1. I have my post partum checkup this morning. I am excited to be cleared for exercise! I can't wait to run, and practice/teach hot yoga again!!!
2. I've been kind of in a self loathing phase.. feeling lots of negativity about my post partum body. I was excited that I would be recovering during the summer months, but now I just feel flabby and out of shape. I know it will get better but I want to feel fit and healthy again. Like yesterday.
3. Daycare update: DD did really well on her first day at school. She cried in the am (normal) and by the time I picked her up, she ran away from me and played with her new friends. Phew. Happy mama
@Jenly17 I'm so glad that your daughter likes school! I'm right there with you on #2. I'm right in that in between phase where I have that little stomach flab above my scar that looks like I stuck a short stack of pancakes on my lower abs. Plus, my thighs are still out of control.
1. DS2's lip tie is taken care of! His tongue tie was clipped a bit more too because the pediatrician who did it at birth didn't release it as much as she could have. His latch is so much better already and he slept better last night after being able to move more milk, but he is not a fan of me having to rub it a few times per day. 2. Our township is doing a touch-a-truck event for kids to meet emergency responders and see/touch the vehicles. DS1 loves firetrucks, so I'm really excited for this! 3. I can't get over how fast my boys are growing. I'm totally going to be that short, Italian mama surrounded by tall guys when they're older. DH is very tall, DS1 is already 37" as of his 2yr check up and DS2 was measured at 24.5 " yesterday. At this rate, they'll be even with me before they're out of grade school!
1. My mom, brother, and sister are finally able to get down this week to meet the baby and I'm pretty excited. DH not so much bc he hates having people stay over, but oh well. It means extra help for me bc they'll be here and now he's taking off next Monday and Tuesday. 2. Someone has discovered their hands this morning. I had noticed after giving LO his pacifier that he had been quiet awhile and he usually loses it pretty quickly. He was calmly sucking away on his hand when I came back. However it now seems like he prefers that. 3. My mom said she'd buy me one big thing for the baby while she's here so I'm going to see if I can get her to get me the Tula I want. I have a K'Tan but trying out another structured carrier it seems like LO prefers that more. Scoping out patterns now to pick one I want.
1. I've had a couple of really good EBFing days, boobs get full but not engorged and not painful like before. LO has been draining one really well at each feed. Really hoping this is my body regulating itself after a few freak outs.
2. LO has also been amazing at eating and sleeping at night. Pretty sure he recognizes day and night now. All of this is really helping me enjoy time with him on ML and really truly feel more love than I have ever felt in my life.
3. This brings to the fact that I have a little over 5 weeks left with him and I want to cry. I'm going to miss always being around my nugget I'm starting to really enjoy it and my ML is halfway done. The thought of putting him in daycare breaks my heart.
1. Pollie slept eight hours straight last night and seven the night before that, I don't remember the last time I slept that much and am hoping it continues! 2. I had read on my unions website, where my short term disability info is, that if you had a c-section you get eight weeks paid instead of six. Talked with somewhere there yesterday and they said that's not the case, it's six either way unless dr says otherwise. I'm hoping my doctor can find some little thing because I was really hoping for eight 3. I dint think Pollie will ever outgrow her newborn clothes, she's nine pounds at five weeks but all 0-3 are way too big. So she has a full closet and dresser of summer clothes she may not fit into for quite some time
1.) Cole's new favorite sound to make is "G'UH" and he makes this sound from sun up to sun down during our conversations.
2.) We are taking him on a 12 hour road trip next Tuesday and I am so nervous for the drive. We will obviously be stopping frequently to get him out of the car seat, but I am worried he will hate the car seat after the trip.
3.) I have finally gotten the motivation back to start exercising. I am adding yoga and hiking back to my routine!
1. So my city is literally burning because of protest action. Luckily we don't need to leave the house, but it's still very scary!! Does anyone in the US or Europe want to adopt two twenty-somethings and a baby? Haha.
2. We took Alex out for his first socials last week and he was so well behaved. All the friends just loved him. Surprisingly the boys are all very baby-obsessed now!
3. Alex's expressions are the cutest! Can't believe that babies are so full of personality at 5 weeks or less even!!
@Jenly17 I'm so glad that your daughter likes school! I'm right there with you on #2. I'm right in that in between phase where I have that little stomach flab above my scar that looks like I stuck a short stack of pancakes on my lower abs. Plus, my thighs are still out of control.

