NEWCOMERS:
To be added to the Weekly Checkin, please answer the following:
1. How long have you been TTC?
2. What is your diagnosis?
3. What is your current Rx plan?
QOTW: Do you prefer sweet or salty snack foods?
Re: TTTC Checkin 6/29/2016
I'm really, really excited that we have our protocol, and I have my next two appointments booked! I go in for baseline ultrasound on 7/7, and that is also the last day I take my BCPs. We start injections on 7/11, and my first monitoring appointment (ultrasound and blood work) is on 7/15. My med protocol is follistim (225 iu), menopur, ganirelix, and ovidrel trigger. Starting with follistim and menopur (mixed into one shot), then will add ganirelix when needed (also mixed into one shot) then ovidrel when my follies are ready. The nurse said my egg retrieval will be the week of 7/18! My mom booked a one way flight here for the 14th so that she can be here for my egg retrieval, so I'm really happy about that!
The nurse said that my FET will likely be toward the end of August (we're doing PGS testing). I'm so excited!
QOTW: Salty, unless it's fruit!
Me: 34, DH: 38 ~ TTC since 2014
IUI #1-3 (Nov 2015, Feb 2016, May 2016) = BFNs

FET #2 (April 2019) = BFN

Feeling good now that we at least have a plan in place and are taking steps forward.
@wifeinraleigh28 Good luck! Fx your IFV is successful.
@JDW0325 Congrats on your BFP!
QOTW: I prefer salty snacks (I could probably eat a bag of pretzels or chex mix in one sitting if I let myself)

I'm currently on day 6 of my stims (Gonal and Menopur). We had a monitoring appointment this morning and we already have about 5-10 follicles measuring above 11 and a few were already 13 & 14!
Nurse just called and we start Cetrotide tonight and add a little more Menopur. They expect me to trigger this weekend and our egg retrieval will be early next week. I'm very thankful that things are going so well so far.
Snacks- Depends on my mood, right not I would shank someone for some pretzels or chips.

@hoffmanr7 I'm so glad your initial appointment with your GYN went well!
@Tulips29 Congrats on your BFP! (also ice cream is my weakness)
@worldtravler0522 FX for your IVF cycle!
It's CD 5 for me today. Started gonal-f on Monday evening. I wasn't afraid of it, needles don't bother me, but I was still apprehensive about it... but it was nothing. I didn't feel a thing. And I think my DH is enjoying stabbing me every night with the pen. Our plan is to do IUI this cycle if everything lines up.
QOTW: Do you prefer sweet or salty snack foods?
I like when the flavours are together. Salted dark chocolate. The best. Chicago mix popcorn. drooling. salted caramel. seriously.

1. We've been trying on and off TTC#1 since about September 2014.
2. No diagnosis - RE says things look all within normal limits, I guess only factor would be my age, I'm 40 and will be 41 in November.
3. This is my first cycle of taking Clomid.
Wishing everyone lots of luck!!!
Edit - forgot to answer the snack of choice question - It just totally depends on my mood, sometimes I can't have one without the other.
Husband: 40
TTC#1 since 9/2014
Unexplained Infertility - Trying naturally
I am 11dpiui and just feeling really moody I get aggrivated so quick I hate it on top of all the other medication side effects
hope everyone has a great week!
QOTW: Salty !!
Question: Is there any cheat sheet amongst the boards that explains the different medications and what they are used for?
QOTW: Salty all the way. It is not good for my diet to keep any kind of chips in the house, tortilla chips especially though.
Fur babies: Yeti (cat)

@harleyquinn7161 keep up hope!
@worldtraveler0522 Good luck with IVF, glad you aren't having too many side effects!
@wifeinraleigh28 I'm happy that you are moving forward.
@starlight811 I have never had my hygienist check my blood pressure before, its good thing they did so you can report it to your RE!
I'm changing my Clomid protocol to CD 3-7 this cycle with permission from my doc to see if I can move my O date up a couple days. AF was still light and short this cycle but my doc was not concerned. Another thing, I am really tired of going to acupuncture. As much as I love it, it is one more thing on my plate. If I don't get a BFP this cycle I am going to take an indefinite break. So starting Clomid tonight and that's it for me!
QOTW- Both! Although since I started the PCOS diet I haven't had as many sweets. I was eating a lot of skittles before the PCOS diet.
Third cycle Clomid 6/29/16 O'd CD 16 BFP @11dpo!
EDD April 3 and praying things work out!
I'm still having a lot of cramping so I'm hoping that goes away by tomorrow.
Surgery Dec 2016: submucosal fibroid removed
Awaiting RE appointment
QOTW - depends on my mood, my favorite salty snack is a handful of pepitas (pumpkin seeds) or some kale chips if I have time to make them, Oh and edamame with sea salt... yum! If I need a sweet snack, it's usually juice or chocolate.
@wifeinraleigh28 This has been a long road of waiting for you, I'm glad you have a timeline in place! FX this process is successful for you!
@Tulips29 congrats!!!
@Plainjanie good luck with your IUI!

