So I did something I now know I shouldn't do at 3am - I took my second FRER test. I took the first a week ago today and got a nice strong positive at about 17DPO - I took my second today and it is a weaker positive and now I'm freaking out a bit. I don't want to wake DH because he had trouble falling asleep last night - and there isn't much to be done, even comforting wise. I had an HCG draw yesterday (along with the full prenatal panel, progesterone and some other things). I did take the second test "wrong" in that I peed on it for longer than I should have and it wasn't FMU - but I don't think that should matter too much - and my 17DPO test was FMU by about as much as this one was. And at 24 DPO it should be fine regardless. Symptoms of pregnancy are still here, and as strong as they were last week. I don't even know why I'm posting this - I guess because I need to tell someone other than the cats?

I hate that. I'm a serial tester and I know it's bad. I probably took 15-20 tests this time. But what else was I going to do with the mega pack of wondfos? Sometimes the lines were darker than others. No clue why. But I'd stop testing now that you're doing blood tests. I hope you get good news!!
Thanks @ceclarlinetlo and @rkrichey - I managed to go back to sleep - some crying, but I think that is par for the course with PGAL and PG in general. DH ended up waking up and comforting me - and insisting that I should have woken him up if I was upset. I feel guilty doing it though.
I'm still not feeling great - but I have to pull it together and at least fake it - my brother and SIL are in town for the night and staying with us and I'm not ready to tell them anything. So I'm off to finish cleaning, maybe distract myself with a short stint at the gym and trying not to buy another test for tomorrow. I messaged my BFF who is the younger sister of my GP to see if I can get a requisition for another draw on Monday - that would tell us more than another stick. Alternatively I'll book an appointment for Monday and stop to get tested on the way home.

@catiecatp Please stop peeing on sticks and giving yourself anxiety. I'll keep my fx for great betas! Sending much love from TTCAL!

But @Wishilivedinflorida is right. HPTs are NOT quantitative test, meaning the darkness of the line doesn't meant anything. I was freaking out for this same reason last pregnancy. The first beta was 200-ish and the second was 400ish. I POAS-ed both days and the 200 day was MUCH darker than the 400 day. Wait for you betas and go from there, there are so many reasons a line could lose darkness. I know it's really hard, but it's very important to distract yourself with other stuff right now.
Thank you @ceclarlinetlo, @Wishilivedinfloridaand, and @chloe97 - I did not pee on anything today and I won't tomorrow. Beta at 9:30 and I hope the doctor will somehow communicate the reassuring news as soon as she can. She doesn't release results by phone but she's a 50 minute drive each way so it is problematic... I'll be up there on Wednesday for something else but I hope to know sooner.

Thanks ladies - blood was drawn about an hour and a half ago - now we wait - and I didn't buy any more pee sticks. I've managed to get calmer over the past 24 hours - and may have even created my first food aversion which makes me happy. I'm not sure how long it will take to get the results - I'm not sure this is something my GP will release over the phone because Canadian laws and policies are different. I forgot to ask how long it would take - I'm figuring I won't know until tomorrow at the earliest.

Great news - got a call from the doctor and HCG levels are doing what they're supposed to do. As y'all predicted, the home test didn't signify a problem. Thank you for giving me explicit examples of where the tests didn't match - it worked wonders on reducing my stress and I am so grateful.

Thanks ladies - big life lesson here - if in doubt get an HCG series of tests not POAS more once you have a clear positive. I'm relieved for now - the first PGAL scare and we survived. Up next, this week is equivalent to when things started going south with my first pregnancy... and it includes an ultrasound where we will hopefully see a heartbeat
