  • @vssbrm I will only be on this 1st trimester for three more days i think and then moving to second trimester can't wait.

  • @ultratomato that is so exciting!

My EDD is March 8. I go in for my second beta tomorrow and then my third should be Thursday or Friday. Excited and nervous, hoping for good numbers.

QOTW: We haven't really told anyone yet so I haven't gotten any annoying advice yet haha. I have been extremely open about our journey though, so a lot of people are asking when we will find out and so I have been lying lol. The only people that know are a few of my fellow IVF friends that have been checking in on me.

  • I think the most annoying thing is people telling me that all the things I want to do or try will go completely out the window once I'm in labor or have the baby. For example, telling me that once the baby is here, cloth diapering will be too hard- or to wait a few months to start. Or once I go into labor that I'll want/need the epidural. Or that breastfeeding is really hard and that be ready to switch to formula. This is going to sound very judgmental (maybe because it is?) But I think I hear it from moms who feel bad about themselves because they didn't cloth diaper when they said they wanted to, or had the epidural when they wanted the unmedicated birth. I know I have no idea what to expect or how hard it will be but I wish they'd at least support me in my ideals. Sorry, rant over.

  • @susykat77 yes!! My mother is a very healthy, all natural sort of person and is super supportive of how I want to have my pregnancy, labor, breastfeeding, etc (discussed before I even got pregnant). On my husbands side, not so much. I always used to assume I would do an epidural, but a very dear friend of mine who is also my yoga teacher recently gave birth to a beautiful baby at home, drug free. She wrote an amazing blog post about it. A home birth is not something I would feel comfortable with, but she inspired me to attempt as natural of a birth as possible. When I mention that to family and friends on my husbands side, I hear "oh you may think that, until you're in labor, then you're going to want an epidural." Well, maybe, but maybe not and I feel like your desires should be supported by family. So i totally get where you're coming from!

Happy 4th! I am 6 weeks, 2 days and yesterday I had my first "morning sickness." Really it was afternoon sickness blah! I got sick twice and then literally took a three hour nap, I have never been so tired! It was so crazy. I am hoping I have no nausea today so I can enjoy our fourth of July BBQ!

Anyone else have nausea/morning sickness and have any tips?

This weds is our first ultrasound (still with RE) so I am really excited for that! What questions should I ask the RE vs the OB?

QOTW: Haven't gotten any bad advice or anything yet! I am definitely waiting for it though ;).

  • This is my last check in here. Moving on to second trimester in a couple days. No advice but this past weekend we saw a lot of my parents friends and one of them grabbed and touched my stomach. It made me feel really uncomfortable since I don't have a bump yet. But I'm lactose intolerant and still eat dairy so I get very bloated and gassy. She basically touched me when I was gassy. Lol  Like can you not? Thanks. Ugh some people.
  • @vssbrm can I join you all?  I had my second beta on Saturday and my first ultrasound with the RE is Friday.  My EDD is March 2! So excited to graduate from the IF boards, but still very nervous that it could all go wrong. Only symptom so far is being very tired, but not being able to sleep well during the night.

QOTW: I have told my close coworkers, but none of them have kids, so not advice there! And I think my mom knows better.

    @mjacks16 welcome!!

@ultratomato congrats on graduating! I will see you in one more week!

@susykat77 that is my biggest pet-peeve right now. Just because you did or did not do something does not mean I will find that that works best for my baby.

@chicandbubbly ginger ale, ginger candy, multiple small meals through out the day, apples really do wonders, eat right away after waking up... That's what worked for me.

@Drove2u congrats on graduating!! I will see you in a little over a week! I love that someone grabbed your gassy belly thinking it was baby. I have nightmares about people I don't know touching my bump (when it actually turns into a bump).

Hope everyone had a great safe holiday!

  • Happy Tuesday all!

@chicandbubbly Ginger ale and saltines ALL THE TIME for me. I've heard that candied ginger can help as well, haven't gotten to the store to pick any up yet. I've been adding a bit of Gatorade to my water and I take lots of sips throughout the day which seems to help.

QOTW: My MIL is convinced we are going to have a girl. After I expressed that we would like to have a boy first (but obviously will be thrilled with either,) she still insisted, and said via text "well, you just remember this conversation when we find out." I just think it's rude to keep insisting after I've expressed a preference, especially since there's no way for you to know at this point.

I think the best piece of advice I've gotten is to leave crackers by the bed, and before you even stand up, eat a few. I tend to be sick more in the evenings than in the mornings, but for those queasy days, crackers are the best.

  • Good morning!

