LO with Laryngomalacia

My sweet two week old was just diagnosed with Lrnygomalacia (floppy vocal box). We knew from day one her cry has not right, very squeaky and very noisy breather but when she began to have chest retractions too, we were sent to an ENT who diagnosed her. Good news is most children grow out if it and do not need surgery. As a new mama though, I am still scared she could stop breathing and although I hope know one on this thread have dealt with this before, if you have share your experience, tips.

  • I don't have any experience with this, but I am sorry you have to deal with it. I hope someone can help you!

  • So sorry!  That must make it hard to ever stop watching and making sure LO is breathing.  Hang in there.

  • Aw just the thought of that squeaky cry makes me sad for you! I hope you can find some peace with her breathing and not worry more than you need to. Glad it sounds pretty "normal" and something they can grow out of. Good luck!
  • I'm sorry your LO has this. I don't have experience with it but I can relate to worrying about the breathing. We are currently in the NICU so the monitors are here but I worry about when we go home. I'm afraid we will stare at her all day and night. We are actually debating on buying the Owlet monitor.

  • @MamaBish I was just going to ask if y'all have looked into that to relieve some stress. (Can't recommend because I don't have any experience with it, but I've seen it a lot lately.)
  • @MamaBish we are debating getting the owlet also. After looking at Henry's monitors the last 11weeks in the NICU it is going to be hard not knowing how he's doing.

Thank you!! We ordered the owelet yesterday. Im hoping it will bring peace of mind!
  • My SO and I didn't buy the owlet for our baby but I know people who did and loved it. We bought the Snuza Hero and it's awesome. Definitely gives me peace of mind at night when SO is working and I'm home alone with our daughter. Definitely worth getting!!
  • @Kalexm no experience here either, but I'll say a prayer for you and your little one!

  • I just wanted to say that my nephew had this (pretty bad) but outgrew it by the time he was about 6 months old. He's 3 now and is a happy, healthy little boy!
