it every 4th of July weekend here in Pittsburgh :|

  • I know it's not Wednesday, but, WTF DH? We are going on  mini vacay before baby comes and you want to spend time with friends while we are there? Sure, no problem. You want to spend time with friends at Universal Studios, where I cannot ride any of the rides and will be standing there in the sun miserable and sweating myself into a heat rash? Not cool. WTF.

  • @MrsHudson2014 I can definitely understand where you're coming from with the rides and heat, but I for one would kill to go anyway! Then again, I have never been so I still possess a childlike enthusiasm and sense of wonder about Universal Studios haha
  • @AllyTheKid We usually do Disneyland once a year, and are skipping that since I really can't do much but shop. The only saving grace for me at Universal is the new Hogwarts land...although, perhaps I'll just shop all day and he will have to deal with the bill!!

@sportiegrl1213 after the rash I got when we were walking around vegas for less than an hour, I sure hope so too!!
