Oh, surprise.

So. Went for my first appointment/US this morning. 



Andddd nearly fell off the table.

I am so scared. I know this is exciting news, but right now I'm terrified. This is so... unexpected. 

So, in addition to airing my emotional laundry, I'm posting because I could really use some direction. Any book or website recommendations, please. I need to get some education. I think focusing on learning all the things will help me calm down/wrap my head around the fact that I'm carrying 8 limbs.

No help here, but congrats! I can't imagine the mixed bag of emotions you probably feel right now, but try to focus on the exciting things.

Awww, congratulations. How exciting!! I'm no help with books or advice but I'm happy for you. Now I'm thinking about your top u were wearing the other day... it could have said "red, white, and double due" lol haha of course I'm thrilled with 1 baby, but I can't imagine what I would've done if I found out I were having twins. Good luck!!!

Congratulations!  Breathe!   My twins are 7 now, and I remember the feeling well of that first ultrasound.   When I was pregnant,  the multiples board here was really active and that helped but I don't know if they still are.   I read a bunch of books,  most of them were not helpful.  

I don't have any idea how these boards work if there are notifications or anything,  but I would be happy to answer any questions I can.   For now,  I will tell you its a lot like having 1.5 babies. If you change one,  you change two, if you are making one bottle, just make two.   Plan to get a good stroller if you ever plan to leave the house.   Eat as much as you can,  drink a lot of water.  Know that you will get bigger faster, but your body knows how to adjust.

I literally said "holy shit" on the US table and started crying.

The cute news is:
I had to convince my husband to go for #3 (we have a 5-year old and an 18-mo) and I thought he'd have a really horrible reaction. Not that he's prone, I'm just hormonal. But we got home and he just pulled me off the bed and put on "La Vie en Rose" and danced with me.

Awww congrats!! I think I would have had the same exact reaction upon seeing the ultrasound.

Congratulations!!!! I think that's a 100% normal reaction and you will adjust to the idea as you prepare for the babies. I'm excited for you!

Congratulations! One of my best friends has identical twin girls and I always tell her how effortless she makes it all look. She found a group of multiple moms in her area online and picked their brain for advice and then eventually found a routine that worked for her.

Wowza! How exciting! My advice is to get plugged into a community for multiples. Once you find out if they're di/di, mo/di, or mo/mo you will have a good deal of info to sort through. Did they give any indication at the u/s? I am not sure when/how they are able to classsify just that the classification is a big deal. Good luck! CONGRATS!

@heatsparks I keep coming into your post so I can see the sono again!  I am so excited for you and I am sure you will do great!  You should go back to your sister (or was it SIL) who make the red, white, and due shirt and tell her she made a mistake on the shirt and that it should have said red, white, and due with 2!!!

Wow, that's exciting!  I bet it's nerve wracking as well.  A friend had twins and she's very plugged in to different Facebook groups for parents of multiples, I think it helps a lot to have that support.

And now you get to do another announcement!  There should have been more little feet on your shirt!  You know what, I thought you looked so fit and well rested in that picture that this was your first baby.  Ha!
