It's the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere and it's really hot outside and none of us can imbibe in joyous, joyous alcohol. What are you drinking instead? Anyone have recipes or fun alternatives other than water, ginger ale, or Sprite?
I have been loving seltzer with a splash of OJ and cranberry, preferably out of a wine glass as it just makes me feel fancy (for the few minutes where I don't feel nauseous, haha). I'm also a huge fan of Trader Joe's low calorie Lemonade, especially after reading/learning last week that lemon products can help to quell nausea. I may get fancy and add fresh mint to it once I feel like I can stomach that again.
Going to the grocery store and buying a bottle of this with anything even resembling a bump is probably going to be the most hilarious thing about pregnancy.
(It's wine with all of the alcohol removed. It essentially tastes like slightly earthy grape juice. And I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than the hilarity of getting weird looks from people)
My mother had a pool day a few weekends ago and made margaritas for everyone...and I was at first a little sad inside that I couldn't participate in the drinking of the margaritas poolside. Until she brought out a virgin margarita for me, still in a margarita glass Otherwise it's just water for me, plus sometimes lemon, but that's not new for me. I used to drink mostly water anyway, and wine.
I do mixes of Perrier with juices...the lime Perrier with a mango/peach juice I found was divine. I just iced it down, put it in my Yeti and hung out with in the backyard while the hubs drank a beer. That's been about it, mainly I'm on lemon water and milk.
Oh, chocolate milk! I drank that like crazy with DS and that DOES sound good....

I found an article on popsugar.com with some fun mocktails & mamarita recipes. I made a "sangria" for memorial day weekend. Basically, half a bottle of apple or grape juice, can of sprite, then a lemon, lime, & orange sliced and topped with raspberries or strawberries. I tweaked it & used a gallon of apple juice plus 2 liter of sprite. I enjoyed it & the kids at the pool party loved it.

I went to my brother in laws wedding a couple weeks ago and asked for a mocktail so they suggested orange juice with some sprite and grenadine. It was ok. I'm not a big fan of anything sweet like that since water is literally the only thing I drink. Personally, I'd replace the grenadine with cranberry juice to make it less syrupy. It did the trick though, not a single "Why aren't you drinking?".

This stuff is AWFUL. The white is a little more tolerable but still super sweet (for my taste). They make a Brut that is not too bad, especially for virgin mimosas.
I'm sticking with flavored carbonated water until second tri when I can indulge in the occasional half glass of the real stuff.

No, it really was awful! Haha. I know a lot of people that can't really get into wines will steer towards moscatos because they're hella sweet, but I am so not one of those people--I love Malbecs and really earthy, bitter wines... and this was just like.... drinking old, stale Welch's or something lol.
Hahahhahaha "old stale Welch's," that makes me laugh -sorry! Glad I was able to read about these before trying them, because I do not think I could stomach that right now!!!

Malbecs are my favorite red! This stuff tastes like turned red wine to me. So much so that the first time I tried it, I poured it out and bought another bottle thinking that couldn't possibly be what it was SUPPOSED to taste like!
Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice with sparkling water. Yum! I don't drink when not pregnant though and I'm actually ALLERGIC to wine. Out of all the things.
@ThePax89 I ate so many nectarines and peaches with my last pregnancy too, and then there was a recall for listeria with the ones I had been eating. I got really sick a few days before that recall and had to be monitored by a perinatologist for a month. But here I am again eating all the stone fruit.
When I go to restaurants I'll try whatever odd non-alcoholic drink they have! I've had fresh squeezed watermelon juice (yum!) and Mexican grapefruit soda, my favorite was a sparkling rose lemonade I had on a weekend in Seattle but I can't find it anywhere!
I'll drink anything I can and I love putting it in a fancy glass!
I got so sick of Vernors that I've moved on to cream soda (Faygo forever), and cranberry juice + Sprite. I do love a good Shirley temple pretty much any time though! (I don't drink, even when not pregnant- it doesn't mix well with my anxiety)

My DH found a Rose Lemonade soda at our target and I absolutely love the stuff. I forget who makes it, but it's a British brand and they have a ton of other flavors. So far, I've only tried the rose lemonade.

@PMForbie did you?!? Where is this target? It is a British brand but I haven't been able to find it anywhere without paying a crazy amount to ship it in! Delicious right???
@underthesea Grapefruit juice with seltzer water was my mocktail of choice with DS. Once MS is gone I plan on consuming them all summer.
Virgin pina coladas and virgin margaritas are pretty good. I will definitely be indulging in a glass of wine here and there once I'm further along and not sick.
@underthesea@ashanne88 Oh man, grapefruit juice and sparkling water! I used to live in Texas and they have Topo Chico there (sparkling water that I swear is better than any other sparkling water but I don't really understand WHY, it just is) and I used to drink that with grapefruit juice, a couple of cherries and a lime wedge. It was the most amazing summer drink ever.
Also I've been loving ginger beer out at bars these days. Makes me kind of feel like I'm drinking alcohol. The lower sugar super spicy ones are my faves. I.e. Rachel's Ginger Beer in Seattle.

@briannaE129129 it is Fentimans (I had to look it up lol) apparently, they are now carried in 900 Target locations (mine is in the Central FL area). Also looks like they are at Whole Foods and a few other places. And, OMG yes it is so delicious! Hope they carry it near you!

Y'all. Reed's Extra Ginger Brew + Ice + 3 diced up mint sprigs + 1/2 a lime (with some of its juice squeezed in). It's heavenly. And pretty good if you're having a flare-up of morning sickness.
I just picked up a bottle of Trader Joe's Organic Strawberry Lemonade tonight...OMG ladies, SO good! Sipping it on ice in a wine glass (of course). Happy 4th!!!
We've been on the lake all weekend and everyone is partying it up..... Except me! Haha!! We passed one of our neighbors on the boat and she yelled that she had a juice box for me. Cracked me up... I have to admit I do miss my summer cocktails on the lake ;-) but water and Sprite for me.
Re: Mocktails and Non-Alcoholic Summery Drinks
So far, just drinking lots of water and the occasional Vanilla Coke on a day of bad choices.

Carbonated apple juice is the least offensive drink I can find at the moment.
Almost always mobile bumping--forgive my typos.
