  • 1. How far along and what are you expecting?

    23w + 5d, boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?

Almost made it to the 24 week viability milestone!

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives?

Starting to get random comments from random individuals about my size, the way I walk, and had one person touch my belly. None of this is OK.

Positive - its been 2 1/2 weeks since I have had a blackout episode, yay! Also started prenatal yoga last week.

I don't have a favorite, but my best friend just sent me this pin on Pinterest this morning so I need to pick through it -

  • 1. How far along and what are you expecting?

    24+6, di-di boy twins

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?

Just had our second anatomy scan (so cool!), next appt includes my GD test next week.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives?

Pretty sure my belly has been working on a growth spurt this weekend - ouch. Other than that, I'm feeling good and mostly comfortable still this week!

    4. Question of the week: Fave crockpot or freezer meal?

I love this crockpot vegan butternut squash soup recipe! It's cheap and you could probably even freeze it (or freeze a bag of all the chopped ingredients) to throw in when you need it.

This pork loin recipe is also a hit, but not a complete meal. https://www.candcmarriagefactory.com/2011/01/brown-sugar-and-balsamic-glazed-pork.html?m=1
  • 1. How far along are you and what are you expecting?
    22w2d - di/di girls

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?
First MFM/anatomy scan on Thursday. Counting down the days!

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives?
All I want to do is have sex. I have never had a libido like this and I think I may have lost a couple pieces of my mucus plug yesterday. It sort of worried me but there was no cramping or spotting. I am not sure if it's okay or not to have as much sex as I want (and I mean orgasms, I can get around no penetration if that's a problem). This feels like an odd problem to have, lol.

    4. Question of the week: I've heard crockpot and freezer meals will be critical for surviving the newborn twin stage. Have a favorite recipe you'd like to share?
If anyone likes taco soup, that's definitely a good crockpot soup to make and store. Google/Pinterest the 8 can ingredient taco soup and then modify however you want. I usually add a ranch dry season packet, I would look it up and post it but I'm bumping in between work since it's my first day back from our baby moon.
  • 1. How far along and what are you expecting?

    24 weeks and 1 day!!!!  boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?

Next week I have a followup on my cervix to check length again and possibly another growth scan.  I can't remember.  Then, just anxious for 28 weeks, then 32, then 36.  I think you can see where I'm going with this.  :)

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives?

We made it through fiscal year end balancing at work!  So glad that's over.

I hate pricking my finger to check my sugar.  I'm so over it.  Things I'm also over...morning sickness, shortness of breath upon exertion, pregnancy brain, and back pain.

I need to start sharing more positives.  This pregnancy has been so different, and I feel I've focused on the negative too much.  I love how my son is interested in the babies, feeling them move, their kicks, and things he will (or will not) share with them.  I love that I get to shop for a girl this time around.  I love that my husband helps out a lot around the house and with my son, and more so now.  I love feeling both babies move in my tummy, even when it hurts, I know they are ok.  I LOVE fried pickles!

    4. Question of the week: I've heard crockpot and freezer meals will be critical for surviving the newborn twin stage. Have a favorite recipe you'd like to share?

@sjo_thetwins I LOVE taco soup.  I'll have to try adding a ranch packet.

If you love potato soup, here's a recipe I got from a coworker...

    Crock Pot Potato Soup

    1 – 30oz bag of hash browns

    2 – 14oz cans of chicken broth

1 can – cream of chicken soup

    1/3 tsp – ground pepper

8 oz. – cream cheese softened

    ½ onion chopped

    Salt to taste

Combine: hash browns, broth, chicken soup, onion and seasonings together and cook on low for 5 hours.  Stir in softened cream cheese about 30 mins prior to serving.

I used frozen hash browns, so I let the soup cook on low overnight.  I also used a stick blender to give the soup a creamy texture.

It's good, but not as good as when I make it on the stovetop.  Of course, that probably has to do with the bacon and heavy cream I add!  I also start with real potatoes instead of hash browns and onions boiled in the bacon grease residue.

I also love a beef pot roast in the crockpot with the roast, potatoes, carrots, and onions.  Add beef broth to cover.  You'll have to google specifics, I never measure this when making it.

  • @sjo_thetwins I've been on pelvic rest the entire time.  It stinks, but for some reason, first my RE and then my OB recommended it, and now especially the MFM recommends it too since discovering my shortened cervix.  I felt like they were overly cautious for no reason given I had no history of early loss or shortened cervix, but I'm glad for it now that a shortened cervix has been discovered.
  • @JessK1014 does that mean just no penetration or no ANYthing? I have our first MFM appointment on Thursday (thankfully) so I will ask about it then. I had my cervix felt by my OB two weeks ago at a regular appt because I mentioned Braxton hicks and she said it felt firm and long. So I'm just not sure, but it would be soul crushing to know the one thing that's keeping me feeling same right now could be put to rest for awhile. ESP since it's gonna be awhile even after the babies are born. Damn libido.
  • @sjo_thetwins

No anything.  Like I mentioned though, I think they've been overly cautious given I had no history of any issues with pre-term labor, no early loss, and carrying my son full term.  My first pregnancy was an induction at 39 weeks due to gestational diabetes.  After a full day of laboring, it resulted in a C-section due to my son coming sunny side up and down at an angle into my hip instead of straight down.  I am AMA too, again with gestational diabetes, so I guess they were just categorizing me as high risk from the get go especially with carrying twins.

