TTC After a Loss

--TW-- Back Again

Well it may be needless to say but I am back after my 2nd loss. This one was much harder than the first one was. The first one was in January of this year due to a blighted ovum. I had gotten my 2nd BFP at the end of May. My beta numbers had looked awesome and we had an u/s at 6 weeks that showed a heartbeat, it was a little slow at 98 but it was there. When we went back for a f/u u/s to check the heartbeat at almost 8 weeks we found out the worst, our little one no longer had a heartbeat and stopped growing at 6 wks 4 days. I think the worst part of all of this was that I was at the appt alone because my husband had to work. I had told him that it would be fine because I would just be in and out, that they were just checking the heart. In hindsight, I should have known better. We had the D&C the next the day. I pretty much cried from the moment I found out on June 23rd until the 27th. That is when my husband decided we needed to take a vacation (Door County in Wisconsin is beautiful!). He did a really great job of keeping me distracted so I had less time to think about what we just went through. It is amazing how men seem to process things so much different.
So as of July 7th we are benched until after I have an u/s of my uterus without being pregnant, and that can't happen until I get my period. I guess that there was something a little unusual in my previous u/s for both pregnancies and when they did my last u/s and they "hit a speed bump" when they went into my uterus to do my D&C. Which my understanding is they think it may be a fibroid but depending on where the placement is, they may find it necessary to remove it because if the egg implants on it then that may be a cause of a MC.
Other precautions for my next pregnancy (whenever that may happen) are progesterone and daily aspirin. I was on progesterone for this last one and I have to say that the suppositories suck, but gotta do what you gotta do.

So I guess for right now until I have more answers, I will be lurching and contributing where I can. You ladies were such a great support last time and I want to thank you all!

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. Second one for me also hurt much more ( not to say that any hurts less) I also had noticed how men absolutely sometimes process this all so differently. We has such different healing processes. We did go to a few therapy sessions together, which helped a ton. Anyway. wishing you both the best for the next few months, and that you get some answers and more peace of mind ( if possible) I hope you like coming here to get support when you need it!