@kbrands7 and @jenly17 with you on the body image. I have started slow at the gym with the elliptical and light weights, but I know the running is where it is at. I am just scared.. scared of the soreness, peeing myself, seeing how far I have fallen, etc.... Oh well, I will go look at that precious baby that makes every negative thought in my head disappear!!
@kbrands 7 - so pumped the tie is taken care of! I noticed sleep being better that first night too! It helped with the second stretch for us!
@That1didntcount Yes! I'm glad that you're seeing improvement too! I was excited that he actually drained the boobs down at 4am and slept again until morning. Usually he clusterfeeds from then on because he gets sleepy and just gives up only to try again in 30min.
1. Add me to the negative self talk as far as my body goes. I'm 6 weeks pp but my appt isnt until next Tuesday. I'm probably going to start running before that.
2. We had a major thunderstorm last night & Jack didnt even flinch. My dog however was out of her bed and into mine without her feet even touching the floor. It reminded me that the 4th of July is around the corner ... dog owner's least favorite holiday.
3. Yesterday I was rocking in the nursery with a sleeping baby cuddled on my chest & I realized I was happier than I've ever been in life. Love this kid so much.
Add me to the body hating group please! This will definitely sound like a poor little rich girl thing, but I've always been naturally slim and even tended towards disordered eating so it's hard for me to not have the body I'm used to. 1. Ezra took a four hour nap yesterday and after I'd cleaned the house, watched to, folded the laundry, and exercised I really missed him. I sat in his room and read my book and waiting until he woke up. 2. I have no clue how to get Ezra on a schedule. I've been letting him just sort of run his own day and I can usually count on an AM nap but his bedtime is all over the map. I don't know if a schedule is even valuable at this age. 3. Our dog basically barks if someone breathes near our front door and it echoes in the house. I'm crazy thankful that the barking doesn't wake up the baby but it gives me such a headache every day!
1. DS was being a diva this morning, and wouldn't let me eat breakfast until 10:45, so I had a piece of chocolate cake. It was amazing with my coffee.
2. Speaking of coffee, I thought the caffeine affected DS, but it turns out that my morning coffee just coordinated with his morning fussy time/witching hour. I skipped the coffee for a few days, and there was no change. I had a afternoon cup for a couple of days, and he went to sleep afterwards with no problem.
3. My 95 year old grandmother had a bad fall yesterday and ended up with a contusion on her head and lots of bruising. She's always been in great health until she fell a few months ago and never fully recovered. This is hard on my family, especially my mom and her 4 siblings.
Married: May 2012 DS1: May 2016 DS2: Jan 2019 Baby #3 EDD: 6/18/24
1. My DH watched LO from 10:30 to midnight last night because my back hurt. At 2:30, I told him the dogs needed to go outside and he said he was too tired. Okayyyy. 2. I've been reading books like crazy, and I know I'll miss it so much when I go back to work. 3. Thinking about extending my ML from 12 to 16 weeks. I need to look at the numbers, but I don't think I'll be ready to go back just yet.
@Jenly17 Yay for DD liking school! The morning drop off is so difficult when they cry. Makes me want to just take her and run lol.
1. Scrambling mentally on something to do with DD when she wakes up from her nap. 2. I DESPERATELY want a tan. I feel better about myself when I'm tan bc my motto is tan fat looks better than white fat (on me at least). 3. I'm getting so excited about mine and DH's Guns N Roses date night at the beginning of July. I've fan girl'd out and got an Axl tshirt to wear like the dork I am.
Been married since 2009. Unicornuate Uterus (yes I menstruate glitter) Several MCs DD born 2013 (our miracle "you can't have babies" baby!)
1.Clara is growing so much! 2.My sister had a baby boy at 35.5weeks! Surprise! We are road-tripping to meet him on Thursday! 3.My body image: this weight would come off much more easily if I didn't eat so much! So hungry!
Mama to Three Girls: Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!
1. For anyone who can't afford the Bellefit, those really tight old navy running compression pants pulled up as far as you can get them to go do make a difference in your lower abs. In three days, the pooch is distinctively less obvious...I mean, it's still there, but it, like, sort of hangs flatter.
2. I want to move out of this house and town so badly. DH is finally on board with me about moving to a slightly more rural area outside of the metroplex, but he says he wants to move to the actual country, not just a smaller town. I grew up in the actual country...they make you deal with the local wildlife on your own there. No thanks, I'd rather live close enough to my neighbors that I can get someone else to deal with the occasional snake/possum/coyote/whatever when DH isn't home. They're bad enough in the suburbs where I live right now...