I'm sure everyone's situation is unique, so I'd just wait to hear what your MFM says for you at your appointment.  If they haven't mentioned it to you yet, I'm sure you're fine.  Best of luck to you!

  • @JessK1014 ah I see. Well, overly cautious is definitely better than lacking - like our doctor has been. Thanks for explaining!! :)
  • 1. How far along and what are you expecting? 25 + 2, boy/girl twins 2. Upcoming milestones or appointments? My next growth US/OB appt is at 28 weeks. I have a follow up glucose test/tdap & I'll find out if I will be at my Sister In laws wedding at the end of July.. It will involve travel so guessing no but this will confirm either way. 3. Rants/Raves/Positives? This is my first pregnancy where I have gotten to feel babies kicking/moving. I can't get over how cool it is. I was also able to travel home to Mn this weekend which was amazing. I got in some great family time, boating and baby showers. Definitely feeling very grateful today! 4. Question of the week: I've heard crockpot and freezer meals will be critical for surviving the newborn twin stage. Have a favorite recipe you'd like to share? Crock pot orange chicken :) easy and tasty. https://thefrugalgirls.com/2013/04/crockpot-orange-chicken-recipe.html @sjo_thetwins I'm glad your appt is almost here!! Can't wait to here how it goes. @GoBucksOH Yay for no blackouts!!! :)
  • @GoBucksOH so glad to hear no blackouts for a few weeks! Hope that keeps up for you!
@JessK1014 Glad you made it through fiscal year and hopefully have a little more relaxed pace for a while! That is an awesome list of positives- my DS is oblivious to being kicked still, but I am totally with you on loving all the kicks to know they are both okay.
@sjo_thetwins Mucus plugs regenerate, so don't freak out too too much over little bits of that (do worry if it's lots though). The main concern with orgasms is that they can/do bring on contractions, since they involve some of the same muscles. If you've already been having lots of BH, maybe just ask at your MFM appt. Glad you are finally getting in!
@girvin21 I love orange chicken! Thanks for the recipe. DH and I just got back from traveling for a family wedding this weekend - it was pretty uncomfortable for me to travel at this point already, and I did have some BH during take-off and landing, so I would definitely be cautious with plans to travel later.
  • 1. How far along and what are you expecting?
    24+3, twin boys.

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?
Cervix check on Friday. She will probably take a peek at the boys too.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives?
    Is homicidal normal? Haha.

  • 1. How far along and what are you expecting?
    22w6d with boy girl twins

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?
Just had an appointment today with MFM. Daisy is still measuring pretty small at around 18w4d but still maintains a strong heartbeat and movement. We're concerned about the bloodflow from the placenta and it seems like the placenta is just a lot smaller and under productive. All in all, Peter has gained about 170 grams in 3 weeks, but Daisy has only gained 60. I'm hopeful that any growth is a good sign but the dr is still trying to prepare us for the worst.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives?
I'm so down and depressed. I'm just not good at forced optimism, especially when i feel like the dr is trying to expect the worst.

    4. Question of the week: I've heard crockpot and freezer meals will be critical for surviving the newborn twin stage. Have a favorite recipe you'd like to share?

    1. How far along and what are you expecting?

    23w2d - MoDi Girls

    2. Upcoming milestones or appointments?

Had my weekly MFM appointment today and the fluids looked great for the first time in 4 weeks and almost to the 24 week viability mark, yay!

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives?

It amazes me how different the twin pregnancy has been than my singleton. There's just so much extra worry and stress. There are also so many different milestones that give you relief when you reach them, I feel like I am not enjoying the pregnancy as much as I should.

    4. Question of the week: I've heard crockpot and freezer meals will be critical for surviving the newborn twin stage. Have a favorite recipe you'd like to share?

Just pinned and made this last week, so good! Cheesy Ranch Chicken  https://jmanandmillerbug.com/2012/04/simple-slow-cooker-cheesy-ranch-chicken-a-sure-fire-family-favorite.html

  • @nlane0723 Homicidal!  That's the best description I've heard!  :)  I had a terrible rage issue a few weeks ago, it's lessened, but it's still there!  Poor hubby!  I brought it up with my very introverted OB, and oh he had jokes.  He said it looked like my hubs was still alive and ok, but seriously he said it was totally normal.

@lmno304 No words of advice here, but just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you and your babies.  I'm hoping your baby girl is strong and healthy despite her size.

@cnb4hf I hear you.  I certainly feel like I am too focused on the negative, the stress, the extra appointments, the new and crazy symptoms.  I'm a worrier by nature.  Shopping for the nursery and clothes for the babies has helped me a bit.  Although that stresses me a bit too when I think about daycare costs for three!  I feel like maybe I shouldn't be shopping for them so much, but I know it won't be like this for long, so I'm just going to try to enjoy this crazy ride.

  • @lmno304 I'm glad to hear that your little girl is still growing, even though I can only imagine how stressful it is that she is still behind.

I am am so right there with you on how different this is than my first pregnancy. I feel guilty that I'm just not as joyful or relaxed as I was with my singleton, and have been doing my best to grab hold of that attitude and change it. I've heard that the second time around is more difficult to begin with, but twins are so much harder on your body, too! Shopping for them and looking at photo inspiration (maybe just works for me since I do photography) is helping me bond and get more excited.
  • @lmno304 .  Glad to hear she is growing- sending happy thoughts your way.  Thanks for keeping us updated- you're so strong!!
