  • No words yet. He has a lot of letter sounds down and will make all sorts of noises, but hasn't quite put them together to form any words such as; "mama, dada, or even baba." I say "Hi" to him all of the time.  At his 6 month check up, the Pedi. was sure he repeated Hi, when i said it to him, so she wrote it down on his chart that he's starting to say things. I kind of heard it, but didn't chalk it up to much.  I hope we get a few things out of him in this next month or so.

My little guy says ma ma frequently for the past couple of weeks but he's just making noise I'm certain he still has no clue what he's saying he's just started learning to make the B sound so he's been messing around with that recently but no da da yet! He's making all kinds of cool sounds recently though. It's really exciting to hear him making the sound ma ma and think that one day he will say it as an actual word with a meaning!
  • Mine says mama but not directed at me yet I don't think! Just kind of says it when he's babbling. The other day we told him to say mama and he did repeat it a few times! Can't wait until he associates it with me!
  • Dada first mama a week later - just babbling though, she doesn't know what they mean.  And yes lots of cradle cap- it had went away and returned with a vengeance.   Six months this Monday.
  • She doesn't really sound any words out. Mostly oohs and ahhhs and cooing still

LO is only making a pterodactyl screech right now lol he does babble but nothing coherent. We still have some cradle cap too.
That was the exact word I used to describe LOs noises to my husband the other day! That and sometimes the babbling is like the Swedish chef from the muppets. Other than those noises she does boo-boo-boo and makes a mmmm sound but not ma.

Yesterday I just noticed the cradle cap is back.

DS discovered screeching a couple weeks ago.  Super fun!  :). He's not really saying anything that sounds like words yet. He still has bits of cradle cap lingering as well.
  • My LO sounds like a Kung-Fu growl. Kind of a very intense "Arrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhh."
As far as cradle cap--we didn't have it when she was born, but she had a ton of hair then. Now she's lost all her hair on the sides, and has it pretty bad. The daycare told me that baby oil, coconut oil, and selsun blue work. (Don't think I'll use that last one for a while.)
  • Lots of shrieking going on here. We started using Eucerin baby shampoo/wash and that had really helped his cradle cap. A friend of mine's pedi had told her to use head and shoulders shampoo for cradle cap. It was too harsh and made her baby's hair fall out.

  • I read something about developmentally the D sound comes first. If you make the motions for D and M sound it makes sense.
I think mine are saying hey! Lol

Two years, two losses and three IUIs...

  • I third the pterodactyl screech! But we're finally having more babbling to go along with the screeches.
And yes, we're still fighting the cradle cap. DD has a TON of hair, and it's been hard to get out.

I've totally been calling Brynlee a pterodactyl for a while. Just this week she has started saying both mama and dada, surprisingly clear. I even took a video. It's funny, she primarily says mama when she's upset and babbles all day about dada when she's happy.
Edit: phone posted without the last few words.
  • My LO has been sounding like Tarzan. No mama or Dada, but it sounds like she is saying hi! She has been super talkative these past few days, I don't know what's going on with her but it's super cute.
  • Lots of sounds but no words. At this point her first word will be "Elmo". We don't allow screen time but she's become enamoured with Elmo because we have a tickle me Elmo she can't get enough of. Now she loves him, in all shapes and sizes. Mama and Dada are pretty much mud to her.
  • First, my baby made this funny, throaty sound. Then, raspberries. Then, gah-gah-gah. Then, da-da. I just read in "What to Expect....  The First Year" (month 7), that babies will typically make the dada sound first bc it is easier than ma-ma, which comes later.  I'm still waiting for regular belly laughs! She is so stingy with those!
  • Ahh I cant waittt for her to say something!!! So jealous!
