Baby names?

So I know it's extremely early, but do any of you guys have names picked out? I love thinking about names even when I'm not pregnant so I keep a baby names list in my notes app.

so far mine are:
Charlotte Marie, Mary Jane 
Levi David or Joel David

our other two kids are named Benjamin Ray and Ezra Gordon (middle names after grandfathers). 

also, what is the deciding factor for you, in choosing a name? The way it sounds, the meaning, or having it be after someone?

Names are so hard! We have a running spreadsheet, it's actually the same one we used with DD just updated. Still at the point that I add to it every time I hear a name that intrigues me. Last time we ranked them and ended up with the same name in both our top 3, so we decided on that (#1 for him, #2 for me). DD has a short, 2 syllable name, so I am wanting to do a 2 syllable name again, plus it fits well with our last name.

We have none picked out.  I think DH wants something simple.  He has a common name that's spelled untraditionally and our last name is really hard to spell and pronounce.  Although he's used to it, I think he wants to go easy on the kid

@MK1013 we also have a syllable thing going one so I feel like I need to stick with it.   Both of my kids have 1 syllable names that are 5 letters. We did it on accident. So I think, would it be weird if the third doesn't have 1 syllable too??

We have a long complicated last name so I do like keeping their names simple.

I picked our daughter's name and my husband picked our son's name.  I didn't love it at first but I caved.  Boy names were harder for us than girl names.  I do have one girl name I like but we haven't even talked about anything yet.

We have such a hard time picking names! We are both super picky and then when one of us likes one, the other doesn't. Our son wasn't named until he was 14 hours old and that was after having 23 weeks to decide!  

Funnily, just this weekend we talked about Ezra being a cool name if it is a boy. You have good taste! We also may have agreed upon Elijah, as well.  Not sure about a girl yet. We currently have a Josephine (Josie) and a Jude.

I like Sarah for girl...and boy, well I am just stumped with boy names that go well with our last name.

I think that for a girl, we would choose Deborah Joy.  DH's mom had 3 sons, but every time she got pregnant, she was certain the baby was a girl, and she had the name Deborah all picked out.  DH and his brothers decided years ago that whoever has a girl first will name her Deborah.

Not certain yet for a boy name.  Thinking about Miles or Michael for the first name (DH has a thing for boy names that start with M, I guess).

If it's a boy, we're leaning towards Thomas Christopher (his grandpa's first name and DH's first name)
If it's a girl, I have no idea whatsoever.  I used up my girl names with my first two lol

Boy names we are pretty set on Colton. Middle name either Edward or Tyler. 

Girl names we have 2 we both really like: Thea or Felicity. Stumped on middle names for a girl. The only middle name we can agree on so far is Elise.

I've had my boy names picked out forever. Girl names are really hard though.

Anecdote - My BFF's mom only had boys before she was born, and she knew she was done having kids when her daughter arrived. So, my BFF has three middle names, none of them being a surname or anything. I'm not going to do that, but I find it awesome that her mom was like, "Screw it. I'm going to use all my favorite girl names on her!"

For a boy, we'll probably go with Bohdi James (James is a family name for DH, but I'm not sure I wanted him to be a III), for a girl its looking like Oaklei (Oakli?) Jean (we considered this for DD and have always said if we had another girl we'd go with it).

I'm not necessarily trying to be trendy or unique with strange spellings ---- my name is Courtni, my sisters are Hali and Elli, and my daughter's name is Averi ... "i"s are a family thing at this point.  No key-chains in this poor kid's future.

We picked ours out as soon as we started trying,  I had several I liked and DH picked two.   Charlotte Noelle and Charley Wayne
 I have always loved Charlotte and it goes great with DD Audrey Elise ,  DH picked Noelle,  he also picked DD's middle name so it's fitting. Charley is DH's grandpa who he was extremely close with and Wayne is after my dad. Wayne is a weird sounding name to me and it needs the perfect first name and Charley just fits!
I've listed at least 100 other boy names to DH just tossing them out there and he doesn't like anything else. We're pretty set those are gonna be the names . 
With DD it took 7 months to get DH to agree to Audrey so I love that we've already agreed to names.

Soooo I've had names picked out for sooo long that I have always loved for a boy and a girl, and I've talked them so far into the ground that DH refuses to discuss anything else! Which is my fault because I made him love them by talking about them for years lol. But now I'm like, what if I want to change my mind at 38 weeks?! I have that right! But it is cute when he talks about our future children and calls them by name lol, we are not creepers I swear.

Marie is my middle name and Clark is his middle name. I just love the name Clark for a little boy I think it's so stinkin cute! I also love that they both phonetically sound the same with the Y at the end.

We don't really have anything. We used up both our favorites already with one boy and one girl. We weren't planning on more! But we tend to go with a rarer first name (both of our LOs are in the 400s in the US) and a more classic middle name (in fact Skye Elise was very nearly Skye Elizabeth, but we thought the French variant matched better). I really love Tobias (possibly Tobias James) for a boy, but DH is neutral at best.

@JAGinMI we also love Josephine or Josie!!! Same taste in names for sure!!! I was so frustrated when princess Kate stole my baby girl name  

I'm all about the syllable thing too. It's always hard when I find one that rhymes too much with one of my other children's names or is out of harmony with our last name @MK1013

For boy, we like James so far, but DH isn't in love. We looooove the name Daniel, but DS's name is Jack and I just can't do that name combo. We also like Rob, but DS's middle name is Robert so that might be weird.

We won't even talk about names until I know it's a) healthy and b) the gender! 

