I was just taking a nap and rudely awakened by my boyfriends mom. For some reason she needed to let me know she was here to swim. She doesn't need to let me know that!! I CAN'T EVEN GO SWIMMING RIGHT NOW. Don't call me and try to FaceTime me when we just talked earlier and I said come whenever the pool gate is not locked, you can just go! What a way to be woken up.

  • DH has been watching birth videos on YouTube and I'm just hiding out!  I want to live in my bubble of what labor and delivery will be like.  It's adorable that he's so into it, but im do not ready for reality!

  • DH's grandma on his dad's side thinks she is some kind of baby whisperer. She drives me absolutely insane with her "advice." She smokes like a chimney and either smells like cigarettes or her old lady perfume. We told her the baby was here on the 2nd day - she lives about an hour and a half away. She most definitely overstayed her welcome at the hospital, even though it was only for a couple of hours. She was holding the baby and I had mentioned that she was getting fussy because it was about time for her to eat. Well for some reason, she assumed the nurse that had just left was going to be returning to feed the baby? She goes, "I thought she was coming back to feed her?" Uhhhhh no? I feed her. To which she replies, "Oh, are you nursing her?" Yes lady. Now give me my baby and leave so I can whip out a boob.

Mind you, she is in her 70s at least, smoked and drank while pregnant with DH's father, and wonders why he was a month premature. Constantly telling us that when our baby or DH's niece is crying that they are hurting, they need to be burped (even though they didn't just eat), they like to be held this way. Yesterday, she asks me if I'm giving LO water yet. I was so confused and had to have her repeat what she said. I told her babies can't have water until about 6 months or so. How did DH's father make it out alive?!
  • @megstervt Don't blame you at all. SO do not want to see that... I was also that way when they asked if I wanted the mirror. Um, no. Nope. All kinds of nope.

If you're having a boy, you should also avoid circumstances videos on YouTube. Freakin' brutal!
  • On the subject of the mirror during labor, I definitely thought I would not want anything to do with that but when the time came I changed my mind and it was actually awesome. And I found it really motivating!

My bitch today is that my husband is still on leave for another week but he had to go in today because his stupid coworker that was supposed to work today bailed and his stupid boss couldn't just figure something else out.

I never watched a birthing video until after DS1 was born. I enjoyed the ignorance!

  • @stellaluna14 Brave. I definitely would be able to. Too worried I would freak out when I saw what was going on downtown.
  • I have all the feels...crying at everything!

Plus they found major scarring on one of my tubes during my ligation, so had to dig around and detach it before cutting it, and I am extra sore on that side. Bah.
  • @eschreinerwrites, @stellaluna14
im open to the mirror, we'll see how I feel in the moment though!  As for circumcision, we've chosen not to, so
    no need for those videos!

He started watching videos of the newborn screening tests and I thought that would be good to watch just so I would know.  Got to the part where they gave the baby her first shot and burst into tears.  DH was baffled and so confused.  All I could mumble through my sobs was how sad I was that LO has spent 10 months cozy and warm and in his first hours hell come out and be so confused and then given shots.  We're doing the shots and tests, cause science, but holy hormones.  No more baby videos!

  • Update: bartered a bj for some non-baby snuggles instead of sexy texts. He got his bj, my snuggles were interrupted after 2 mins by a crying baby. 10 mins later (during which I got up to change a diaper) he announced that he's going to go sleep in the other room because he has to work in the morning and the baby is fussing. It's been 10 freaking minutes. Let me get him settled and he may sleep for 2 hours. Ughhhhhh.  Feeling so abandoned tonight.
  • @jennyleigh16 That's balls!
  • @jennyleigh16 what the heck?! Oh no! He owes you big time!

    July16 JULY siggy challenge

  • @jennyleigh16 oh hellllllll no! I'm sorry. I hope hubby pulls the stick out of his butt and remembers being a daddy is a 24/7 thing! We are ALL exhausted. Hang in there girl.
  • @megstervt we had my first son (now 7) circumsized and my DH watched the video after the fact. We were planning to have this one circumsized, too, but as it turned out he was born with a "natural circumcision"... which I had never heard of but basically means his foreskin was malformed in such a way that he didn't have foreskin on the tip. So he got to skip the drama
  • Ugh this glute pain that won't go away no matter what I do or take! Hate having to take a bath at 1am to try and ease it enough to sleep!

