First trip without baby?!

my husband and I are going to Napa for 5 days next week without Graham.... Part of me is excited to get a much needed break, but part of me is worried about leaving him and knows I'm going to miss him like crazy! Both our moms are coming in to stay with him so he should be okay, but I'm still freaking out a bit! Any tips? Has anyone been on a more than one night trip away from baby yet??

I made a list of "rules" and guidelines that we will all laugh about one day, but it made me feel better! Haha

We just did this! We spent 5 days, 4 nights in Costa Rica. LO spent much needed quality time with my mom and dad. They live far from us and don't get to see her often. I put my mom on speakerphone every night when we talk and LO knows her voice. It was super reassuring when we arrived and she recognized my mom's voice. I cried on the way to the airport and DH and I missed her tremendously the entire week. I text my mom every couple hours and checked in on her. It was pretty rough for us but LO had a wonderful time! And of course the grandparents had a blast. It was nice getting quality time with DH since we don't go out much on our own but like I said, we did miss her a ton. I'd recommend keeping as close to your baby's usual schedule and being around familiar toys /blankets. Good luck and have fun!

Ugh I just scheduled our first trip without LO. Its not until late October and I'm already stressing. We're going to Texas for a wedding, and I finally decided it would be best for everyone, especially LO to leave her home with my mom. We  have to take an overnight flight and I just don't want her schedule interrupted like that. Plus we will be in Spain for 2 weeks in September and that's a lot of travel for LO. I just hope her sleeping and eating is more under control by then! We just started introducing solids, and she doesn't want anything to do with it. Plus she's not taking a bottle while I'm at work. :( Which is a very new and surprising thing
  • I'll be following this thread for any tips. I have a little more lee-way as DH will be home.  I leave August 18th for a wedding in Costa Rica. By myself, without DH or DS. It's all inclusive and it'll be with my MOH from my wedding and a few mutual friends of ours that are in the wedding party.  I am pretty excited, but nervous as well, even though DH will be home with baby.

@fishee333 In regards to the bottle rejection, could be Leap 5. Check out Wonder Weeks if you're unfamiliar. Leap 5 suggests that LO's could be eating less and un interested in food. Could be why.  Also, some women on my FB group who are breastfeeding but beginning to introduce bottles now, because they are starting to ween, found that even though bottles weren't working out well, they tried a sippy cup and for whatever reason, LO took to the sippy cup versus a bottle.  That may be worth trying too.

TEN DAYS in Costa Rica starting Sunday. Guys. It's a hot mess. My mom is coming for the first 4 days. Then his mom and sis for 3 days. They're  driving 8 hours back to Ohio where I'll be flying in to meet them all for some time back home. So I'm packing for CR, my bag for home, her bag for home, a list of all her crap that she needs, and writing out tips for helping everyone survive without me. My brain hurts now....
  • Thanks! Hopefully it's just a phase (or leap 5)... tried a sippy cup today and that didn't work.  :(
  • SO and I have talked about the beach but we didn't want to bring LO.. I refused to leave him over night...
    No vay-cay for me..
LO co-sleeps, he's still waking up through the night and my parents are deaf and I'm just nervous to leave him over night just yet- until he can sleep through the night and sleep solo.
  • @fishee333 Bummer! LO won't take a sippy either. I mean, he isn't rejecting a bottle, but I thought for sure he'd have no issues with the cup.  Hope it gets better for you soon!