@vssbrm @ultratomato @Drove2u Congrats on your upcoming graduations to the 2nd tri! So exciting!

@msirni0 I love your EDD, but mainly because that's my wedding anniversary

@vssbrm I'd be happy to take the lead, but I will only have 1 week left in the 1st tri after you. If you want me to do it for 1 weeks, let me know. But then we'll need someone else to take over. I also looked around on the January BMB and couldn't bring myself to join them. You're right, so much judging and complaining that it's too much for me. Being here is so much better!

QOTW - I haven't really gotten any advice since we only told immediate family and my best friend. However, my MIL is ready to put me in a bubble so I don't hurt myself until I give birth. The day we told them, we went for a morning bike ride and then she berated me and DH for even getting on a bike because I could have fallen off. She said I have to be extra careful and not any crazy activities. She couldn't let it go for like an hour and I found it highly amusing. I know she means well, but she's so overprotective. I definitely think my in-laws will have plenty of "advice" in months to come.

Hey ladies! I fell of the face of the earth for a minute there. My nausea got the best of me and I literally stayed in bed for my entire holiday weekend. I feel like I have a permanent hangover. I hate to complain because I did so much to get here..... but I need to go to bed and wake up 5 weeks from now when I don't feel so gross all the time (hopefully!).

I had my 2nd ultrasound yesterday. Baby #2 didn't make it  But baby #1 is "perfect" (says the RE). Measuring right on schedule with a FHR of 143. We saw teeny tiny arm and leg buds

QOTW: My husband and I have been very open with our friends, family, and even some close co-workers, about the IF process. So a lot of people knew very early on, but there hasn't been any public announcements. While I know the general rule is to wait until the end of your first trimester, it is also a personal choice. Well, I told one co-worker whose response was "Shouldn't you be careful how many people you tell?" That made me furious! How about you let me make my own decisions about my announcement. On the positive side, I have so many friends that have already done this and are so happy that it finally worked for us, I'm getting a ridiculous amount of hand-me-down maternity clothes and baby stuff :sunglasses:

@vssbrm Congrats on graduating! I would take over this thread but I have been so sick that I am literally not a functioning human being. So I haven't been on here much. If no one else volunteers let me know! I did join my birth month and have not been back since the first day. Those people are a$$holes. I think I'll stay on this board.

@Drove2u YES! My mother ALWAYS wants to rub my stomach. MOM! I'm not even 8 weeks yet! You're rubbing my constipated belly! Plus I'm not a very touchy-feely person and I am going to hate when people want to rub me all the time. Ick. And congrats on graduating!!!!!!

@chicandbubbly Good luck at your appointment today! I have seriously been so unbelievably nauseated all day, every day. No vomiting though. I'll literally lock jaw for most of the day because vomiting is my least favorite thing to do... Mostly because it's always violent. But it is affecting my ability to eat anything nutritious. I'm not even able to drink much water. I tried all of the home remedies: preggie pops, sour candy, lemonade, ginger ale, ginger tea, small meals, plain foods. Nothing has worked. My RE prescribed me diclegis. I just started last night and I think it needs time to build up in your system so I'll let you know how it works.

    @mjacks16 Welcome!!!

@dragonfaerie I've been keeping a box of cheerios (I prefer apple cinnamon) on my night stand. It doesn't make the nausea go away completely, but it helps a little not to have a completely empty stomach. I need things with flavors so plain crackers weren't working for me.

@ultratomato Such a cute announcement! Congrats on graduating! Fx I'll see you there in 5 weeks!

  • The appointment went really well! Yes, it was my first ultrasound. Saw baby and a flicker of a heartbeat that was 124. Everything measured on track. My official due date is 2/25/17.

There was a little pocket of blood (I think it was an SCH) that the RE saw which was strange because I hadn't had any bleeding or spotting. However last night a few hours after my appointment I started bleeding. It's not heavy or anything but it has been going on since last night around 9. It is really freaking me out.

  • @chicandbubbly That is very strange, but I've heard of spotting after u/s since with the internal ones they get all up in there. Is it an actual flow, or still just spotting? I would go ahead and call them if it still going on.

  • Just wanted to update you all: I spoke to my nurse twice this morning (who also confirmed with my RE) that the odds are the bleeding is fine. On the ultrasound we saw a small pouch of blood, the RE called it a SCH (subchorionic hematoma)sp? And she said it's likely that causing the bleeding or could have been from the transvaginal ultrasound. I have to monitor the bleeding and take it easy today. If I need to I will go in for another ultrasound tomorrow.
