Isn't way too early to feel baby move?

  • Just laying on the couch this morning, watching my bump move all around. It's crazy to think the baby is big enough to show so such movement.

I can almost always tell where his butt is at in my bump too. He likes to sleep with it out, sometimes to the point where it looks crazy and makes me sore. I can't imagine how this will feel over the next 20 weeks!
  • 19 wk 4 days and can I just say it is CRAZY how quickly the strength of baby is picking up? Movements went from little bubbles and taps to some serious kicks! I apparently make this crazy expression because it really startles me every time! DH has already felt quite a few kicks and commented on how much stronger they were than he imagined. I said "And that's from the outside-imagine how it feels to me!" My favorite part of the day is laying down before bed with my hands on my belly feeling little one having a dance party. :)
  • 18+3 here and I'm pretty sure I started feeling some sporadic movement a few weeks ago. It was mostly that bubbly sensation others have described.

But the past day or 2 I'm pretty sure I've felt some movement from the outside. Kind of like twitches in my lower abdomen. I don't think they're strong enough to actually see, but my husband was also just able to feel it. I'm assuming it's the baby - not sure what else it would be. And if so he/she is having a little party in there right now.
  • I think this baby is secretly a ninja. She kicks so hard lately! 19w4d and I feel like I did when DD was 24+weeks!

  • Does anyone else get almost a quivering sensation sometimes? I feel very distinct kicks, but I also sometimes feel what I can only describe as quivering or a slight shaking. I started to hypothesize that it's baby moving around and displacing amniotic fluid, which is causing the sensation and it's not actually that baby is making physical contact with anything. Is that ridiculous or even possible? I'm just not sure what else it could be because it doesn't feel like a distinct movement the way a kick does.
  • @LoneStar21416 I have also felt a quivering... Your theory sounds possible. I'm just so happy to be feeling her. It's the best feeling ever.

  • It's crazy how strong baby's movements are getting compared to just last week. Kicks are now starting to feel like the baby is jumping up and down (I guess that is why some people describe it like a roller coaster feeling). I'm annoyed with baby, though, because whenever I put my hand where the kicks are, he stops! And as soon as I take my hand away, he kicks again. I love that the strength has picked up, though.
  • Last night the baby was moving like crazy when I went to bed. I actually managed to catch a kick on my phone. I sent it to DH and I think he's watched it about 382612 times. It's crazy to think how big he is in there.

Am I the only one who can feel the baby in a little ball sometimes? Like he'll literally be in a ball in one spot and I can feel all around him. I always giggle that his little butt is sticking out. It's so weird.
  • @christac1010 I started getting the "ball" feeling recently too! I noticed it for the first time last Tuesday while laying in bed and I think we made the same joke about it being his butt up in the air hahaha. It's such a weird feeling but it's so adorable!
  • DH felt the baby move tonight!! She must be getting bigger and stronger, the last 2 two days I've felt so much more movement. It's such an amazing feeling, DH started tearing up when he felt her, I can't wait to see them together!

    I'm 17wks2days.
  • I'm starting to wonder if I have an anterior placenta or something this time. I'm going a little nuts!  18 weeks, third time mom, and I have maybe felt a few little pokes randomly.  What gives?!
  • We have started calling our little one ninja baby because of the crazy intense kicks! Last night DH had his hand resting on my bump and got kicked so hard he jerked his hand away. He stares at my stomach and says "The baby did that!?" Ha! Who else would it be? I blame DH's years of martial arts training.
  • @ashleysparkle720 If you want a giggle, next time you're at the library check out the picture book Ninja Baby by David Zeltser. Hilarious!

Haha!! This made me laugh! My husband hasn't been able to feel the baby yet (he/she goes quiet when his hand is on my belly.) But I tried to explain I had one pretty strong kick yesterday that made me jump!

I'm in the same boat. I was over the moon because I got a puny kick today at lunch.

  • I still can't feel baby A except for a few little twitches here and there, but B is a maniac and rarely stops moving! I can't feel her from the outside yet but last week she felt like an eyelid twitch, except in my belly for 4 days straight. This week I'm definitely feeling distinct kicks and rolls
  • @TinaBelcher That is so cool that you can tell which baby is moving.  <3 and here I am, playing 50/50 if it's baby or gas.

