Everyone share your favorite podcasts to listen, pregnancy related or not!
My fav pregnancy related is
"The Birth Hour" - tons and tons of birth stories. I also listen to a lot of doula podcasts, some which are directed towards the business and logistics of doula-ing, but some go over different birthing techniques. Spinning babies, hypnobirthing, Bradley method and all sorts of things. They are a great resource as a doula an momma!
Non-pregnancy related I have:
- All of Gimlet Media productions (marry me, Alex Blumberg)- Reply All, Start Up, Surprisingly Awesome, Mystery Show, Sampler, and I can't wait for Science Vs.
- A lot of NPR- Serial (obviously), This American Life, Invisibilia, Hidden Brain, Radiolab, Planet Money.
- Hardcore History (I have to be in the mood though)
- Limetown (new episodes, please?)
- Breakdown (pretty good Serial copycat)
- Medical related: Sawbones: A Marital Tour of Misguided Medicine, and This Won't Hurt a Bit (ER docs host- it is very informative and hilarious)
- Lexicon Valley - Great show about the English language!
- I am a Biologist so... TWIV, TWIM, TWIP
- Freakanomics
- Criminal (episodes are actually really varied, and Phoebe Judge's voice is so soothing! There was an episode on courthouse illustrators- great listen!)
- Stuff You Should Know
- All the Books! - they go over newly released books every week. A fun listen, but my Good Reads list is a mile long now!
- Still Buffering - Just a fun podcast where sisters from different generations talk about the difference between teens now and then
- Beat Infertility- What it says
- Theology for the Rest of Us- Christian theology podcast
Phew! That's a lot (I know). I listen to podcasts almost all day at work unless I am doing something that requires calculating.

My favorite podcast is called Lore. It goes into the history behind different legends and mythical creates like vampires, changelings, etc...
I was really into one called Sword and Scale for a while. It's similar to Criminal in that it's about crimes but it's longer and usually about more serious crimes. I listened to one highly disturbing episode about a month ago and I haven't listened to another pod cast since and it still kind of freaks me out. I usually am really into this kind of stuff, I love true crime and usually the more gruesome the better so as a warning if this podcast says it's disturbing and may cause nightmares/nausea it means it.

(Formerly Marriedhamstermom Feb ‘17)
serial - because duh everyone does
guys we fucked - the anti-slut shaming podcast
modern love - which is usually a sobfest
my H does a music podcast - 12 for a penny - to be honest I've never listened to it because I don't need 45 minutes a week of listening him talk to his friends, but other people super like it apparently
Dear Sugar - writerly and compassionate advice on love and life from Cheryl Strayed and Steve Allman
Radiolab - The Best Podcast Ever (Colors is my favorite episode of anything ever)
Radiolab Presents: More Perfect - a miniseries on landmark cases in the Supreme Court
The Longest Shortest Time - different topics on parenting
New York Magazine's Sex Lives - funny and frank discussions on various sex-related topics
Vulture TV Podcast - discusses TV and pop culture
Love & Radio - can be touch and go, but some episodes are amazing (The Living Room and Dirty Balloons are my favorites)
Embedded - Kelly McEvers from All Things Considered does a deep take on one story per episode

Respectful Parenting: Janet Lansbury Unruffled -- just so incredibly useful and insightful. How to help your kids, especially babies and toddlers, instead of getting locked in a battle of wills with them. I also like her facebook page and blog. The podcasts are usually no more than 15 minutes and are perfect little bite-sized brush-ups on getting through this parenting gig without losing your cool.
Another Round with Heben & Tracy -- two intelligent, compassionate, take-no-shit, funny black women talking about stupid stuff and important stuff and then telling corny jokes.
Rose Buddies -- a married couple breaks down episodes of the Bachelor and the Bachelorette. I started watching Bachelor last year because a friend was on the show and it's just so crazy...I love how this podcast talks about the show.
SOME EPISODES:
Radiolab -- science is amazing. these guys are so good at telling these stories. I think I'm just a tinge burnt out on this show because I've listened to it for YEARS, but it is SO VERY GOOD.
This American Life -- Again, I used to be a devoted listener and now it's more of a "when I'm in the mood" thing. Top notch, must-try show.
Dear Sugar Radio -- The only reason I don't listen to every episode is that I can't always handle the topics and all the emotions. But, wow, this is an amazing advice show. Compassionate, open, straight-forward, and literary.
For pregnancy, I found an older show called Pregtastic. Some of the new gear recommendations are no longer new, but I love the format and also they interview some very interesting people. The breastfeeding episode was very enlightening!
Other than that, I'm an extremely boring finance nerd... So I listen to the aforementioned Dave Ramsey Show, and The Money Show with Paula Pant. I love her blog, as she is also a landlord/travel lover!
I usually listen to audio books with audiobooks.com but I go through one in a few weeks and then have nothing to listen to until the next month. I'll admit I've never really listened to podcasts before but all these suggestions are awesome! No more boring car rides