@Backbypopulardemand Hope you are feeling better!  I think our due dates were a day or so apart and I've also noticed a lot of my baths are now middle of the night affairs. I'm calling it a pregnancy thing no one warns you about- the need to soak your sore ass at 1-3am
edited to add not necessarily literal ass, although it could be
  • This morning I learned that a Charley horse leg cramp that starts in your calf can, in fact, spread up your leg all the way to your hip and butt.  Cool.

  • My b!tch is that I am mkre swollen 7 days after birth than I was prior to birth. My feet and hands hurt.
  • Finally moving in today, since after 7 months of FIL saying almost done with helping with our renovations. But moving with a 2 week old and EBF while she's still in the cluster feeding stage should be interesting. Grateful for FIL but he pushed us off for so long and then when baby was born they got jealous that we were staying with my parents so they rushed to finish so we would be back to being 10 minutes away from them.

My official bitch is that I have zero patience for his mom trying to compete to be the best grandparents because my parents aren't like that at all.
  • @onesassybishh yay happy moving day though ! It will be nice for you to be back in your own pace! Hope it all goes well!

Boyfriends mom called me again yesterday and woke me up... except it was at 10:30. She was calling to see if we wanted to come over tonight for dinner. She knows that I'm not driving and Phillip has to work... UGH!!
  • I'm just in a terrible mood today.  It's so hot that I can't stand it.  All i can do is sit here under a fan because the A/C won't keep up with the 100+ temps outside.  And to make it worse we're due for another week straight of the same heat, no rain or break in sight.  Hell, a small part of me is wanting to go into labor so that I can enjoy the coldness of the hospital. (only a small part.  I mostly am just ready to be done). I'm having some nesting tendencies today but I'm ignoring my urges and organize so I can stay cool.  DH keeps saying it's not that hot, it's just me and that really makes things worse.

  • @setosh I don't answer the phone if I consider it bedtime, whether or not I am asleep. I don't want to encourage them to call at that time again. Actually, on my iPhone, I have set do not disturb hours so it won't even vibrate or ring but I can see in the morning who attempted to call. You can pick "favorites" to still get through (DH, my mom, etc. people that if they are calling then I want to talk to or really have something important to say).

  • My bitch is the post labor hemorrhoids... holy shit! Lol after 4hrs of pushing in my few hemorrhoids turned into an entire city of them. I was given ointment and cold packs but they are just so bad right now. Sitting is a nightmare. I'm sure the 3 episiotomys didn't help either.
  • setoshsetosh member
@whataboutscience thankfully my phone was on silent, but since I get up every 30 mins to pee at night I noticed she called. Had him check his phone and she called twice so I thought it was important. Obviously not. But thank you! I will look into that because people have started to call me everyday asking about the baby.
  • I'm going to give myself a black eye with these giant knockers... Hello milk!
  • @AshGee18 hemorrhoids and engorgement are definitely the worst postpartum symptoms
in my book!!!! If I didn't have those I swear I'd be recovered in like 2 days.
  • @samantha1206 omg I am going through the same thing right now. Its so hot that I've pretty much been trying to sleep all day and be awake while its cooler at night. Sadly, being in an apartment means I can't do a whole lot at night like vacuuming or rearranging. I want to clean so badly but its just so damn hot and the little ac unit we have can't get it below 80 or 85 in here during the day.
  • Just got home from our trip to visit my parents who live 6-7 hours away. The trip ended up taking about 8 hours because of construction. Thankfully LO is in there good and tight because having to deliver in ND would have been a nightmare. I'm so glad to be home and can't wait to sleep in my own bed!

  • @afaddis89 that's round about what it is in here. I finally bitched enough that my hubby got a window unit and put it in the living room. It's a lot cooler in here now. I just hope it holds up. Definitely counting down until fall. This Heat ain't no joke