  • So anyone else have a SUPER mellow baby that just doesn't move much? I was super surprised to find out yesterday that I don't have an anterior placenta...I thought for sure I did with how little I'm feeling at 20weeks with my 5th! Through the whole ultrasound he hardly moved at all, just stretched his legs a couple times and that was it...

  • I felt bubbles today! But again without a light up sign saying yes I just assume it's gas lol
  • @mommywesley definitely, baby A is so chill during ultrasounds, she typically just waves her hands a little and just hangs out!
  • @mommywesley My mom was telling me that my little brother hardly ever moved (her 3rd pregnancy and child). She couldn't even do the "kick counts" in the third trimester, because she felt him move so rarely.

  • @mommywesley my kids have been movers but my BFF had to have weekly non-stress tests done her entire 3rd trimester because her baby was so chill that she couldn't ever do kick counts and he didn't really move during sonos either. He's almost 2 now and is literally the most laid back kid I've ever met!
  • Good to know! Maybe we'll have a laid back kiddo...but with 4 older brothers I doubt it, I'm sure his brothers will quickly knock it out of him!

  • @mommywesley haha maybe he just knows mama needs a break with 5 kids and he'll be super calm! PS I've been dying to see if baby 5 would break your trend or keep it going!
  • @mommywesley my first was a non-kicker. It was very scary to be honest. At the end, I was going for NSTs constantly. Now she is a non-sleeper. I guess she was resting for life.
  • So I've started to feel this weird feeling throughout the day, almost like the baby jumping in there. I finally just put together that this might be his little hiccups. Has anyone else felt hiccups yet? Or do any STMs know the feeling?
  • @christac1010 I haven't felt hiccups yet with this baby, but with I was pregnant with DD she got hiccups all the time. For me, it felt like a slow and rhythmic tapping in the same spot for like 5 minutes at a time.  DD was head down by the time I felt them, so I remember feeling them on the lower left side of my abdomen.

I'm right along with you ladies. Not showing yet, barely any movements and definitely nothing you could feel externally. I'm 18w yesterday and was really looking forward to popping out early since it's my second. My cousin is 3 weeks behind me and is huge and feeling outside kicks already and I was healthier than she was pre-pregnancy--also her second. I know every woman is different but I just want to feel something and fit into clothes. Lol
  • Yesterday I was laying on the couch and felt really quick movements, like fast pulsing for a good 15-20 seconds consistently. I thought it was just feeling one of my arteries pulsing. ... but then it stopped!! If that was the baby it felt like some kind of flash dance in my uterus! Lol...

  • This kid is making me laugh so hard. So apparently he really enjoys his roomy uterus and does not appreciate any restrictions. Pant buttons, seat belts, hands. Anything exerting a constant pressure is getting relentlessly ninja kicked until it is removed. Which is why I have come home with unbuttoned pants twice now. Looks like I'm going back to all skirts all the time.
  • @BAJDesigns My baby does it too! I have a 35 minute commute filled with relentless kicking. The seatbeat isn't even tight. He also kicks at the Snoogle during the night if I try to sleep on the closed side. I don't know what he's going to do when he runs out of room in there! I'm glad I'm not alone though!
  • @christac1010 and @BAJdesigns
Mine is the same!! If I'm bent over or have anything tight on I get kicks!! Or if Im on my side asleep and move too far forward to where I'm slightly on my front the baby starts kicking the bed!

  • Yep, tight stuff makes him kick. Also the flutters I was feeling from before was really the baby, now that he kicks strongly I can tell.
  • So I've started to feel this weird feeling throughout the day, almost like the baby jumping in there. I finally just put together that this might be his little hiccups. Has anyone else felt hiccups yet? Or do any STMs know the feeling?
The only way I've been able to tell hiccups from kicks is just rhythm/frequency and location. It tends to be little outbursts that last 5-10 minutes and usually happen every 5-30 seconds with a really similar pattern to them and they stay about the same strength each time too.
  • I had my first kick to the bottom of my ribs yesterday. I know it's going to get way, way stronger and more uncomfortable, but that is definitely a weird feeling.
  • @mommywesley I'm so glad I'm not alone. I'm 20w today and hardly feel anything. I know he's moving because he kicks and brushes against the doppler but it would be so much more reassuring if he threw in a strong, noticeable kick once and awhile.
  • @loveinak I fully expect (could be wrong lol) that you and I will be laughing at ourselves in a couple months when our babies won't let us sleep because of the constant hard kicks...;)
