Im 17 weeks. In my private scan (yes i cheated this time) I wanted to know what I was having. 3 boys was hoping this last one was a girl. Bam yes! But we also discovered that I have an anterior placenta in this scan and that i could "rest easy" because this was the reason I havent felt anything yet. I have always felt flutters at 12 weeks and on but i feel NOTHING and its bumming me out. I want that bonding time. Any experiences?  When did you feel movement?  Did you feel less "harsh" movement in elbows and knees?  I know this is a minor thing to complain about since everyone is healthy but I'm still bummed.

I have an AP and started feeling unmistakable movement right at 19 weeks. I'm just about 23 weeks now and feel lots of movement daily but I can't see movement from the outside and can't always feel it from the outside either. DH still hasn't felt any kicks.

  • I've felt a couple nudges from Baby B in the last week or so (20 weeks) and his placenta is anterior. Nothing compared to the amount of movement I'm feeling from Baby A who has a posterior placenta though. Hopefully you feel her soon!

I was just told today that i have an anterior placenta, but i havent had any problems feeling kicks starting at about week 19. Im 20 and 3 days and have felt them for almost two weeks now, but over the past 2 days they have gotten really strong so that theres no doubt that they are kicks! My husband even felt a handful last night for the first time. His face was priceless. I was at the midwife today and she started kicking at the doppler, like directly kicking it. Was funny :) i think you only need to wait about two more weeks and then you will start feeling them as strongly as everyone else!

I had an anterior placenta with DS and just found out today that this pregnancy is posterior. I am
noticing a HUGE difference. Definite movement at 16/17 weeks this time. I felt movement REALLY late last pregnancy, well after 20 weeks and nothing that I could definitely assign to baby until 25 weeks or so.

  • I had anterior placenta last time and it was confirmed that I have it again this time around. I will be 20 weeks tomorrow and I've been feeling little bits of movement on occasion for a couple of weeks now. Last time around, I felt strong kicks around 23/24 weeks. It sucks but I'm sure you will appreciate the little buffer when you are farther along. :)

  • This is my second anterior placenta, I've started to feel some flutters the last two weeks(17 weeks now). My first was one too. Soon enough they'll be jabbing you in organs and you feel it for sure! I actually preferred it, because my other two were harder to fall asleep with because my stomach was wiggly. It was hard on both DH though, since he could barely feel a kick.
  • 19 weeks 4 days here. FTM with a posterior placenta. Still nothing!! I'm beginning to get really impatient and a little sad that baby is taking his/her sweet time (I suppose LO is taking after DH in that way

This is my third and I started feeling baby at 17 1/2 weeks. (I don't know know where the placenta is.) My feelings are more pressure on one side of uterus rather than flutters. You can get different types of movement based on what baby is doing.
Congrats on the girl!! I too have been waiting on baby girl, for me since before DS1. I am hoping that #3 will be a girl. More of a balance of estrogen in my house, please!!
  • Thank you for this post!!!! 19w1d and NOTHING! STILL! I'm actually started to freak out a bit.

  • I guess I'm the spechul snowflake. I started feeling flutters around 16 weeks and full on kicks for the last 2-3 weeks (I'm 21 weeks today) and I found out at my anatomy scan 2 weeks ago that I have an anterior placenta as well. A couple days ago babyfish kicked my home doppler and yesterday morning babyfish was kicking DH's hand pretty solidly. I was surprised when my OB said that I had an anterior placenta because she was actually telling me it was OK if I didn't feel anything yet because of it.
  • ORIGINAL POSTER HERE AND WE HAVE MOVEMENT! Ijust turned 19 weeks. Little bumbs but nothing like my other 3 pregnancies. Not as much and not as strong. But i feel her once or twice a day! Hang in there ladies.

My first pregnancy I had an anterior placenta- like completely. Baby was breech too. I didn't really feel constant movement until about 25ish weeks. It stunk! This pregnancy I have both an anterior and posterior placenta and I've def felt movement much early... Sometimes I miss having the anterior placenta!

20w/1d here - anterior placenta- still no movement :( I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm a FTM too, so even if there has been little "flutters" i have no idea because i dont know what I'm looking for. It's a bummer, and it gives me anxiety thinking something is wrong.
  • I don't even know what kind of placenta I have - and sometimes it feels like movement but then I don't really know what it feels like. Our clinicians are chill about it and say I don't have to count until third trimester. So I'm not worried given that I'm still nauseous almost daily.
  • Update: I am now 22 weeks with an anterior placenta and I've been feeling tons of movement this past week, especially after a meal or if I'm just sitting quietly. I am also able to see kicks on the outside. It's pretty cool. :)

  • YAY! That is my timem right when and after I'm eating she's like "Wooo bring it!"
