So today I decided that my last day is going to be July 6th (and I'm taking off on the 1st)!! Woo hoo - only 9 more days of work until I'm outta here until 2017!!!!!!!!
Nice! As far as I know, I will be working up until I go into labor. Hopefully, if all goes as planned, I will not be coming back after the baby is born though.
Tentatively scheduled last day for Aug 18th (edd 8/28). But since I'm not returning to work after baby is born, I'm trying to get my replacement fully trained a week before that.
Oooof! Do your states not give you time off before your due dates??? NJ gives 4 weeks prior to EDD, which is technically July 14th, but I figured out how to extend it a bit based on my C-section date plus a few personal days that I'll accrue on 7/1 that I have to take or lose (ummm yeah, I'll be taking those, thanks).
Whenever I go in to labor (hopefully that's what happens and I don't have a RCS!) I could take two weeks prior to baby arriving, but that would count against my FMLA following baby arrival.
Also, I just accepted a new role in my company that I'm super excited about and I start July 11th so I want to get as many days in with the role and the new team before I'm out!
I work from home, so definitely working all the way up to the last day unfortunately. I only have 6 weeks of leave, so I want to squeeze every last bit into baby bonding time!
I'll work until I go into labor, but I'll probably start working from home about two weeks before my due date. I did that last time, mostly because I work with a bunch of men who aren't fathers and who were/are freaked out by me being in the office so close to "go time"
mmclark10 Yeah, my 4 weeks prior will count against my FMLA, but after my 8 weeks of disability after baby NJFLA kicks in and if I still have FMLA left they'll overlap - so dumb. So no matter what, I only get 20 weeks after LO is born regardless
if I take the full 4 weeks before or not, so I figure why not take as
much as I can get. The only time it would suck is if I went past my due date, so that was a risk I took with DD - I ended up having my c-section a week early, so my FMLA and NJFLA did overlap by a week. But this time I know at the very latest my c-section will be 8/5, so I'm not worried about it. We get so little in this country, might as well take what we are entitled to!
I will be induced on Aug 12 so I am going off July 26th, so I will have around 3 weeks before baby comes. Last time I was put off work on the 6th, induced on the 9th and had her the 11th and I wanted a little bit of a break before this time. But..Cdn...so I get 1 year.
Tomorrow is my last day! Mainly because I only work one day a week, and with my kids being out of school it's easier for me to just be home with them anyway
When my contractions are 4 minutes apart or my water breaks. My doctor gave me the go ahead to work through most of my labor since I have a desk job and I'm closer to the hospital at work than at home. I work with all men and they're very freaked out about my plan but... Meh? I don't want to cut into my maternity leave.
Planning to work until I go into labor. If I go past my EDD, I might start cutting my hours or working from home. No paid maternity leave so I'm trying to save my PTO hours and FLMA for after baby comes.
Leaving work 2 weeks before my due date. It can't come soon enough and I'm secretly hoping that something will happen where I'll have an excuse to just wrap this up sooner. Obviously nothing serious that could hurt me or the baby, but I dunno... some kind of mild ailment that my doctor could write me a note for?
Up until I go into labor. But I work part time, and half of my job is in a school, so right now I'm only working about 8 hrs/week. I'll be squishing all of that into 1 day/week starting in August, so it's very unlikely I'll go into labor at my office.
I'm due on 8-14, and depending on whether or not I'm induced, I plan to work up until 8-11. I can only afford to take 8 weeks off, so I want to work as right up close to my due date so I can spend more time with Baby Boy after he arrives.
With DS I was due on a Wednesday and would have been induced the following Wednesday. I told my team I was going to make that Friday my last day. I am also due on a Wednesday with this one so I may due something similar if there is a plan to induce. But I plan to work up until I go into labor.
Me (32) DH (34) | | BFP #1 4/5/12 | Natural m/c on 4/18/12 (6w1d) BFP #2 8/23/12 | DS born 5/3/13 BFP #3 12/6/15 | DD born 8/23/16 BFP #4 2/22/19 | EDD 10/28/19
I get off my last 12 hour shift the morning of August 9th for an August 14th due date. This should be interesting!! :-D
I'm not griping, I'm the one that decided I was willing to attempt this. If LO comes late, I don't want to cut into my 12 weeks. (I could probably take more - but don't want to put further strain on my coworkers.)
Another mom working up until I go into labor! With DS, I was due on a Saturday and worked that Friday. (He was actually a day late and was born that Sunday.) I get 12 weeks total regardless of when I start, and I want as much time with the baby as possible. I am already feeling pressure to take less than 12, but that isn't happening. I want that time with the baby.