@Tulips29 That's amazing that you had your first OB appointment! What a milestone to graduate from the RE to the OB, like coming full circle hahaha. How did your appointment go?
@ReesaAnne16 I'm sorry you're back to WTO, this whole process is so draining. We don't even *try* naturally anymore when we have a break in treatments. I honestly think it's better for my mental health to not even think about it or track my cycle at all. August will be here before you know it! Do you already have appointments booked?
@harleyquinn0621 GL with your testing soon!! I hope your IUI is successful!

AFM I'm gonna join the crew that's stuck in waiting. I'm on cd26, had almost all the signs of O on cd20; +OPK, EWCM, cervix changes but still no temp shift so it's looking like another anovulatory cycle for me. I was really hoping that diet and exercise changes would help me ovulate right away but I suppose like with everything else in this journey patience is key so I've decided to give it three cycles. If I'm still not ovulating on my own by September I'll go back on meds. I hate meds, ugh
Snacks: I love it all!! Some of my pre-diet favs include grapenut ice cream (DH thinks that the only ppl who eat it are me and his gramma) and trail mix (roasted nuts, dried cranberries and dark chocolate....O.M.G.) For the past thirty days my favorite snacks have been caramel rice cakes with peanut butter and gluten free coconut, oat and dark chocolate granola bars.

@hoffmanr7 Glad your first appointment went well! Good luck with the upcoming tests!

@jennh75b Welcome, I hope your stay here is short & sweet!
@Starlight811 Good luck on your upcoming beta, I hope it brings good news!
@MandyBeeSLP I hate all the waiting too
@Ducks&Cats Best of luck this cycle, I definitely understand wanting to take a break. It's important to take care of yourself, and this journey can be so draining. I also hope that you get good news about your sister soon.
@jmr1515 Yay, glad the HSG was all clear! Good luck with your next steps!
@ReesaAnne16 Best of luck to you with your upcoming IUI, I really hope it will be the answer for you!
@SoonToBeMommaHowe Sorry to hear this cycle looks anovulatory. But I think that's great that you're focusing on staying healthy with diet and exercise! I have been so bad about exercise lately...I agree that meds are no fun. I hope next cycle brings good news!

I actually just got my diagnosis of PCOS yesterday morning.
Honestly a little overwhelmed at this point. I am calling my doctor today to see what meds / treatment options he recommends.
QOTW: It really depends on my mood. Sometimes I want salty and other times I prefer sweet.
@wifeinraleigh28 I know, it's so odd. OB is totally different. We get spoiled by our RE's with constant appointments and monitoring, ultrasounds and followups. It's really nice. Totally not the same at the OB. But I guess I have to forget how spoiled I got and get used to things being different now lol. How exciting that you're less than 2 weeks away from starting stimms! I hope everything goes smoothly for you!

Also, no mood issues so I am happy about that. I'm a little irritated that the HCG takes 14 days to leave my system so I can't take an at home test until the 8th. I'm having trouble being very optimistic, though I don't have a reason not to be yet...
@wifeinraleigh28 That is so awesome you're mom is coming down!! What an awesome support system you have!!
@Tulips29 Congrats on your BFP!!!
@HarleyQuinn7161 Hoping you have a great day and result Tuesday!!!
@jennh75b Welcome to the club! I hope your stay is short!!
@Starlight811 Hoping tomorrow or 7/2 you find a good reason for those mood swings!!
@Ducks&Cats How are you liking the PCOS diet? I've seen a lot of recipes on Pinterest lately for it.
@Plainjanie So brave to let your DH help with shots!! lol Mine was too excited about it so I told him I needed to do it myself
@meli123k Hoping IUI#3 works so you don't even have to worry about feeling uneasy with IVF!
QOTW: I'm all over the board with snacks. Love sweet foods, like anything peanut butter related or strawberries with nutella. But I have been craving soft pretzels with cheese badly for like a week now!! Which I'm never usually interested in..But I also really love sweet and salty together..chicago mix popcorn, popcorn with m&ms...lol I've been pretty good about healthy snacking lately though!

