February 2017 Moms

A little worried...

I was a bit anxious yesterday due to previous loss and went to see the Doctor who agreed to send me for an early ultrasound to see if everything looked ok and to date.

Based on LMP i should be 7 weeks today and since I used an OPK im pretty confident that this would have me exactly 2 weeks ahead of gestational age.

Had the US today. Technician said she saw a gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole yet so couldnt date. She said I definitely wasn't 7 weeks but I was unsure if she meant gestational age or not. She said it looked like everything was as it should be but it was too early. Now I have come home and done some reading and it seems.like the fetal pole should certainly be there by now so now I am just getting increasingly concerned.

Does anyone have any info on fetal pole development...is this something that should be seen by now? I have not had bloodwork done so don't know hcg levels. Any thoughts?

Re: A little worried...

  • I don't have any information but I wanted to say that I completely understand the anxiety of being pregnant after a loss. Things may still be ok - were you temping or just using OPKs? In theory the OPK could have given you an impending ovulation that took longer to happen - which would delay conception.

  • Even if you did ovulate on the day you think, there are still a lot of reasons why things could vary. For one, you could have implanted a little late (implantation can take place anywhere from 6 to 12dpo). If the tech wasn't concerned, I don't think you should be, either. You could always try for a repeat US in a week or so!

I'm sorry you're dealing with this.  (I don't have any information to add.)  Just sending good wishes your way that all is well and that it was just too early.
  • My doctor saw an empty sac at six weeks.  She had me fine in two weeks later and saw a baby and a heart beat!  I think seven weeks could still be too early.  Good luck!
  • I don't have anything to add but sorry for your loss, and good, sticky vibes being sent your way!

Girl, I hear you. I go into EVERY appointment super nervous, and even when the doctor tells me everything is okay, I still have doubts and have to sit on my hands not to Google everything. Deep breaths! Sounds like everything will be okay.