After that I think I'll download the baby tinder-like apps and hopefully we get a handful of matches to start the discussion!!

That's such a cute story for Deborah! And I have loved the name Miles for years now.

With DS, our choice was simple. I had always said that if I had a son, he would be named after my grandfather, and DH always wanted to use his father's name (which is also his MN) for a middle name. Hence our son.

If DS had been a girl, we'd finally decided on Charlotte Emilia, but it was a real struggle because DH kept vetoing everything I threw out, and only offered Belle as a choice (he loves Beauty & the Beast!), but that's too much of a NN for me.

I still love Charlotte Emilia, but he's on the fence about the MN now. If this baby turns out to be a girl, I also like Felicity, Aurora, and Arabella. If it's a boy, my top contender is currently Oliver, followed by Samuel, Benjamin, and Theodore. DH mentioned briefly that he'd like to use either Walter or Joseph as MN if we have another boy, but I'm really against using more family names, and I don't necessarily think it's fair for all of our children to have a MN picked by DH when they also automatically get DH's last name.

We had the name combo issue too. My husband liked Grayson (NN Gray) for a boy, but I immediately vetoed it on the grounds that we would then have Dorian + Gray. Nnnnnooope.

No indeed! Haha. I love The Picture of Dorian Gray, but I tell myself my son is named for the beauty of the novel itself rather than for the character! It gets me by.

We actually had names chose before we even got pregnant. My husband really loves Gabriel Michael as a boys name and has wanted it as his sons name since before we were dating. Similarly, I had decided before meeting my husband that any daughter of mine would have a middle name of Pearl as a namesake of my late great-grandmother. So, I decided Andriana Pearl (Andriana is the female form of Andreas which is my dad's middle name, and is the more proper Greek translation over Andrea). If we have another daughter, I promised my mom that her middle name will be Marilee (after my other late great-great grandmother), but I'm struggling coming up with a first name that would go as well with it!

@ihateusernames* I love Charlotte! That's one of my top names, but DH doesn't like it. Ughhh.

my name rules--none of the top popular names. has to be pronounceable for a stranger, no weird spellings, sound good with our last name, and mostly don't know anyone by the name that you once dated or hated   My daughters name is Nora, so it has to work with her name too.

My tops now are:: Elise, Ingrid, Chloe &
James, Theodore, Lee... I'm sure they'll all change 100% by next week! Haha.

When we were pregnant with DS we were set on Nicholas Elliott. Nicholas was in both of our "top 10" list and Elliott is his stepfathers MN. We couldn't decide at all on a girl!! Ended up with Isabella Juliette after my grandma and an adorable little girl I had babysat for. 

This time we're in LOVE with Cecelia Isabelle for a girl after both our maternal grandmothers. 

"Like" Robert John for grandfathers and my stepdad but we'll have to see because the more I think about it the less I like it lol

Love love love baby names. I'm so glad you started this thread. DD's name is Sarah Faith, and he picked the first name and I picked the middle, but we both agreed on it in the end. This time we are switching where I get massive sway on the first name and he gets the middle.
I really like Madelyn/Madeline and Eleanor. I also like Hannah and Norah a lot but I think Sarah and Hannah/Norah are too matchy. DH's fav is Eleanor, mine is Madeline (pronounced MadeLYN, though I might spell it Madelyn to avoid confusion even though I like the other spelling a teensy bit better). I also like Mackenzie but probably only because of my Outlander obsession right now and I don't think I would like this long term.
For boys we like Liam and Evan and are leaning toward Liam. We know how popular Liam is right now but we don't know any and sort of don't care because we love the name. And we are of Scotch/Irish heritage, so there's that. I also like Asher and Nathan but were vetoed.

If it's a girl it will most likely be Everly Rose. If it's a boy I don't really know...I really like the name Wyatt. I also want to try and use Wendall to honor a family member but I'm having a hard time finding something we both like.

@JAGinMI My husbands been wanting that name since his brother changed his mind on naming his second child Gabriel. I was on the fence about it before, but now that we're having a kid, I couldn't really care! If it were a boy, his name could be potato and I'm sure I'd still love him lol. I saw you were considering Elijah though, and I really like that name too! Reminds me of Elijah Wood and the LotR movies.

We love the name Norah as well!!! It's funny when you have a similar taste in names as some one you meet, often there's more than one (matching name).

We haven't even thought of any this time yet, I still want to go for my first scan and make sure we are all healthy first before we really start exploring options.

With DD1, we were Team Green, so our boy name would've been Angelo Gerard, since it was a miracle, our angel, and St Gerard is who I prayed to every day.  For her name- Cecilia Judith, it was a way to honor my mom.  (my mom passed away right after DH and I started dating)  We were at church, and he pointed out a name in the missal "Cecilia" and I said I really liked that name, we turned to the back of the book to look up her Saint's day, and it happened to fall on my mother's birthday...so it was fate  Her middle name is DH's mom's name.  

It's going to be hard for me to top such a special name this time lol

I love names too! I'm always so interested in the choices people make. Lots of lovely names here! 

DD is Camille Clementine. Took us ages to agree, DH and I have very different tastes in girl names. But our boy name we picked (and very easily agreed on) last time was Henry, I'm sure that will be top of the boy list again. For a girl I'm currently loving Colette.

I love the nickname, but I think it sounds like a little girls name so we went with Lilia as a first name, but fully intend to call her Lilly.

Plusandalso, the Harry Potter geek in me is freaking out about getting to use Lilly haha.