@meli123k I was in the same boat as you in regards to my feelings on IVF. Before we went to the RE I told DH I'd never do it and after we started IUI I reidierated my feelings on no IVF because I didn't think I could handle it. When IUI was off the table for us I just knew IVF was where we were needing to go and it's amazing how quick my feelings changed. Like a previous poster said it seems so scary and overwhelming but I am amazed by what science can do. While I wish I could have conceived on my own there's a reason I'm on this path and I'm happy I'm on it. Good luck with the IUI, hopefully you don't even need to consider next steps!

Lots learned my first go round. OBGYN added estradiol this cycle to help with how badly the clomid thinned my lining last time. I really think I ovulated a lot later than they thought so I ordered some tests to help me this time since the hormones have my temps all outta whack. I'm going to have to do my blood work over again because even though my progesterone level was 13.something, since I was using my essential oil supplement (which the nurse had said was ok) my OBGYN wants to make sure I ovulated and it wasn't a false positive based on the supplement. Lots of frustration between talking to the triage nurses and them getting all my meds wrong and reading me another person's test results for a test I didn't have done. OBGYN was very apologetic and gave me her nurse's name and extension so I don't have to deal with triage anymore. I go in Wednesday (CD 9) for a sono to check lining and follies. Trying hard not to be frustrated - especially considering I'm just starting and how much many of you have gone through. I thought I had handled everything so well that I just skipped the "why me" stage- two friend's pregnancy announcements and another friend's birth within 10 days of each other later- I hadn't skipped it - it was just delayed. Just trying to give myself space and grace and think positive thoughts!

June 2016- 50mg generic clomid CDs 5-9 w/TI | 2 follies (14 & 12), thin (2.45) lining | BFN
July 2016- 1mg estradiol CDs 1-7, 50mg generic clomid CDs 5-9 w/TI | 2 follies (14 & 10), thin (~4) lining | BFN
August 2016- 1mg estradiol CDs 1-7, 50mg generic clomid CDs 5-9 w/TI | BFN | Referred to specialist, visited once, was told we have less than a 3% chance even on medication, recommended to IUI for up to a 50% chance, decided not to pursue at this time | Stopped "trying"
October 2016- We became licensed foster parents
November 9, 2016- Arrival of DD#1, 4yo
March 1, 2017- 1 day late, feel like crap (low fever & exhausted) | Mom suggested test before taking meds, I laughed but did it anyway | BFP! *shock*
@summerbrooke13it must be frustrating that you're having symptoms that are likely trigger shot related. FX for you this cycle! In my experience, the creamy CM appears post ovulation, and the watery or eggwhite is a few days before and the day of.
@Starlight811 I'm so sorry for the BFN this month, thinking of you

Just heard from my DH that his brother & his wife are expecting. I'm really happy for them because they really deserve it. It's just hard to hear knowing we can't join them with good news yet. He was going to tell them about our struggles today when he saw them but felt that it wasn't the right time, which makes me sad for him too because I know he could use his family's support right now too.
A girl I work with also just had her baby today. Great timing! It's all too much for an overly emotional cycle day 1 anyways.
@wifeinraleigh28 - congratulations on getting started on your IVF cycle!!
@plainjanie - it would really surprise me if my husband ended up "enjoying" stabbing me with needles! part of me would probably be so proud of him if he did haha.
@harleyquinn0621 - fingers crossed for your blood draw next week! Keep your hopes up!
@MandyBeeSLP
@ReesaAnne16
- I feel like I'm just waiting waiting waiting too. My appointment with the RE isn't until September and we've pretty much given up on "trying" to conceive naturally until then. It's been nice to stop obsessing about tracking my cycle, but I still find I'm waiting and waiting and trying to be hopeful regardless.
@ducks&cats - my period is super short and light too and I always wonder if it means something…
@meli123k - sorry about the negative. Hopefully the RE eases some of your worries about IVF and helps you and your DH decide if it's the route you want to go or not!
@Starlight811 - sorry about the negative =(

@ReesaAnne16 Sorry you have to be stuck waiting.
meli123k I also thought I would never consider IVF but am now looking forward to the opportunity if we need it. The IVF threads on the Infertility board are a wealth of information and those ladies are amazing with each other. I think it really helps to read about experiences and see how other women power through the setbacks, the meds/injections, ER's, and transfers, etc.
SummerBrooke13 Good luck in your tww. I think CM is supposed to change to just "not fertile". So anything but EW and watery is normal.
Kay6519 Sorry for your PCOS diagnosis. FX for a successful treatment plan!
