Trouble TTC

Hi! Introduction

Hello everyone,

I'm here after TTC for nearly 2 years.  I thought I could use some support.  DH and I have been married for 5 years,  I'm 31 and he's 33.

So far we've done all the testing and everything is coming back normal.  Had my HSG yesterday and since everything came back fine they told us to keep trying.  It's getting overly frustrating watching all my friends and relatives have no issues.  So I thought I could use some support and positivity in my life and here I am!
Me: 31
DH: 33
Married 6.18.2011 <3
September 2014 started TTC
dx:  unexplained
7.16 HSG normal
Considering changing doctors because of the length of time

  • Welcome! It can be so frustrating to be diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I'm surprised your doctor didn't give you any more options...  When we were diagnosed with unexplained IF, my Dr. said we would only have about a 3% chance of conceiving on our own, and started making some recommendations for us.

If you not content to wait, I would get a second opinion. Are you working with an RE or OB?

  •  Have you been using OPK's or charting BBT to know if your timing has been good?
I would suggest getting a referral to an RE, if you feel like you want a more aggressive treatment plan.

  • Definitely see another doc. 2 years ttc with well timed sex and no success is not normal and you should be taken seriously and given some treatment options. Good luck with everything and keep us posted!
TTC since May 2015 with domestic partner of 13 years. Me 33 OH 33.  No ovulation or natural menstruation. Normal SA.
    Diagnosed PCOS February 2016
    First cycle 50mg Clomid 5/3/16, O'd CD 19 BFN
    Second cycle 50mg Clomid 6/1/16 O'd CD 18 BFN
    Third cycle Clomid 6/29/16 O'd CD 16 BFP @11dpo!
EDD April 3 and praying things work out!
  • I third the recommendation to see an RE since its been 2 years. An HSG isn't the only test you'll need, and, unfortunately, a normal HSG doesn't mean you don't have any problems, it just means your tubes are open and your uterus looks good. Your doctor should do a hormone panel and your H should have a semen analysis.
  • Hormone panel and SA all came back good too.  We've been undergoing testing since October.

  • You've had all the testing, time to see a specialist!  I am just getting started with the specialist process, currently I am taking Clomid with my OBGYN and I have  consult scheduled with an RE.  If you can't see an RE right now for financial reasons try another OBGYN.  Like I said earlier, you deserve to be heard.  Just because infertility is unexplained doesn't mean there isn't something wrong, it just means that they haven't figured it out yet.

  • Thanks for the advice! DH and I are going to do our research and schedule a consult with a RE to figure out some new options.   We're not getting any younger here and it's been a long road so far.

  • Hi @NikkiPSU and welcome. So sorry for your struggles. My DH and I are the same age as you and yours, we've been off BC since 10/13 and we're also a version of unexplained. After my MC I magically stopped ovulating, but the doctors have no idea why so they have just chalked it up to stress. I'm sort of anti-meds, for right now at least, because I want to figure out why my body isn't doing what it's supposed to. We're currently going on 12 months post loss and plan to give it til September also so it looks like we may be on similar timelines! Best of luck to you!!