C-section scheduled for 8/4, and currently planning to work until midday 8/3. Definitely considering starting to work from home for the week or so before.
Whenever I feel I can't work my 20 hours a week anymore. I don't have benefits with my current job, so it's all unpaid and I don't have any other income coming in during this time. My job will be there after i return, just not sure how many weeks that will be...
I know how miserable I was at the very end with my last baby. My job is even more strenuous now than it was back then. I was in so much pain in my pelvic area that it was hard to even walk, so my last day was based on how many days before my due date I stopped working with him.
I had no idea so many ppl didn't have an option to take off before and NOT have it cut into your maternity leave time. So unfair! I guess that's a major positive about NJ's leave laws - my 4 weeks before won't cut into my time after birth at all. I'm already having a hard time being comfortable sitting all day, I can't imagine going to my due date. We need serious reform!
I am on the boat of working until "whenever my Little One shows up."
How did you all select your last day, if you selected one?
Stuck in the box....I selected my last day based on 4 weeks before my EDD plus several personal days that I have to use or lose that I won't actually accrue until July 1st.
We were due 8/9,... but the C date is 8/4 (If he doesn't come on his own). We are forced to use 160hrs of our own time before the birth to qualify for the 6 or 8 wks of disability leave...so July 4th is my last day. It's such an antiquated system.
I'm planning to work until I go into labor. I don't want to cut into time off with the baby and I think I'll need the work time to wrap up before going out anyway.
I think my last day will be July 26. Edd August 21. My date selection was based upon the baseball team being out of town until August 18, (they are here aug 6-8 if I'm still feeling ok I'll work then) I'm nervous about working that close to my due date. I work an hour from home and the hospital I'm delivering at is 30 min farther from home.
Hoping to to not return until December 1. My company does monthly schedules
We only get fmla for 6 weeks regular birth or 8 weeks with c section...don't get any extra time off before baby arrives unless we use pto or vacation time...which I've been using toward my doc appointments. So I plan on working right up until unless something comes up I plan on using vacation time first then fmla...nys stinks when it comes to fmla
I work from home and will work up until delivery day. I could technically take some of my leave before baby arrives, but that would take away from the time I have once the baby comes and I definitely don't want that.

How is that possible?? FMLA is 12 weeks, your company doesn't dictate that, the government does.
wish I lived in NJ! 4 weeks before due date! I only have FMLA which gives 12 weeks. I only have about 4 weeks of built up vacation and sick time - so one month guarentteed pay. My company also allows others to donate sick time to me, but no more than 6 weeks... so if I am lucky I can have about 10 out of the 12 weeks paid.... so I will be working until I go into labor.

Same here. Hopefully I continue to feel okay until she arrives so I won't have to eat up my sick time and FMLA prior to her arrival.
I have 6 weeks at 60% prior to birth, but only if there is a medical indicator. Unfortunately there is, so it looks like I will be going out sometime around July 1 - maybe a little earlier.
The crappy part is my husband is still not working, so the money we had saved to cover the last 3 weeks of my check we'll need to fill in the 40% for 6 weeks - and may end up needing to ask my parents for a little help, unless DH gets some work. (Luckily, I have been the primary bread winner the last few years, and carry all of both of our insurance since our wedding.)
The great part is this will not impact my 8 weeks at 100% (with a one week elimination) post partum. Our maternity and STD policies are separate. The insurance company even said for multiple issues, I can use multiple STD (6 @60%) so lets say I go out for my gallbladder and at 7 weeks still haven't delivered, but the doctors don't want me working because I am 39 weeks pregnant - The doctors can write me out due to the "illness" of pregnancy, and the 6 @ 60 starts over. And my bosses have told me not to worry about the legality of FMLA - they will make sure the higher ups don't term me until I am able to come back so I can use as much of the insurance as I need, and my job will be waiting when I get back, regardless if it is 6 weeks or 20. So a bunch of positivity!

I'm grateful I felt well enough to do that and i think i would've gone crazy waiting for baby to come. Especially when i went overdue.
