GTKY- What Do You Do For a Living?

Work is super slow and I'm bored.

Currently, I work for a mortgage company as a Processor but I'm thinking of branching out as a Real Estate Agent.  I'd love to be on the other side of the mortgage industry and work more directly with people.

  • I was a teacher but was laid off for the upcoming year due to district financial issues. I'm looking for jobs but might end up taking this next year off and getting my masters if nothing pops up.

  • I've always been a stay at home mom. I've been married for 10 years and we were together a year before that. Husband and I met my senior year of high school. He always worked and always said if I don't need to work he'd rather me stay home. So i quit my highschool job and that was it. I've been very blessed to stay home with our kids.

  • I have two simultaneous careers and it's hard as hell.  I work full time in state government on a policy and legislative team.  I'm on a nice, small team where we analyze or current legislations, ensure appropriate changes, and then make sure our systems and processes comply with legislation.  It's way more complicated than that, but that's it in a nutshell.

DH and I are also a real estate team!  It's so much fun, but it's so hard to quit my full time, salaried, awesome benefits job for 100% commission and no benefits... LOL!

Best decision DH and I made was to get licensed! We went through the licensing courses a few years ago, but have been more serious about it over the last year to year and a half.  It's not exactly cheap, but it is relatively inexpensive considering other "self-employment" options one might choose.  Also, my husband and I haven't made the leap into this being our only means of income, but for right now, it's an awesome (but challenging) "second job"!