3. Still too paranoid to leave the house with DD on my own. I'm desperate to get out, but she hasn't had her shots yet, I can't see her/immediately reach her in the car seat from the driver's seat (safely, anyway), and I'm terrified that once I do get out, some predator is going to try to take her from me. How do the rest of you guys do it? I can't keep ordering stuff all the time. I can't even bring myself to take a walk around the block with her in the stroller. I mean, it's way too hot to do that anyway, but that's not the point.
@Jenly17 I am having a hard time with my PP body too. I am below my pre-pregnancy weight, but the skin on my stomach is flabby and I want to cry every time I see myself naked.
@dsmith211 I have the K'tan too but have been thinking about getting another kind of carrier as well. I want something little more airy. The K'tan gets a little warm!
@That1didntcount What exercises did they give you? Care to share? I have it, but I don't see my doctor for another almost three weeks. I'd like to know some exercises I can do now!
1. DS is in the process of waking up, it's almost time for him to eat again.
2. DS has only been waking me up about 3 times a night, and the third time is usually around time to wake up so I don't know if I can really count that.
3. I am so jealous of people who say their baby is already only waking up once a night, or sleeping for 6-7 hours at a time. Lucky!!

I felt the same way, here are some things that helped me out: 1. I'm EBFing so I imagined a little force field around my baby full of my antibodies he gets when he eats. Those protected him from the germs in the air. 2. Whenever we went in public I would carry him instead of leaving him in the car seat or stroller. It's much harder for strangers to touch your baby without your permission. 3. Driving alone was hard for me for the exact same reason you described! Watching him in the backseat while DH drove gave me confidence that he wasn't going to roll his head and choke and die while I was listening to NPR. Also remember- you can pull over! Ezra started crying while we were driving to the library and I pulled over and literally sat in the backseat holding my baby until he felt ready to go.
as for someone snatching your baby, it's actually extremely rare for a child to be kidnapped by a stranger. It accounts for about 1% of all kidnappings. So don't worry, your baby is safe. try a quick walk around your block! It'll be good for you and for baby

I have two so I am more paranoid about the circus show that would be on full display with an energetic toddler and hold me in arms and breastfeed me lap nap baby.
However when I just had one I also wasn't too thrilled about going out alone. I always wore baby to help prevent people touching. As far as the car I had a large mirror there so I could always see baby, bought a thermometer to put back there so I could check temp (it gets above the 100's in the summer here and there are not vents in the back) and I would sit in back with baby any chance I had if I wasn't alone. And also the play gym came with something like a crib soother with music and simple lights. I made an area where that could safety be and that helped some too sometimes to distract baby.
1. It is 3 pm and all I have had is a larabar because baby doesn't want to be sat down. My toddler has had wonderful meals though I don't know how it works but I can fix toddler meals easily but not my own.
#2 The only thing I really want is jalapeño chips. Lots of them. Bags of them. With plain iced black tea. Lots of it. Lots of ice. Oh and peaches. But fresh peaches at the top ripe of summer perfection. Nothing else will do. We don't have those here and I would have to drive 30 minutes away (15 there, 15 back) to the fruit stand with a toddler and infant in 100+ temps to get them. No thanks. That price isn't worth it to me. I don't foresee getting any of my favorite fruit this season unless I can get someone else to get them for me. Maybe I should call them and see if they will start to do delivery.
3. Ok, so I want some bagels too. From a certain bagel place downtown that has the best bagels. To get them would mean an hour of driving (30 there, 30 back) with toddler and infant in 100+ degree temps. I think I will pass. However I am sensing a theme. I think I need more food. I am going to try to get something more substantial than a larabar to eat...
@AdorkablePixie so you have diastasis too? Ugh the worst! Mainly just pelvic tilts on my back and on exercise ball, working on balance standing on one leg, and avoiding all abdominal work for healing. Mainly just anything to strengthen the lower back stabilizers.
1. I got to clean house a bit today with LO in the wrap and DS at day care. Clutter and mess stress me out and I don't enjoy the cleaning process but getting it done feels nice! 2. We are headed on a trip soon and I'm actually really looking forward to the chaos it will surely be. We have a wedding, a visit with friends and almost a week on cape cod to look forward to! 3. Catching up on the bachelor here shortly. So excited.
1. Yup the body issue is in full swing over here. 2. I'm exhausted and had a fever yesterday... Feel like my body got hit by a train. Hopefully I can rest tonight. 3. DS3 turned two today and loved his balance bike.
Re: Three Things Tuesday 6/21
3. THIS BABY WON'T NAP!!!! This has to be the 6 week spurt early, she was on my boob for an hour with suck/swallow pretty consistent.
