A great cloth diaper safe cream is equal parts coconut oil and Shea butter. I buy both on Amazon. I add a few drops of lavender oil to it as well. Much cheaper than buying the stuff and the lavender is anti-fungal.
I can't use bleach because we have hard water, which causes bleach to leave rust stains:( I also can't do extra rinses because of the minerals in the water.
I disinfected with hydrogen peroxide and borax for 8 hours, and now I am washing the diapers in that solution plus detergent. I'll hang them to dry tomorrow and wait for a good sunny day to sun bleach them, after which I plan to wash them again the same way.
I think that might be the best I can do. But with the coconut/Shea butter ointment hopefully it won't come back?
Very much looking forward to moving to soft water land....
